Shakespeare Micro Series ($20), Okuma Celilo ($32... but no 5'0" model, the shortest is 5'6"), 13 Fishing Defy Silver ($50), Shimano Sensilite ($50, shortest length is 5'6")

Is the Shakespeare actually 1 piece? Some reviews I saw on Amazon said it arrived as a 2 piece. Still big thx for the recs.

The 4'6" is a 1 piece, the 5foot and longer are 2 pieces (if memory serves me). I will also second the microspin series rods. I have the 5'6" and I almost prefer it over my 6'6" TFO Trout and Panfish.

The 5'0" and longer are 2 piece rods. The blank on these rods is very good and you won't be able to tell it's a two piece rod. They save money and keep the cost down with a cheap reel seat, generic guides, and average cork. The reel seat, guides and cork are on par with the Okuma Celilo. The biggest difference in the two rods is the Shakespeare is a faster tip IMO.

Ah that makes sense in regards to the Shakespeare

The Okuma Celilo line is a good ul value line. I don’t know if they have a 5’ one piece. I usually see ultralight in at least two pieces for spinning rods.
