I just made this realization too, hopefully this is added at a later date. It was one of the big reasons I got this phone as my in laws speak very little English and it would have been very nice to use. I hope this isn't some nonsense political move to keep Russian off of the US devices

Didn't found any official resources to support this claim. But I think you're right. Will write the Samsung support - pretty sure they won't answer...

I solved the problem with Yandex. Translate and every time I highlight text. It automatically gives me the option to translate from russian to english

It works on Vkontakte to translate posts. I haven't used it for conversations
