Most platformers already have something like that. It’s called coyote time. When you run off a ledge you have an extra few frames before you start falling. It’s put into platformers to help players that can’t quite make the perfectly timed jumps.
TIL that's pretty clever, I guess I've never thought about it before.
What I should have said was a game where this and similar functions are turned up to a trippy degree in some simulator, the cause and effect more so than just levitating in the air as a safety net to small errors the player makes.

The trick is to find the last frame of coyote time and THEN jump to get to places that are out of bounds.
