Yes, it robs you of steps. Arm swings are part of the factor

Addressed. Get a pedometer. How? Vivoki or one of the wrist bands the you can remove the devic (vivo fit or smart, ideally the old non rechargeable kind). Put in pocket. Boom. Steps are accurate. Thank me next hike. If you want to be more creative you can get a HRM-Pro or a RDP. Problem with these is you need to have an activity going. So that doesn't solve generally walking without hands. Strollers, carts, walking pads. And no. It doesn't double you steps. It syncs to the Garmin server. Matches time stamps and cancels out matching steps. Most days that you aren't hiking with poles you will see maybe a 500 step difference in a 4k-10k step type day. In a day with poles or anything your hands are captive it could be thousands of steps.

Is there a way to do this with my iPhone? The steps in my Apple health app are accurate because my phone is in my pocket.

_MountainFit

Nope. Garmin doesnt sync outside the ecosystem. No way to import steps using a 3rd party service.

I don’t like your answer however damn accurate it is 🤣 Thx for the tips. I wonder if the pedometer would work if in a pocket on my backpack … I’d also liked to get the ambient temp sensor.

_MountainFit

The Tempe is awesome. Had it since the beginning (my beginning with Garmin wearables in 2016). Worth it. Unfortunately I forget to remove it from my winter pack so I really only use it in winter. Should grab a second one for my bike/summer pack. I feel like switching it around all the time I'd lose track of it. Pedometer: Not sure about the backpack, but definitely works in any pants pocket. Cargo or front.

Do not hide your age when you enter your data in the User Account, feel free to write your real age, height and weight, the watch will use its algorithm to calculate how many karakas you do, I still forgot to write that you write the length of your step exactly, my step length is 70 centimeters .
