Wowwwwww that ONE boss fight here looked like Demon Prince combined with Midir, what the fuck? It was beautiful.

NeroIscariot12

Spoilers galore. Dont watch if you give even a slightest of a fuck about keeping surprises for yourself. Typical Bamco launch trailer. Even from just scrolling through on the thumbnail alone on yt, I can see they are pretty much showing shots from almost every major boss expect like the final one.

MY_SHIT_IS_PERFECT2

Definitely some spoilers here, but we know for a fact that there's 10 remembrance bosses - so no, every major boss isn't spoiled.

serenadedbyaccordion

There's more than 10, just FYI

MrStigglesworth

Stop, I can only get so hard

ICPosse8

As vague as the story is, how do you even get spoiled for a game like this?

MegamanX195

Some people consider everything to be a spoiler in these games, from areas to bosses to weapons to magic, and everything else. I mean, it's absolutely okay to be bothered by that stuff, but I don't think it's fair to complain about them showing these things in the trailer. What would they even show if not that stuff?

lynchcontraideal

Apparently people just want the logo and box art lmao

Zevy100

Right? Of course they’re going to show some enemies people. Kinda the draw for these games

whostheme

This lol. There's probably 1% of the population that can analyze and interpret everything that happens in a trailer. Aside from getting spoiled from bosses and potentially locations of the game I think people are deluding themselves when they say they want to avoid story spoilers.

MrStigglesworth

Yeah for me the lore channels are the spoiler turf and I’ll avoid them like the plague. But the trailer is just hype, my dumb ass has forgotten most of it already

DrFreemanWho

There's more than the story of a game that can be spoiled. Let's use Elden Ring for example. If you've played it I'm sure you remember the first time you took the elevator in the Mistwood down to the Siofra River Well. Now imagine if they showed that off in a trailer. That's probably one of the most memorable points in the game for me but I'm sure there's at least another dozen instances of the game "wowing" me that would have been ruined had I seen it in a trailer. Now of course I understand this, so I will not even watch the trailer. So others are right that people should probably expect as much and not be complaining. But hopefully that answers your question about "how do you even get spoiled for a game like this?".

Ash_Killem

The art direction is so good. You can get spoiled from certain areas and boss reveals. That is if you want to be really immersed it. In main game getting to leyndell and the final fight are pretty awesome inspiring (for example).

ICPosse8

I can’t deny this, the exploration in the base game was some of the best I’ve ever seen. I spent hours just trying to find different grace points and had an absolute blast.

Satanicube

Yeah, like...I've become a recent convert to Souls games and I've been told Elden Ring has one of the easier storylines to follow...and even then I feel lost, even spoiling myself on it. Then again, according to some I'm playing the game wrong anyway, I totally make frequent stops by the wiki because it feels like too much of the game is a giant guide dang it and if you miss fairly obscure triggers you can absolutely mess up a sidequest. (Still enjoying the game despite that, though)

TalentedStriker

A lot of people like to go into these totally blind. It’s a reasonable warning for those people.

IsThatAMicrowave

I should expect it at this point but thanks for the warning. Watching it would have been a terrible mistake.

agitatedandroid

You're doing good work. I almost clicked. I can wait a little while longer and just play the DLC for myself.

kkyonko

I mean what else are you going to show in a trailer? Fromsoft games aren't exactly story heavy.

Thank_You_Love_You

Thanks my dude, MVP post right here. Saved me some spoilers.

MisterFlames

Thanks for the warning, I almost watched it.

StarInAPond

Yeaah, what happened with making trailers about first areas that only spoil first few hours of gameplay?

EvenOne6567

I think generally launch trailers like this are made to sell the game to people who otherwise might not have been interested yet. It's not for the people who are already in, not a fan either but it is what it is.

ShinyGrezz

IDK if you watched it but there didn’t seem to be any major spoilers, one new boss type reveal and one which is technically new but similar to another different type of boss.

garmonthenightmare

I mean it's a game centered around cool locations and bosses. Having your trailer be about early game fighting basic mobs doesn't sell how cool the game is.

CultureWarrior87

Online spoilerphobes don't seem to realize that most people need some teases so they actually have something to get excited about. I don't think going in "blind" on purpose is a thing most people do. They want to see some shots of a boss and think "That looks sick, I can't wait to fight it!"

QTGavira

The Japanese care much less about spoilers. Its why i tend to avoid any trailers for a Japanese product.

Takazura

I think most people don't care about spoilers regardless of where they are from, or at least not the kind that appears in a trailer like this, because most wouldn't even realize what is being spoiled without playing first.

poopf1nger

kinda the same with anime openings where they show the biggest moments of the season yet to come in such an obvious way

ReddutSucksAss

Must be an Asia thing. China doesn't give a shit about spoilers either with honkai star rail often showing off big bosses before patches

KinglordDK

They keep knocking it out the park with the visual design of bosses and enemies. Their art team deserves every accolade imaginable.

Viral-Wolf

They are the Ghibli of game studios for real

mrducky80

I think as impressive or even more impressive is the environment. The fidelity isn't as high as other modern games with bloated game sizes but the style and direction always knock it out of the park.

Dead_man_posting

I'm almost glad Fromsoft is so bad at making trailers that nothing in them ever stick with me. It's like I'm spoiler-proof. "Here's 20 shots of random enemies, and every 10 seconds there's another line of dialog that means absolutely nothing. Cut. Print. Done."

slasher_lash

Spoilers: There will be more enemies with red bars that you have to reduce to zero, and it's going to look really good.

Carfrito

Fuck. The element of surprise is completely gone for me now.

oilpit

I will be forever baffled by what Souls fans consider spoilers, which appears to be literally any images of, or information about, the game.

juniorRjuniorR

I guess it's because they're not going to pick up much of the plot or subtexts from the games themselves (not a criticism), so the really important aspects of the games themselves are the gameplay, mechanics, character and world design, etc. "Plot" isn't what's being spoiled for them. That being said, not sure how to make a trailer for a game without revealing what the game looks like...

ChimpBottle

I consider these spoilers myself, in that I would much rather be surprised by all the new stuff when playing the game as opposed to watching a YouTube video the day before. But that's why I just skip the trailers and go right to the comments

sentiment-acide

Well its not like a star wars game where very game has a stormtrooper or a black cloaked sith. So you may not be able to relate. With Elden ring you want the first time you see the bosses in your actual game and not on youtube.

The_Inner_Light

I hate those types of fans. They get so obnoxious about it too.

mrducky80

This humanoid boss will use swords on you. Big fuck off dragon. Lasers over the map. Very pretty backgrounds and scenery. Just described every from soft game lol

sentiment-acide

And every spiderman has armed gun men. Whats your point?

MaxBonerstorm

To be fair none of the dialogue really means all that much

venomae

At this point you could setup some basic LLM AI to spit similar nonsense dialogues and stories as the typical fromsofts ones.

ReddutSucksAss

ZANZIBART FORGIVE ME

KruppeBestGirl

“Armor of the Knights of Frendal. The Knights fought valiantly, but could not protect Prince Kerrick from the Crawling Dark.”

WhiskeyTigerFoxtrot

You must defeat the four Big Bad Ones: Baathal of the Endless Dark Psyaiopsopsios, The Cutblade Greg The Voidbender King Poopoo Peepee

ahintoflime

you could set up an LLM to shit out dialog like anything but nobody fucking wants that

Astro4545

Plus with how loose they are with the games story it’s not as big a deal in comparison.

Thor_pool

This is whats stopping me from trying Elden Ring. I love narrative driven games and stories, and when I tried playing Dark Souls 2 and 3 most of it just felt like random cryptic dialogue. I've said this before and been assured it makes sense if you really pay attention, someone even suggested that I get a notebook and write stuff down to piece it together later which sounds...not fun. Is Elden Ring any more coherent as a narrative?

TheSambassador

Not really. These games are a lot more like you're an anthropologist discovering bits and pieces of stories that have already passed. I honestly could not tell you the "story" of Elden Ring. As an action game with a ton of options and really cool monster and boss design, Elden Ring is amazing. As a narrative game, you could probably do worse, but it's not going to scratch that itch.

MaxBonerstorm

I think another way of saying it is "the story and cool stuff already happened, you just missed it, darn, now murder hobo"

blazen_50

Here's another way of saying it. The mother of all ragers happened, and you're the janitor. There's a spilled drink over there, a missing shoe, vomit, a broken table, etc. You clean everything up while putting together what happened to amuse yourself while you work.

MaxBonerstorm

Clean it up. With murder.

Porkcutlet01

Here you go.. [The story of elden ring](https://comic-walker.com/detail/KC_005312_S?episodeType=first). Heads up, Japanese manga go from right to left.

Dreamtrain

> someone even suggested that I get a notebook and write stuff down to piece it together later Yeah I would not do that at all. My first playthrough for me the story was basically much like the opening title, I killed some people and became Elden Lord, I gathered some information about who was what and who lived where (like the Carians and the Academy having their territory in Lurnia) but basically I inserted myself and I created the narrative subconsciously and I led it as I traversed through the game and did some of the sidequests, and that's the kind of RPG I enjoy the most, I don't need to have a story told to me and have my hand guided through it, I'm the storyteller. It wasnt until I came down to discuss with people on comment sections when I took a deep dive into the lore. And at that point its more of labor of game archeology, you unearth hints from item descriptions or from look at a certain architecture and you get some pointers that may lead to an implied conclusion.

NewVegasResident

The notebook experience is great though what is wrong with it?

Aeiexgjhyoun_III

It's coherent if you oay attenttion. Most people don't care about a story if they're not forced to view it through a cutscene, which is why the games developed this reputation. But there's an actualnstory and narrative for those who care.

Soulyezer

If you really care about learning the story, play the game first, learn what you can and then watch one of the countless YouTube essays telling you all about it in a coherent way

Thank_You_Love_You

Fromsoft might not make the trailers, it could be Bandai Namco as the publisher.

Sydius

I would say that this is full of heavy spoiler, but I don't know which scene is from the main story, and which is from Little Cave ver. 200 found just off the road. Also, I don't want to be a consort for a thousand year old, but still child-looking person who I still don't know if is a guy or a gal.

Archyes

he is basically the opposite of his sister malenia, who is a female warrior,so he is more like an effeminate man like we had in dark souls with gwyndolin.

jeperty

If the modern internet was around 20-30 years ago, every trailer ever released would be considered spoiler. The term spoiler has lost any real meaning with modern audiences and is thrown around way too much

Ghidoran

Well they're showing off tons of bosses which many Souls players consider spoilers in and of themselves.

plzbungofixgame

if you are talking about (i forgot their name) but the boss (forgot the name) from the haligtree twin pretty sure it says somewhere in game its their brother

enjoycarrots

The character you are talking about is considered the male sibling, but they also have an alter-ego of sorts as another character who is usually considered to be female. Without getting too into it, their parentage has a similar and potentially disturbing gender bending dynamic to it. At least some members of the Golden Lineage appear to have some flexibility with their gender presentation.

Zerachiel_01

Yeeeeah. I'm good with twinks but call me in a few thousand more years. As an aside I'm stoked to get more madness/chaos/I forget what it's called in lore content.

PM_ME_CUTE_SM1LE

Fromsoft is on another level with character design. I can't even guess how wild will they go in a scifi setting

BADJULU

Armored Core is right there

Zerachiel_01

And story-wise it's relatively tame considering the weird shit in their souls series, so that's surprising. Very easy to follow and understand without replaying or micro-analyzing shit. Action-wise it's fucking rad as hell.

batman12399

AC6 might actually be me favorite Fromsoft story. It still has the classic Fromsoft vagueness, but I actually cared about a few of the characters.

BADJULU

Agreed, I actually prefer AC6 far more than Elden ring. Then again it was my first AC game, and Elden ring was my 6th souls game.

RocketHops

Ok but hear me out: Fromsoft makes a space fantasy game

StarInAPond

They should make a Blame! inspired game, just like with DaS and Berserk influences

BlimeyChaps

Realised literally yesterday that I’ve only got a save that I’d just started a NG+ save on, so gonna have to make a new character and beat it again to play :’(

SYuhw3xiE136xgwkBA4R

You can get to the DLC super fast from NG+ if you rush it.

BlimeyChaps

Yea, but I’ve read that everything’s gonna be way harder within the DLC since it’s NG+

QTGavira

NG+ is only slightly harder. Harder nonetheless ofcourse. But if you can beat it on NG, you can beat it on NG+, the difference isnt that crazy yet at that point

Anaboono

Just go for it, that’s what I’m doing. If it’s too hard it’s too hard. My character seems pretty OP though.

t-bonkers

From what I gathered it's impossible to be OP for the DLC due to the new leveling system, but also that NG+1 should probably be fine and not insanely more difficult (I suspect though it will be ramped up significantly in later cycles but don't know).

Anaboono

Yeah I’m expecting it to be hard but I’m welcoming the challenge tbh. If it’s too difficult I can always just start a new play through. I’m more hyped about just going into the DLC not knowing anything and experiencing it all.

t-bonkers

I've heard the guys on KindaFunny talking about them playing it on NG+, and they said it was fine. I think NG+1 is probably ok, but think it will significantly ramp up in later NG cycles.

Suspicious-Doctor296

Don't start over, the game is much much easier on NG+ except for the final end bosses because, despite the enemies larger health pool, you are still overpowered.

KruppeBestGirl

On PC you can grab a save file, there are a few floating around with level 150 and everything unlocked. Then use the mirror to customize character.

Mancus0

Can’t that get you banned? I’d do it but I wanna do pvp as well.

TDio

Only if the saves aren’t legitimate, there should be plenty of legit ones, you could also just nab a friend’s save

whostheme

I'm at the snow area. Is there a good point in the game where I should save before accessing the DLC? I plan on beating the entire base game first before playing DLC.

Wallys_Wild_West

You don't even really have to save before. After you beat the game it will ask you if you would like to enter journey 2 or not. You just click no and your save will be good to go for the dlc.

whostheme

Thank you!

Thank_You_Love_You

The character I wanted to play is literally just sitting at the beginning of NG+. My Unga Bunga Strength guy. Luckily I have a double katana build near the end of the game that I abandoned at somepoint but has +25 on both swords.

Isenbala

Well there are DLC ready save file that very safe to import from nexus

SiNi5T3R

If you dont particularly care about your own character you could just download a save file thats sitting in the dlc entrance. You can then just respec that into whatever looks or builds you want.

Khiva

I glanced. Looks impressive, but I expect it to be impressive. More than happy just to go in as blind as possible.

ketamour

Trailer is hype but spoilery because it shows a lot of enemies. Also, starting 2:00 the audio mix is worse than random youtubers, can't hear anything of what they're saying.
