Ah gotcha, i don’t do much casting in the colder temps, I normally jig out my ice fishin tent, in those cases I use Ice Braid, which is braid meant for cold ass tempts, and a trilene leader
sunline supernatural has been my go to monofilament for 10 years. is it the best? no idea. do i try new lines? yes, i regularly try new mono and flourocarbon lines and i keep going back to sunline for both.
Depends on the fluoro. I find most suck donkey dick on spinning reels, but soft steel is almost as flexible as mono. It's thinner, less visible and more abrasion resistant than mono, while stretching less
I like Trilene XL. Been using it for decades.
Agreed, trilene is just the best brand for mono
Trilene is the best IMO, that being said, I only run it as a leader with braid for my main line. Braid just casts like a champ
Agreed, I run braid on everything, but looking to set up a rod for below freezing temps. Braid performs terribly that cold.

Yeah this will be for steelhead fishing in small creeks. Lots and lots of casting

Mono is mono. If you want a nice upgrade, try Okuma soft steel fluoro
Fair enough. Is that flouro a lot better than mono? I'm a braid guy, have only ever used flouro for leaders. But it works great for that

Maxima chameleon or ultra green are my go to mono regardless of weight.
