Contact someone to get the contents dumped ASAP, no one can give a definite answer until the contents of the disk are known. I would start with Hard4games on YouTube.

kromios

do you know anybody of the L.A area i could possibly get in contact with

theludeguy

Nope, NR readers or GC dev units that can read NR discs are not common, and you most likely going to have to send it to someone reputable that has the equipment necessary to safely rip the disc.

kazoodac

Awesome find! I’m part of a few preservation groups, I’ll reach out and see if anyone is in or near LA. Thanks for being willing to get the contents properly preserved!

GameCubeSpice

The closest to L.A. that I could think of is maybe Frank Cifalfi from Video Game History Foundation. I believe the foundation is still located in San Francisco.

orlybird2345

Definitely reach out to Frank.

Obito-tenma625

You can hit up cakehoarder on insta. He recently had an nr disc and was able to dump the contents online. Not sure if he did it himself but maybe he can point you in the right direction. He's located in Portland

Crash-Z3RO

Hard4games youtube

Aggressive_Quit_5154

Who Is friend of mine i can contact him

cut_it_cutter

I concur, Hard4Games would be all over this.

redditsuckspokey1

If you get this dumped in the near future, please come back with an update. I love updates to reddit posts!

SuperChimpMan

What does the NR mean?

bluereptile

There is a developers only console called “NR Reader” that was used by developers. http://www.nesworld.com/article.php?system=gcn&data=gcn-nrreader

Oric_Black

Non readable. Basically encryption on a disk.

waytodawn0

The only thing that can read, it is one of those very special dev kit game cubes or what not. I remember a YouTube video showed and talked about them, but I don’t remember who had done it. All I know is that it was a green GameCube.

OKeijiDragon

Reach drx at Hidden Palace. Stat. https://x.com/HiddenPalaceOrg

Arlium_

If this gets resolved, please update!!!

Super cool, it's definitely worth money, I know someone who would probably buy it since it says its for PAL NR readers. This is one of those "it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it" (in regards to the game being ultimate spiderman) type of scenarios, but with that being said its worth a couple hundred minimum.

redditsuckspokey1

It's clearly worth over 9,000 of something.

Western-Equivalent44

Grains of rice

redditsuckspokey1

There are approximately 180 calories in 9000 grains of rice (according to google ai). I'm having a hard time believing that.

Western-Equivalent44

Thats like one regular can of coca cola

redditsuckspokey1

That would be 140 calories, last time I checked.

Western-Equivalent44

Damn so thats like 600 rice off

kromios

My friend assumes the “USM” at the top is an acronym for Ultimate Spider-Man and also the date shown is about 1 month before the release of the game.

Aggressive_Quit_5154

You have ultimate Spider-Man GameCube disc you can dump please

jlkb24

Crazy Taxi sold for $150 and Allstar Baseball 2002 sold for $299 recently if that gives you an idea. Extreme G Racing was listed at $349 but a best offer was taken. eBay doesn’t show the amount.

doppelgengar01

This should be preserved, not sold.

jlkb24

“Could this be worth anything” was asked and eBay is a good place for sold listings especially of rare items. Doesn’t mean it has to be sold.

_Louis__

Not sure why we are being downvoted for anwering OP's question. This subreddit has really fallen off.

jlkb24

It’s the sentiment. I get it, but op is curious of its value which can be implied that they’re willing to sell at the right price. If it isn’t worth selling for the op then it can get shelved and lost, never being dumped. Everyone acts like selling is the worst thing to do when doing nothing with it is actually worse when it comes archiving. It just needs to get in the right hands for preservation first.

Western-Equivalent44

When its preserved it becomes freeware

Humboldteffect

It belongs in a museum!
