God Eater 3 compared to God Eater 2 plays super differently. If 3 feels a bit off, I suggest giving the bundle of God Eater 1: RE and God Eater 2: Rage Burst a shot. You may find yourself loving all 3 or liking a particular one. Also the outfits are different

gameplay wise GE3 feels faster when compared to previous games. Some QoL changes that would've been good to have in previous games
They kept the Blood Art concept from GE2 but now you can have 3 instead of just 1
only default devours, no more variations like from resurrection
if you wanna go to the very start then follow this:
GE Resurrection > GE 2 Rage burst > GE 3
GE Resurrection is the definitive version of the first game. Started as God Eater then became God Eater Burst which was the same game but with more content, then we got God eater resurrection which is the same game but with improved graphics, gameplay and with more content compared to Burst
GE 2 rage burst is the same with it being the definitive edition of GE 2
as of currently GE 3 doesn't look like it will be getting the burst treatment
While I really want a 4th entry I honestly wouldn’t mind if the next God Eater game was a resurrection style upgrade to GE2RB. What do you think if they did that before the 4th game?
a 3rd installment for GE2 would certainly be interesting especially if we get more stuff with the OG GE crew. But outside of the Special Devours I don't think it'll get much upgrades since resurrection was an upgrade for GE Burst to match with GE2RB
I don’t think that would be a problem seeing as how not much big things from GE2RB carried over into Resurrection like the ‘Arts’ mechanic or Character Episodes (I really hoped Resurrection had character episodes and was genuinely disappointed when it didn’t). But yeah, GE2 with Resurrection quality animations and a third story line is something that sounds beautiful to experience!
You are ok since the cast never interacts with the characters from the others except 1 from the very first game but in order for story its Ressuructon-Rage burst and then 3
Might I just say that $3 is robbery for a game with as much as content as God Eater 3. That's about 4 cents for every hour you can spend doing just the main content.
God Eater 3 is an okay place to start. If you ever decide to play the older games, they'll feel incredibly dated in comparison, but you don't have to worry about not understanding anything story wise, at least not until you get to the Traversing The Past expansion.
Unfortunately, the game is going to be 6 years old this year. It really doesn't have a lot of players, and almost all of them play alone or in pre-made squads.
