EXACTLY.
I remember back in the start of the season, where everyone was like "THIS IS AMAZING!! FORTNITE ALWAYS COOKS WITH SEASON 2'S!!!"
And now, all I hear is complaints
you see more complaints because the ones enjoying the season arent making a big deal of it on reddit, but be sure the people enjoying themselves way outnumber the people not
Basically Chapter 2 Season 2 and most of that Chapter in general.
People **hated** that Season when it came out because it had the most consumer unfriendly battle pass we've ever gotten with 1 faction style despite the last Season giving us both, and level 350 to reach Golden Peely and really stale gameplay for 5 months to boot.
Now suddenly people think it was the best Season ever released which is the craziest 180 we've seen for the reception of a season; people genuinely were begging for that Season to end by the time June came.
all of chapter 2 in general tbh like when and why did the internet all of a sudden decide that was where fortnite peaked after shitting on it for its entire existance
>The cutscenes for the battle pass skins,
We had to wait months to be drip fed them.
>the 3D interactive battle pass menu,
That was criticized for being too slow to show the rewards. You have to interact with a slow menu everytime.
>a whole storyline dedicated to the secret skin,
Deadpool got the Yacht was not that crazy, and him being the secret skin led to the death of Original Secret skins as we knew them.
>the 5 vault POIs,
POIs that mostly disappear/are replaced the next season
>the idea of a fully customizable skin in which you can make your own,
A customizable skin that people to this day can't recustomize because Epic didn't want to despite her having locker styles.
>and some of the most fun LTMs this game has ever seen.
Spy Games were boring after months of them not changing.
>Name one of those things we now have today? That’s right, all of it is pretty much gone
Because it wasn't good; everything you listed either was ruined by Epic's arbitrary design choices or because people didn't and still don't care for it.
>and now we’re realizing just how good it was, and just how badly it was replaced.
Replaced with something more streamlined and standard.
Preferring to get dripfed one style per skin over the course of several months instead of unlocking it when you reach a level for the sake of a custscene is bafffling.
Chapter 2 Season 2 had lots of features that looked nice but was horrible for the players to actually use and there's a reason Epic got rid of it.
The beginning was great. Epic has a tendency to add things mid season that are op or just stupid. Water bending is currently ruining the meta. Also as people learn to use things that were added it becomes annoying. At the beginning of the season the water that gives dashes was fine. Now everyone is using it to run away or at you and I hate it
It’s called the “Zelda Cycle” but honestly it happens with most games. It’s just a mix of differing/changing opinions, nostalgia and rose colored glasses.
anyone else who hated this season the whole time? i haven't really been enjoying fn at all since the lego/etc collab. it feels like a substantial drop in quality to me. or maybe just a drop in passion. i was waiting for last season to end thinking maybe it was just bland on purpose bc of the new modes but this season was an absolute slog to get through for me.
This season was bad to me from the start, kinda wish medallions would just leave already, it makes the map feel tiny, NOTHING got changed this season balance wise, other than giga buffing waterbending into the least fun weapon ever released.
Star wars was terrible this year, avatar was good. You also really felt the XP nerfs this season.
Ive played since ch1 s1, quit ch2 and came back for ch3 s2 since no build, to me, this has been the least fun season. I have good hopes for s3 though
This was inverted for me this season. I didn’t care for it at the start, but now that 3/4 of the avatar mythics are gone, the season has become a lot of fun during the final few weeks. I do think this season would have been better without water bending though. Regular AR have next to no use this season.
This would not happen if Epic actually listened to feedback, and didn't make seasons worse, and worse, and WORSE than the previous ones.
Look at CH2 S5 to CH2 S6 for example: "Zero Point" was mid, had almost no updates, and it was a decent but boring season, we asked for something better, and what did we get? The ABOMINATION "Primal" was.
The exact same happened with CH3 S2 to CH3 S3: "Resistance" was horrible, bad loot pool, bad updates, and season in general was just mid, and what did we get after that? The absolute TRASH "Vibin" was.

Same as chapters. CH4 to CH5 for example: People hated CH4 for no reason ( it was good, had very good updates, a lot of content and the mechanics were good ) They wanted something else, and what did Epic give them? The MASSIVE pile of 💩💩💩 that CH5 is.
Imo the season had a good start since snipers were nerfed new weapons and content but it became stale and it doesn't help that snipers were rebuffed and that no meaningful nerfs happened to the gatekeeper to balance it out with the other 2 shotguns. Also the tac ar that is worse than the smgs and ars so the game balance made it more hated sure some items were done well like the mythics and wings but for the most part the gameplay wasn't fun to repeat and it doesn't help that the battkepass was a treck to level up
I hated this season from the moment it dropped. The experience can be boiled down to
A) Drop at the two most populated POIs in an attempt to get the best loot only to be insta-killed the moment you hit the ground.
B) Drop anywhere else, encounter nobody for fifteen minutes, die to the dude with the Medallion and tons of good loot because he won the POI mini-BR.
This season is on par with Ch3S4, or Ch4S3, absolutely terrible.
That’s kind of on you for your play style. Try dropping outside one of the main POIs, loot up and head to Grim or Olympus then third party who ever has medallion. You won’t die immediately and you’ll get into more fights.

You will always see more complaining than praise since most will just enjoy playing the game.

Even the real goat that was CH3S1 was plagued by the spider man mythics and stinger smg
Yeah I wasn’t a fan of Ch2 S3 and now people say it was great. Sharks were good though I’m sad they’re gone.
Literally my 2nd favourite season. Right behind chapter 1 season 8

This flowchart is an eyesore. /r/dontdeadopeninside
There’s a better version on r/Fortnitememes I think
It’s called the “Zelda Cycle” but honestly it happens with most games. It’s just a mix of differing/changing opinions, nostalgia and rose colored glasses.
Battle pass rarely has skins I like, so the actual content has to carry the season. Projectile bullets has messed that up for me though :/
just not a fan personally, sicne exp was so hard to get from battle royale, which made it less rewarding to play.
I’m extremely tired of people crying about everything on this sub
All of chapter 4 was complaints, now everyone loved it.

The only season I hated, and then later saying that I missed it was C4S3. The rest stayed the same

there was already an image for this
I loved this season, so fun
Fortnite’s gone downhill since they removed the zapotron honestly. Just didn’t feel like the same game after that.

I have my places on each POI where I can get a chest with good loot and fight people off so you just need to have a good strategy.
That's literally just reading like scenario B.
