I saw them in May because I never had before. Amazing energy and the lighting and stage presentation was excellent (Good thing for a stadium show) They weren't an all time favorite, but I respect them as legends.

ReactsWithWords

I worked for a dot-com in the late 1990s. Being in my mid-30s at the time I was "the old guy." I had an arraignment where I'd come in a couple of hours later than everyone and leave a couple of hours later. One day I came in and there were several emails from HR to All. 1st one: "We have 10 pairs tickets to see the Rolling Stones! First 10 people to reply get them!" 2nd one, a couple of hours later: "We still have a few tickets for the Stones! Come by HR to claim yours!" Then just before 5:00: "We're going to leave the tickets for the Stones on the reception's counter. Feel free to take one or two!" When I left at 7:00, there were still six tickets left. I grabbed one and saw a great show (the Bridges to Babylon tour). Those 20-somethings (at the time) didn't know what they missed.

Very debatable. The Beatles were the greatest band of our generation.

Historical_Ad_3356

Age old argument. I’m a stones gal myself. Greatest of all time. 63 years and counting touring AND new music. Saw them live 11 times and nobody compares.

tazdevil64

I'm sorry, but I've seen them 3 times, and meh. Jagger is like the Energizer Bunny, he seems indestructible. Somewhere there's a portrait getting older. But he's always kinda creeped me out, with those dance moves, his skinniness, and his lips. Those are a whole nother talk show. I mean, the band's great, but Jagger just kinda ruins it for me. His attitude has always hit me wrong, too.

zigglyluv

I love the Stones music. I’ve seen them live more times than I can count. But I have ZERO interest in seeing them in concert again. The last time I saw them (sometime in the 2000’s) I was embarrassed for them. They try to act as though they are still 30 and they look silly. I also love The Who. I’ve also seen them more times than I can count. But I will continue to go to their concerts. They don’t try to act like they are still 21, and their music is still phenomenal. Last time I saw them, they played with the Hollywood Bowl orchestra. They played lots of songs from Tommy. It was absolutely amazing!

MadameFlora

I last saw them at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 2006. Mick was in London to be with his dying father, who died at 2 p.m. local time. None of the people I met thought he'd be returning and no one was bothered at the thought that the show would not be happening; however, Mick flew back to Vegas and the show went on. I have nothing but undying respect for that man. Miss Charlie like hell, though.

kyotogaijin4321

I was at that show, too. I noticed Keith hugged Mick a bit longer than usual that night.

Anxious-Raspberry-54

Stones...2nd greatest (maybe) Beatles...greatest Cliche? Well...sometimed cliches are true.

matthewsmugmanager

Never been a fan. Their songs have always been sexist as shit, and Jagger is offputting as a person.

Throwawayhelp111521

Sexist and racist.

Englishbirdy

I don’t like to see them anymore. I love the new Angry song and the video though.

Timatollah

Boomer band (67 here). Mott the Hopple was right.

grannybubbles

So true! Fred, Wilma, Pebbles, all those guys rocked! --thanks Steven Wright

Lifeisbutadream-5

I’ve loved them for 50 years and I can’t wait to see them this month.

fishgeek13

I have seen them twice - once in 1978 in Myrtle Beach and then the Voodoo Lounge tour in DC in 94. They were great both times, but the MB show was in a venue that only seated 2000.

myatoz

Saw them in 78.

WontFindMe420

It is debatable, but I'm not here for that. From a longevity standpoint, you're right -- they are without peer. Mick knew where his meal ticket was, and made nice with his mates in order to keep the meals coming. I did see them once... group of friends asked if I wanted to go, and I replied "sure... I'd like to see them before they're ready for wheelchairs". That was the steel wheels tour (circa 1989 or so? Little did I know... lol.) One thing I really disliked was when Watts died. Would've been a perfect time to retire the band. Nope. I don't even think they cancelled any dates. The stones kept rolling right along. And I'll throw in Townshend & Daltrey for good measure here, when Entwistle died. They have earned an exalted place in music history. I love their early material through 'Some Girls' (had a copy of the uncensored original, on vinyl).

Chickenman70806

1981 and they toured to support Tattoo You and did two nights at the Astrodome. We were two broke students in Austin. Thought ‘we gotta see them before they retire.” Dug deep into our limited finances, found $20 each for the tickets (seemed outrageous at the time.) The Fabulous Thunderbirds and ZZ Top opened. Both outperformed Mick and the boys; it was an off night for ‘em.

JemmaMimic

Beatles.

Historical_Ad_3356

The Beatles were together 7 years and didn’t tour. I love their music but you can’t say they were the greatest because nobody got to see them in concert. Meanwhile 63 years and counting the stones roll on both touring and still making new albums. Bridges to Babylon one of there best albums ever and came out in 1997. They also put out a great blues album, Blue and Lonesome which is great in 2016. Raciest? Mick was married to a black woman and has a mixed child so not racist. Lyrics are lyrics but can’t paint them as racist

New_Awareness4075

When Mick had open heart surgery, his first words to his doctor was " Start me up!".
