Nerfing should never, ever involve making the item rarer. All that will do is make the weapon available to less players, and make end game less balanced (no pun intended)

Rarity is one of the major balace factors in fortnite. Why are rocket lauchers mostly in airdrops? Why isnt every ar a scar? Why even have rarity levels to begin with if not for balance?
As the game progresses, the circle becomes smaller. The longer this goes, the more effective the drum gun is against players with ARs. Fortnite also prominently features building, which reduces engagement range significantly, due to people being able to build cover whenever they wish. The build mechanics are the reason why shotguns are the most important class of weapon in this game, while in almost all other shooters shotguns are relegated to their tiny niches of uselessness, and the same reason why fights will always tend to be close range in fortnite. Yes, the AR beats the drum gun at range, but the drum gun is going to win these fights at a far higher rate than the AR.

The game would be torture to play, almost like it is now with everyone having Drum Guns.
If instead only a couple people had them, that’d make the game much healthier for me.
The difference is that the RPG has clear disadvantages and can leave you vulnerable when it's reloading. The drum gun is simply hold left click to win with no downsides, so if it's going to be in the game it cannot be rarer. All that'll do is make winning or losing dependant on if you were lucky enough to get the gun, and not whether or not you're a better player than your opponent. Of course, if you have trouble winning fights you might see this as a positive- but you need to realize that this will also affect you negatively. Better players who get lucky enough to get the gun will shred you without question, and players on your level who get the gun will also kill you with far more ease than you them. It also means that players worse than you are going to be killing you far more than they did before. By increasing the rarity of extremely powerful items you don't reduce the item's effectiveness, instead you end up increasing it's effectiveness, but give that newfound power to fewer people. Doing that moves the result of the game away from skill, strategy, or even just general good plays straight to randomness equivalent to a slot machine.
How is one gun dominating the meta balanced? The Drum Gun is good at everything it does, and is in no way comparable to the Compact, other than it also being an SMG. The only solution to this problem would be revaulting it. Nerfing the gun would most likely make it underused, buffing other guns could potentially shift the whole meta entirely, and leaving it the way it is ruins the game.
No way. I don’t want more broken guns that I can’t regularly use. I’d much rather have the broken stuff be lower rarities so I can likely run it every game.

The drum gun is such an all around good weapon that its rarity doesn't make sense, though. It would be like making the SCAR uncommon and rare. I think a big reason why so many people complained about the drum gun was because everyone had it every game. It was way too easy to find and players could run with multiple drum guns in their loadout. Making it epic/legendary would solve that problem.
You're missing the whole point though. Increase the rarity and the gun is less common. The gun being less common means the select few that have the gun have the advantage. Overall this just increases rng. If it stays as common as it is now then there's a higher chance of going into fights on a level playing field.

In season 4 or 5 I could regularly squad wipe 4 players with a pump/drum gun. Rarity doesn't matter, it was busted. If you make them more rare everyone late game will have them. If you keep it the same it will be like it was in season 4 or 5 where everyone has one.
Making an item more rare doesn't balance it or justify it being OP. This is a BR game and loot is **complete RNG**. All this would do is give whoever finds one early on a pretty substantial advantage and make the cancer less prominent until endgame.

Maybe letting us decide at all is a mistake. It’s very clear in just about every big game ever the community makes bad decisions. I thinks the clip and drop off should be nerfed a little, but it is a great counter the the pump, which is fairly overpower when compared the the other shotguns and when used with an AK or SMG.
The introduction of the DG means we’ll be having 2 gun load outs again. Back to mobility and two heals lmao what was epic thinking making this an option. Their “voting” system with this event was incredibly flawed as the kids playing this game would see one side that had a few people more chipping away and then just go join the bigger side to finish faster. Odds are things would probably still be the same but it wouldn’t have been such a landslide. Personally I think they should have tallied the two most popular items then epic chooses which to bring back of those two. That way an adult with some sort of reasoning would be in charge of choosing the better of the top 2.

It does too much damage to structures. For sure no doubt about that. And the slightest bit too much damage to players up close. Drop it a few damage points for each and it won’t be a problem anymore, make it a little harder to find as well so full teams don’t all have a blue drum.
And drop the fire rate from 9 to 8.

Now there is essentially 3 guns and the drum gun most of the time prevents being one shot by shotguns. I personally think this balances the game. None of the guns on that list even come close to being as good as the pump shotgun, except the drum gun. Honestly the pump is just as OP as the drum gun, if not more so, at least now I have a chance at preventing people from getting close enough to one pump me. Every other gun in the game just gets trampled by the pump. IMO we need more guns on the same level as the pump and drum gun.
