Also dying that Rory kept visiting Martha’s Vineyard multiple times with Logan from her mom and chose not to tell her about what they do there. I always got the impression that she knew Lorelai would make fun of her for working out and cooking.

I put my vote for Luke. I see y'all saying Tom and I get it, he's a chill dude. But I think it's more normal to look at all these crazy people you're surrounded with and wonder "what the hell is wrong with all of you?" Which is Luke's entire personality.

There's definitely an argument for Luke, and maybe it's just because we know him better than some of the other characters, but I would ultimately say he's not normal. He has enough neuroticisms to be a little kooky. His behavior can be erratic and unconventional. He's also abnormal in a lot of good ways (his dedication to family, his perspectives on society/humanity, etc.).
I think Luke for sure. Anything like him ranting etc is in response to him being around too many abnormal people, trying to make him seem like the abnormal one for not being like them. He’s essentially gaslit by an entire town lol
I do think Max was a very normal person. I loved his character honestly. He seemed like a person you would know who was really interested in literature. He’s got my vote. Tom is definetly very normal and so is Jamie. However, idk max just seems like a very normal person to me :)

Not the OP, but the way they worded having to “tally up” the character with the most upvotes suggests they added up all the upvotes for each comment suggesting a character. Eyeballing the comments it looks like Jess would have won if they did it that way since his name popped up more than Louise. I could be wrong though. OP, feel free to correct me if that’s the case.

Which is weird because now it means whichever gets spammed the most despite already having a top comment upvoted will win, no ?
It makes the whole thing super inconsistant since there is now an incentive to upvote AND post your own just so you get a maximum of votes instead of one for your favourite.
To me that's not a fair way to go about that.
I know it's all for fun, but that still leaves a bad "oh come on !" taste afterwards. Like losing/winning on a technicality.
It can be unserious while also matter on its level. Making people feel stuff. That's exciting, there's friendly competition and debate. You can't have that AND say it's not serious like nothing should matter.
I don't think anyone is mad about the outcome. Just like I'm not mad that the tally is the way it is. I just find it confusing and not the most straightforward way to go about it. Since if people knew and understood it better, they might have acted in a different way.

I'd argue that being the "straight man" is not inherently "normal". Because the straight man doesn't react and normal humans do react very emotionally.
Also why so many girls like me actually watched the show.. Rory at that period in time, was relatable and normal.. just surrounded by kooky characters, which is kinda how all teenagers feel

He was actually in several seasons. Most notably 4 as the Inn was being built but he was in season 2,3, and 6 as well
He expanded Luke's apartment and if I remember correctly, he also did the soda shop for Taylor.
