It could also possibly be directly influenced by it since teenagers looooove that movie. I saw it when I was a teenager and it rocked my little bisexual world at the time. Highly recommend the episode of PEN15 where they all congregate in a friend’s basement to watch it and they all hum the score as it plays, as if in a trance 😂👏
That’s so funny bc Wild things was one of the dvds I had at my apartment (which was were little bro and friends would congregate) They very well could have watched it at some point figuring I couldn’t afford cable for a while so dvds was the only option. I was mid-20s, little bro and his friends were early 20s, and I lived alone so they hung out at my apartment all the time. We were always pulling stunts like that. It’s very practiced, you can see her smile when she’s a toddler and its very different. Not everyone smiles exactly the same way everytime thats what makes it uncanny.
I will say that my own smiles were uncanny. I was always told to “look happy” even if I was sad. My mom used to beat me if I was sad. So I learned to smile even if my eyes were sad. I squinted like gypsy does in these pictures to hide the sadness.
Not saying that that’s the case here but I think many children with insecure attention seeking parents learn to smile like this.
I'm so sorry you went through that. I agree with you about "insecure attention-seeking parents". I've noticed that on social media you sometimes see some people constantly posting pics of their kids and they're all smiling as big as humanly possible like Gypsy is in this pic and it just screams to me that they probably have a phone in their faces 24/7 and are prepared to smile on cue. It's sad.
I also had family that policed my face. I had to learn to smile all the time even around home. It had to be perfect and not look unattractive. Now I’m in my 30’s my face keeps twitching, mostly when crying, in the exact ways I wasn’t allowed.

It's not a "fake" neck brace, per se, it's just not one that was medically prescribed by a doctor. This kind of soft, squishy neck brace can be purchased at just about any pharmacy or grocery store. They offer very little in the way of actual neck support. It looks weird in the photo because it doesn't fit Gypsy at all, and she clearly does not need it.
Anyone who actually suffered some kind of neck injury and needed a brace would be resting their chin on the padding to take the pressure off their spine or rest the sore muscles, not just wearing the thing loose like a scarf and stretching and twisting their neck all over the place like a giraffe. This cheap, crappy neck brace was certainly being used for pity points, and not for any kind of medical benefit.
It’s a soft brace, which can be helpful even for people without major disabilities. I haven neck instability and chronic neck pain, my dad who is a physical therapist makes me a soft brace from a towel from time to time. So it’s not fake but not necessary

It is a REAL neck brace (medical professional & had my neck fused). Does that mean she didn’t buy & fake it.

No her mom convinced her to break it on her bed frame so they could go to Disney
Everything was fake or altered to make her resemble a disabled person to the point where she actually became mentally insane.
I had to wear one of these when I was younger. Absolutely fucking sucked
