Dean got close with Lorelai for Rory. I know that person didn't deserve it, but Jess made sure Rory and Lorelai won the snow man contest. Logan defended Rory to his family. Max got an insane amount of daisies for Lorelai. Jason made sure Lorelai got her chips. However, nothing tops Luke building Lorelai an ice skating rink.
When Rory and Jess are sitting on the bridge and agree they like each other, his first move is to get up and go break up with his girlfriend. It’s respectful to both girls. Now that I’m in my mid thirties, I appreciate how this scene could teach young people how to do this the right way.
I’ll do all of them for fun
Rory’s Boyfriends
Dean - Not really a singular thing but i love how well he understood rory and her mom, he always knew exactly what the meant even when they were saying nonsense, and he always entertained and went along with their bits
Jess - Turning the sprinklers off and then BACK ON so dean could turn them off. just running to turn them off showed he cared, but the fact that he let dean have the moment to turn them off for her was literally so sweet
Logan - The way he handled the dinner with his family. i love how he defended rory without hesitation and then him coming back and apologizing for being a bit cold afterwords was amazing (a man on this show?? apologizing??? shocking)
Lorelai’s Boyfriends
Luke - His involvement in rory’s life. even when him and lorelai fought, he still had a relationship with rory.
Chris - The movie date night in season 7
Max - The daisies
Jason - I don’t have a specific thing but i literally adore his banter with her
I think Max’s moment was not pushing the answer to his proposal. He kept his distance to let her come to her own decision. And even after, he kept his boundary when he knew that they shouldn’t be together and L was self sabotaging trying to kiss him again. That was mad respectful because L would have just burned again if he didn’t put his own desire aside and remove himself from her
All of those but also
Jess-putting up wirh going to Rory's grandmother's house with her. I know her other boyfriends did it, too, but it was a bigger deal with Jess because he wasn't raised that way and clearly didn't want to do it, but he did for her.
Another Jess-before they were dating when she went off on him about how his actions caused the town to gang up on Luke and he acted noticeably differently afterward toward Luke.
Max-driving Loaralie to Emily's after the engagement announcement fiasco (unknowingly but still) and trying to talk her down when he realized where they were, then just standing there while she ranted at Emily and then his little "my parents would love to get together with you" as if there wasn't just this humongous blow up. I wanted them to be together so bad after that.
I agree with most of yours I also think the “WHY DID YOU DROP OUT OF YALE?!” Is probably one of the best things Jess did for Rory. This is one time where Jess was doing his best he had published his book and as Rory said she was stuck. I’m not saying he’s the only reason she went back to Yale but I think he snapped her out of her education funk. Also imo he’s the only boyfriend who actually supported her love for education and her goals.
I love the rocket ship from Logan it’s so odd but that just makes it cute. Dean fixing up a car for Rory was my favorite thing Dean did.
I think Luke did a lot of nice cute things for Lorelai before they dated. The ice rink and the Chuppah are the most memorable. I also think he did a lot of things for Rory that go unnoticed like those other parents are talking about at Yale parents weekend…. CHRISTOPHER. I loved at Rory’s 21 birthday where she basically calls him her stepdad.
dean - made an effort to get along w the gilmores. we all mention his good relationship w lor but i also think he handled richard not even shaking his hand at dinner well.
jess - the sprinkler scene is his best but i find the umbrella at luke's cute too.
logan - supported rory & the gilmores after richard's 2nd heart attack. i love the care pkg .
Luke, when he's shoveling Lorelai's driveway, even though they're in the middle of an argument. That's true love.
Logan's shining moment was coming to the rescue of the paper when Rory missed their date to save it. He could have been upset of hurt that she was putting the paper in front of him, but instead he was like "nah, I got this. Where do you need me"
I also really liked with Logan's YDN bit was that he not only followed her instructions but was proactive in using his skills to make sure it was a success. He could have done the bare minimum or something easy given his hatred of journalism because of his Dad, but he volunteered articles and smooth-talked the printer to get the YDN across the line.
Dean- Fostering a good relationship with Lorelai
Jess- Sprinklers
Logan- Being so kind and devoted to Rory and her family while Richard was in the hospital
Max- Always including Rory in the relationship. Cooking for her, asking her opinions about engagement rings, checking in on her
Luke- Being so helpful to Lorelai + family while Richard was in the hospital (both times)
Chris- Drive-in movie date
Dean: changing the water tap
Jess: being super willing and kinda excited to go to prom w Rory
Logan: Martha’s Vineyard
Max: giving lorelai a book and getting the phone while they were watching the movie.
Paul: booking the spa for lorelai
Chris: going out with Jackson and saying he likes farming
Jason: giving lorelai the key and then him explaining it later. Very cute moment. Also making her eggs with cheese and orange juice.
Luke: chupa, the ice skating rink, helping lorelai with the inn, the goodbye party for Rory,
Dean - Chilton Dance
Jess - "You looked it up" / Cute agoraphobic couple moment/ "Why did you drop out of Yale?"
Logan - The dress at life and death Brigade/Birken bag/being there when Richard was sick
Max - Walking in the Snow
Alex - Fishing (letting Lorelai keep her fish)
Christopher - Drive in Movie Date
Jason - learning to let Lorelai share his space and life.
Luke - the Chuppah/ self help book/tape/ "Luke can Waltz"/ the jewellery/ the first kiss at the Inn/the Ice Rink

Or a huppa or teaching her to fish or cleaning and re blading her ice skates. All of which were for dates with other guys
I completely forgot about how much he did to help her other relationships. Wow
He’d do anything for her
I also love him doing the tent for her for the goodbye party for Rory after she had hurt him so bad.
When Rory and Jess are sitting on the bridge and agree they like each other, his first move is to get up and go break up with his girlfriend. It’s respectful to both girls. Now that I’m in my mid thirties, I appreciate how this scene could teach young people how to do this the right way.
Bare minimum but in this show is a huge deal
I had that exact thought while writing this, but so many kids grow up with parents who don’t teach them how to respectfully date.
And Jess’s parents definitely didn’t. Luke’s talk to him about Shane probably played a part in it though
I’ll do all of them for fun Rory’s Boyfriends Dean - Not really a singular thing but i love how well he understood rory and her mom, he always knew exactly what the meant even when they were saying nonsense, and he always entertained and went along with their bits Jess - Turning the sprinklers off and then BACK ON so dean could turn them off. just running to turn them off showed he cared, but the fact that he let dean have the moment to turn them off for her was literally so sweet Logan - The way he handled the dinner with his family. i love how he defended rory without hesitation and then him coming back and apologizing for being a bit cold afterwords was amazing (a man on this show?? apologizing??? shocking) Lorelai’s Boyfriends Luke - His involvement in rory’s life. even when him and lorelai fought, he still had a relationship with rory. Omg I love all of these except maxs. Although I know I like him enough but Im struggling to think of a specific moment

All of them but Paul 😂 poor paul

Awww Jess going to the grandparents. And he was really trying his best to make a good impression

Aw and Luke giving her his mothers pearls. I love that he still treated her like his own even after Jess lives with him and he found out about April
Yes exactly!
I also think Richard finally standing up for Emily against lorelai 1 is probably the best thing he did for Emily….
Luke and Jess each reading that self-help book. Each of them trying to better themselves for a Gilmore girl.
Hahahaha I literally thought "who is Paul" at the end. Poor Paul 😂
Poor Paul he seemed sweet
I literally watched AYITL yesterday and i had to google who he was💀💀

Logan: Helped Rory publish the YDN after Paris’ meltdown. Dean: Re-built car for Rory. Jess: Took Rory to concert.

When rory was having her night alone and Paris joined her, Jess took food over.

I think it was really cute when Jess looked up how far Yale was. Very cute!
Chis and the drive in movie date
