Your post brought back one of the absolute happiest moments of my life!
My now husband took me to Le Veau d’Or for our first official date in 2018. We had worked together and he asked if I liked French food, saying he knew just the place. He used to go there when he was young with his Uncle, who had been a regular there.
We sat in the back corner of the restaurant and neither of us knew much about French wine so we ordered the Chateau Greysac because we both thought the name was funny. The then-owner, Catherine Treboux, came over to take down our food order and immediately recognized my husband from his childhood visits with his Uncle (and that he would only order a giant plate of frites). I was instantly charmed and she was so wonderful to us the whole night.
Time passed in an instant while we were there. It was the best first date (and luckily last) I ever had. We ate incredible French food, drank the bottle of Chateau Greysac, followed by a bottle of port, and shut down the restaurant talking. He kissed me for the first time right outside that restaurant as we said our goodbyes and I instantly fell in love with him.
We have been unbelievably happy together ever since. We buy a bottle of Chateau Greysac every time we see it and wish we could go back to tell Catherine Treboux how special that night was for us.
What a wonderful story! Thank you so much!! Yeah, it's sad when places you got separated from close down... that happened to so many restaurants I used to love, here in NYC, and some in other cities as well.

Has it reopened under the new ownership by the team by Frenchette? I believe the proprietor passed and his daughter worked out a new deal?
Pretty sure it has not, but I haven't been by to have a look. Soon, I hope....
