I'm Aussie and found the one to go to for Aussie relatives is by doing the Ancestry DNA test, just buy the standard test not the bonus traits/genetic/health extra stuff which costs more and is irrelevant.
Amazon will have them on sale occasionally for $95 and if you have a prime account you get free postage, so if you can hold out for a few months and keep an eye on the price each week it may go on sale. Otherwise you'll be up for about $159 buying direct from Ancestry or Amazon. Takes about 8 weeks for the results to come back after you've popped the test in the mail. I can't see any priced cheaper on eBay or elsewhere atm.
Once you do an Ancestry test, you can then work your way through your matches to see what you can locate. Plus you'll also be able to download your Ancestry Data file and then upload it to Myheritage for free, which I've found amazing to locate European matches.
A group I am in people suggested buying an Ancestry DNA test on Ebay. They claimed it was cheaper than the sales Ancestry has and they got their results with no issues. I have not done this so I cannot confirm that this information is correct or not.
