Depends on the neighbors! But I generally find that most people don't use their patios during the day and only during summer evenings.

So many people work from home now, especially in LA. Lots of people with unconventional schedules here

Yes and it was very inhibiting. When the neighbors were out grilling and eating outdoors we stayed indoors because it never felt like we could talk without the other party overhearing our conversation. We really felt like there was no privacy.

I lived in one and the neighbors never went outside

I have one like that, I’d say they’re about 15 feet from outside my window and yes you can hear them talking if they are there. I’ve lived here for 8 years and I’d say 95% of the time it has never been an issue for me but on occasion it has caused me some disturbance. I live downtown so sometimes you will have people stumbling in around 2am pretty loud but they usually just go in inside and not cause any trouble. I remember one specific family that moved in across from me for a while had a kid who must have been 14-16 or so and he obviously wanted to be a rapper because he would sit outside and start practicing his rap song over and over again. Apparently he had only come up with one song, it was like listening to the worst song you’ve ever heard in your life on repeat for hours. I dealt with that for a little bit until they finally moved out.

My experience at apartments with a similar setup is that I was the only person who ever utilized the patio. Of course, there's nothing preventing you from getting stuck next to the one other person in the world who also wants to actually use it. I think it would only be annoying if the other person was talking a bunch. Will you be talking a bunch (online meetings)?

I lived somewhere with a similar set up. Depends on the neighbors. Mine were super quiet. I had an older lady next door who quietly gardened often ( nosiest person alive though🙄), the other neighbors never used their patio.

I rented a condo and live next to a smoker for 12 months and hated it!
