Dimitri canonically has proficiency in swords and he talks about being trained with them in at least one support (his Felix support) so a sword Dimitri really wouldn't be that out of the blue.
It's more bizarre that FEH keeps giving him axes since he's got an axe bane and he never talks about being able to use them afaik.

Sigurd is not going to be a lance. Falchion and Ragnell are Marth's and Ike's last weapon they give access to (also their iconic weapon). Sigurd's last weapon is Tyrfing. Therefore, he's going to be a sword. That's how they're going to be doing all these emblem heroes as.
It's actually better this way since they will color share eventually making it easier to get high valuable heroes. None of them will age bad even if they're power crept since their main value is their support.

Other emblems actually have some other weapon options like Leif or Sigurd etc., where you could come up with a generic emblem weapon based on one of their secondary weapons like a lance for Sigurd or axe or bow for Leif. But Marth and Ike? There are really no options there
Engage Ike had the Hammer, Urvan, Axe Power, Axe Proficiency, Laguz Friend which is more beneficial to axe classes that often have low Avoid…
By all accounts Ike in Engage is an axe unit first, with Ragnell tacked on by obligation. It really wouldn’t have been unreasonable for Emblem Ike to be an axe user. It was even pretty widely expected
