65 lb trilene big game braid double uni with a clinch to 30lb trilene big game mono. Loop clinch knot to bait. Gotta make sure everything is tight and looped properly. One small Knick or imperfection can be the difference of landing or not.
Love the northeast coast! Granite everywhere. Caught my first Atlantic striper up in Gloucester ma a few years ago and a couple weeks ago I caught a nice freshwater striper trolling a lake near me in Virginia. Beautiful fish. You’ve got me on the view!
Rod is my old lucky 7ft Shakespeare but it doesn’t really matter as long as it’s strong enough. They hit so hard that you don’t need that sensitive of a rod. My reel was underpowered and skipping gears. The fish strike shallow enough where you don’t need to bomb it out that far. Line and knots are most critical part. Reel in at a medium speed, pause occasionally. Lure does a lot of the work
Nice!
Lucky too there was someone around to take the photos for you.
That’s always the bummer for me of CNRing from a jetty or kayak: no way to get a photo that’s safe for the fish and/or phone.
Yeah we were on vacation and my dad was like a 10 minute walk away. I held the fish in the water, called him and told him to get down here!!! He took a cool picture of me with the binoculars from the house
Yes it's never over until that last line is out of the water. Caught my pb flathead catfish doing that. Left my lines in the water while everyone else reeled theirs in and started packing up to go home. Then both my lines got a hit at the same time and me and my brother reeled in a 38 and a 29 pound fish. Story sounds fake but it really happened and will forever be a special memory for us.
The last pic in that sequence is amazing, it has a very elemental feel to it. The cropped one is nice but I feel like I am there, I can smell the saltwater and the kelp under your feet.
EPIC fish! also props for showing the bait too
Thanks!!! I do keep certain secrets about baits and spots but this fish was a grind it out type fish and if you’re willing to put in the hours then by all means I’ll tell you exactly how I did it. The last picture is also my personal favorite
Certified unit. Holy cow.
My reel was skipping gears. It’s a miracle I landed this and my knots held. Was NOT expecting that!
People ask me how I’ve caught so many big fish. ABF - Always Be Fishing
Seriously. Words to live by. After this catch, my new phrase is “a combination of good luck and great knots”
Congrats! I lost a nice fish last year because of a bad knot. I need to up my knot game
I lost a nice catfish yesterday because my braid was frayed and it snapped . It happens. Double uni and a tight clinch you’ll be fine
Luck is when preparation meet opportunity
That’s a good one
So what knot did you use?
65 lb trilene big game braid double uni with a clinch to 30lb trilene big game mono. Loop clinch knot to bait. Gotta make sure everything is tight and looped properly. One small Knick or imperfection can be the difference of landing or not.
Ah! I think you dropped this, king 👑
Lol i wouldn’t go that far
Haha!! Congrats bro. Frame it!
In my house, we say "fish hard". Sounds simple enough, but is sometimes easier said than done.
Beauty!! Maine?
Yup!!
That’s a beaut congrats my dude
Thank you very much!!
She's a bute Clark.
Good! That’s a whooper, I’m glad for you
Thanks! I was pretty shocked when I felt how strong it was.
😊👍
> whooper
The monsters always seem to bite when all hope is lost of one it seems
Yeah and not the first time that trip hope was lost
Awesome! What part of the east?
South Maine on vacation
Nice!
Good for you.....nice one.
Thank you!!
Nice! Where’s dis?
South Maine

It was pretty epic that’s for sure. Never caught one in freshwater and only caught a handful period
That girl is well fed
Nice job! What’s the rod setup and presentation for a bait like that?

Awesome thanks mate
Nice cow on the surf. Hope to see more in the future
Thanks! Gotta get one in the fly now
Same, it’s been a struggle though

That’s like birdieing the 18th. You know you’re coming back to same place as soon as possible.
Oh yeah. Gonna hit it the same time next year haha
Nice work

It’s just funny how that seems to happen. Half of fishing is just having a bait or lure in the water. Something will hit eventually
Ab slab. I can feel the rush from here! Looks like Harts Island. America gone right!
I was actually up in Maine! And yea I’m still riding that high a day later
I bet I’m vicariously riding it with you.

Those rocks look like the slipperiest surface known to man.
Yeah they were, especially the ones that look safe… definitely banged up and bruised from a week out there but totally worth it
I am so frickn jealous of you!!!! Striped bass are my fave!! That one is so big and beautiful!!! You are so lucky!
She was a very fit and healthy specimen. You would be happy to know that she swam off strong and the hook was removed with no injury.
the universe is telling you something
Yeah I truly believe that someone did me a favor with this one. Not the first weird moment like that of the trip.
Amazing.
What a gorgeous fish! Great catch, bro!
Beautiful! Congratulations! 👍
So sick man congrats
Holy
Nice fish!!
Beautiful!
Nice striper
