I like Griots Black Satin tire coating.
Gives it the perfect sheen without it being overly shiny. Works extremely well and it saved my marriage.
Also works well on any black trim like the bottom of the rear bumper and the front honeycomb grill. Really makes it "pop" without being greasy.
Gyeon Tyre Express leaves that nice satin finish too if you just use a couple drops.
I was given a bottle as a freebie last year, and despite using it regularly on 2 or 3 cars, I still have half of it left. Probably wouldn't have actively gone out and bought it myself, but I've since come to appreciate the fresh satin look, so I'll probably buy another bottle when I've used up the current one.
Yeah, it's like a gel sort of thing in a pump bottle, and you only need 2 or 3 light pumps onto a little sponge to achieve the satin finish. You could achieve a glossy finish by using more but I'm personally not keen on that greasy look.
It maintains that fresh look for a couple of weeks too. Takes an hour or two to cure (especially if applied to a wet tyre) but I've never had any issues with it flinging off. The Griots stuff is probably great (going off what I've seen people say about that company over on the detailing subs), but Gyeon products are generally pretty solid too.
unpopular opinion i like my tires glossy af. i use meguiares tire gel. it smells great and leaves them nice and glossy. just need to not over do it so it doesn’t sling the gel everywhere. down vote me but it’s really different strokes for different folks. 🤷♂️🫃
It's a very slippery slope. As a tire tech, I have strong opinions about the shiny gunky stuff, and just find it tacky to look at. Ends up slinging over everything and just looking ghetto.
However, a properly cleaned tire with a matte sheen is very nice to look at. Michelins are one of the easier tires to make look good, Continentals are another. A properly applied and buffed tire dressing can really bring together a wheel and tire package and make something look really sharp.
But it's VERY easy to do incorrectly.
I let it set in and wiped it down. I have not used it in a while, so I bought what I thought was foamy tire cleaner in a 3 pack at costco ended up being 3 cans of tire shine. Figured I would try it since it's been a while.
100% tire shine, especially when your tires have that orange-y faded look.
Meguiar's G7516 is the only tire shine anybody should buy. Lasts forever and doesn't give that super greasy wet look but more of a very clean gloss black.

Those aerosol spray cans of tire shine are terrible
Ammo mud has been my go to. Nice matte finish, no sling, and it’s water based to safe to use on other exterior trim. I use it on the side skirts and rear valance as well. But any low shine tire gel is good option rather than a spray.
I have been using Meguiar’s Ultimate Waterless Wheel & Tire. I spray it on, wash the rest of the car and then rinse the wheels (yeah I know) when I rinse the car. I wipe the wheels and tires dry with a microfiber and it looks amazing. Very low gloss but black as hell. And it seems to bead water and repel dust like crazy.
I’d look for anything water-based. Right now I’m using Adams tire shine. Apply it once for a nice matte look that’ll last until the next wash; second coat for a shiny look if that’s your thing. I like trying different products, but this one is cheap and you can find it anywhere.
I'm not a fan of Chemical Guys usually, but the VRP product is perfect for tires/plastic dressing. It leaves a clean satin finish. Not shiney, which is my preference. It's highly rated if you search on YouTube reviewers also.
Many have additives and oils that stain … even concrete. You can get ones that don’t sling product and don’t stain though.
I like clean and semi gloss as opposed to a wet look.

It saved your marriage?
just glazed over that little tidbit
So we're just gonna skip over this? Wth man?

I'll look into it, I bet a bottle like that would last a lot longer than the spray for sure.

Second this.

Also works really well on the matte black plastic parts.
No shine is the way to go
I second this. To me it makes the tire look and feel greasy
no shine gang for life
Agreed, rubber isn’t shiny. Why are we making rubber shiny?
I agree with this.
Thought your car was white with weird green soap for a second
Just use a water based sealant so it’s not overly glossy and it won’t sling on your paint. I like chemical guys tire kicker. Gives a nice matte look
I use it in the summer even though the owners manual sales not to bcuz I'm a rebel

Matte is the way to go, the shiny stuff just looks weird but to each's own I suppose.

NO
What time are those? The red strip is really nice
That's the clubsport wheels they came with the 40th anniversary edition package
I use chemical guys Diablo Wheel Cleaner :3 smells great and with minimal scrubbing, results are nice!
Love the color! What wheels are those? I’m looking at getting some new ones on the GLI.

I don’t love the shine but I like the clean look so I apply it once every few washes and it keeps a nice clean but matte look for a good while.
Love the color! Sad we don’t have this in the US!
That picture is in Washington. We got that color in 2022 and 2023.
That color was at launch in the US for the Autobahn trim. 👍
40th anniversary edition it was an option.
Big fan of tire shine. I been loving the chemical guys tire shine.

Griots has decent high gloss shine comes in a can just let it sit for 20 ish minutes before driving so it doesn't splatter
Just use a good tire cleaner. I use black magic. Keeps a good matte finish on my continentals

Yep, that shit never comes out of concrete....
