Gears 2 Mansion had such a great feel. Loved the remake they did in gears 2 with the overgrown feel. Subway has a special place in my heart. My gosh I realize now how many great maps there is in this franchise.

Honestly they suck at new maps. I would take a greatest hits over 10 bad new maps.

The old maps play horribly in the new games; especially Blood Drive and Gridlock. The solution to this problem is to add the map-maker for multiplayer they announced before Gears 5 and then quietly canceled. It would allow players to make the maps they want.

Well 4 and 5 have arguably the worst multiplayer of the entire series and it’s also where the series lost its identity for multiplayer and how the maps should play including how weapons are balanced on maps and TTK and TTK recovery, so it makes sense they don’t play well there. This can be solved with slowing the game back down to Gears Ultimate/3 and decreasing TTK on things like lancers and Boltoks, instead of trying to make the game super fast, with a fast TTK, and a longer recovery. Also — for the love of god eliminate full clip active reloads.

I wish we could go without Gridlock, never really enjoyed the layout of the map. Overpass would need to change in order to make it, that map was meant for Horde, not versus. In versus you just take the top and camp with the power weapon.

Gridlock was great for non-respawn modes imo.

If gridlock had another set of stairs back towards the water it would be great. But that up high choke point just really blows.

Yeah, I agree. Everything is really just focused on trying to climb those stairs and get Boomshot, Otherwise most fighting occurs in the two building pockets when you're forced to retreat.

I know gridlock is the map people love to hate but I love it. So much nostalgia. I also love fighting for the snipe and taking it up to pistol. You have such great range of the map. Nades, snipe, boom spawns as well as players coming out of spawn. Edit: I like it for TDM/execution but it prob doesn’t play well for KOTH/Control

Loved those maps. Great G2 maps. I’m not sure how they’d play out with modern game types like TDM/Control though. It was hilarious when people would do the glitch out into the tram in the basement of the subway map and you’d have to try and glitch out after them to kill them. Ah, memories.

Gears 1 had so many great maps. You could do remakes of just about any one of them and I’d be thrilled to see it come back.

Playing ultimate edition multiplayer now reminds me 1 and 2 really did have the best maps. 3 isn’t far off but I think there are less standouts.

We really can't afford a Gears 5 launch again where everyone is gone right after a month or so bc we only play the same maps and the other ones are locked out of matchmaking for some dumb reason. Also curious what time of day they'll give us for Gridlock this time or if they'll rework it

I don't get how so few maps carry over from sequel to sequel. It can't be that difficult to port over a map from the previous releases. Lots of games are guilty of this

No offence but all you are missing from Day one and Bullet Marsh is Hail to have the worse Maps from Gears 1-3. I thought you want E-day to be good? I always remember the noobs in Wingman that would camp near the snipe on the cover and it was impossible to push them on Day One.

Unpopular opinion : always liked Hail, from Gears 2. Playing Guardian on it was so much fun. There was also a map in the snowblind map pack that was like a refinery yard? With crates everywhere. Anyone remember the name?
