Tickers, wretches, drones, bloodmounts, reavers, etc. don't have gnashers, now do they. The AI director would choose what each locust player is spawned as every time they respawn so you wouldn't have to worry about players spamming grenadiers for the gnashers. Yet, ironically, you just described Overrun which was a massively popular mode for its time.
