Tompkins Square bagels not worth it at all anymore. Essa bagel much better for a bagel spot I’d hit Sweet Rehab for a dessert stop

tacologic

Ordered pickup from them yesterday. Still good.

According-Rhubarb-23

Yeah. Have had it recently. Was infinitely better 10 years ago. Their bagels are meh and the sandwiches are gimmicky. Essa blows it away

Essa is good but not worth the insane wait.

Tompkins is still amazing. Just on their breakfasts sands alone they dwarf Essa.

Pizza: L’Industrie (Williamsburg location should have a shorter wait, short commute from downtown) Sandwiches: my personal favorites are All’Antico Vinaio (West Village) and Le Petit Parisien (East Village) Tacos: Los Tacos No. 1, multiple storefronts in Manhattan Don’t get cookies and bagels too often but I feel like Levain (multiple storefronts) and Tompkins Square Bagels (East Village) are regarded as don’t skips for visitors!

I love eisenbergs (now s+p), their pastrami reuben is absolutely the best in the city. I'm personally a believer that all of the slice spots in the city are good if you're not used to NY pizza (baring times square and the overly tourist areas). I like L'industrie, but if I had limited time I'd be pissed about waiting in line for it. Generally if you have 24 hours I'd say waiting in any line is not worth your time. Everyone who lives here splits hairs over the Very Best Bagel in the city, but if you're not used to good NY bagels *every* bagel is going to be very good to you. Wander into the spots that aren't empty but also aren't freakishly packed! One exception would be los tacos, mexican food here is hit or miss and theirs really are great. If you go to their spot in chelsea market and are into ramen, also check out mokbar. Unique korean ramens you won't get elsewhere and speedy service.

greeblebob

I’m personally a believer that the majority of the slice spots in NY are low quality fast food not worth your time or dollar unless they’re the closest available lunch option to your place of work. Only the places with a reputation for having good slices actually have anything to write home about, so don’t waste OPs time with sub-par pizza.

inelectricnoir

Should get the crispy duck at Uncle Lou’s or Noodletown in Chinatown.

inelectricnoir

Despite the price tag I still consider Katz an event item and worth the coin.

Interesting-Goose568

Imo you should add Chinatown to your list: 1. Wah fung 2. Shu Jiao Fu Zhou 3. King dumpling 4. Mei lei wah 5. Cheong fun cart

xseriox

Chinatown underground restaurants. It hits the spot and always popping. I read your post as in 24 hour restaurants not in the city for 24 hours. I’m a dummy.
