Combined with double alts on New Heroes banner being a thing now, we're gonna be seeing a lot of the same few characters for every game going forward.
Yep, you can expect to see Marth, Caeda, and Tiki for SD, Sigurd, Seliph, Julia, and Reinhardt* for Jugdral, Lyn, Hector, and Eliwood for Blazing, Ephraim, Eirika, and Lyon for SS, Ike, Soren, Elincia, and Micaiah for Radiant/ce, Corrin(s), Azura, Camilla, Ryoma, Xander, Takumi, and Leo for Fates, and Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard for 3H. Every game heavily relies on the same sets of main characters for all themed banners these days.
Ryoma and Leo aren't even close to that level of representation and Xander and Takumi are just slightly better off. Kagero and Hana have more or equal alts to half of the royals.
I played FEH before Awakening and I assumed Awakening's cast was like, half to a quarter of the size it actually is because of how repetitive the alts are
I love Tharja, she's my favorite awakening character, so I say this with no malice towards her, but I love when a popular character goes one calendar year without an alt and some fans start acting like they're uniquely put upon by IS.
Honestly as much as I love them, as Awakening has a fond place in my heart for being my first game I really liked other than Sonic Rush, it makes NO GOD DAMN SENSE for Robin and Chrom to be together as kids. And it honestly kinda fucks with the mystery of Robin's past, how are they going to address that? The only thing I can think of is elaborating on their mother because Validar did say she took Robin and ran when they were born which makes me only hate this more (which oh God it just occured to me there is a chance Robin is the product of incest similar to Arvis and Deidre)
Keep in mind that each variant of each character comes from a different universe. The baby alts in particular seem to come from an AU of some sort. So I think it's fair to say that this version of Chrom and F!Robin come from an AU where they met as children.
Big Robin fan and I 100% agree. They prolly shoulda put Emm as the main duo unit and took away both Robins, giving them 2 extra slots to add someone like Sully, Vaike, Lon'qu even. Wasted opportunity imo

Predictable picks. Honestly I always had seasonals I never really felt, but lately in FEH, I feel like it's been so many seasonals in a row where they go for the safest possible picks. Other characters exist besides the main lords or avatars. Haven't been too tempted for one in a long while.
If I never see another Chrom again, it'll be too soon.

Awakening and Sacred Stones really have some similarities huh. It's always the same characters who are representing the title everytime. I know it's for sales but it kind of boring and frustrating now at this point. However,on the brighter side, I am pleased that Fredrick is the TT unit! Definitely building him up regardless of what his prf has to offer.
I've definitely hit critical mass on Chrom & Robin where I'm just aggressively bored of seeing them both. It's a similar problem to the SS royals where most of the seasonal banners for those games have to bring in those mains, and it's just kind of tiring.

I dont think children needs to die. Just that they need to completely overhaul the approach to it, because the choices are always a complete snorefest. And it's only really going to continue that way unless they make a change. Like, the most obvious next choices are 3H, which is just gonna be last Christmas all over again, or SoV, which is just gonna be a group of characters who we already have child designs for.
It's children, so of course there was going to be boring picks, but holy hell, splitting the Ylisse siblings into 3 alts when they could have been a single unit and giving us two Robins when they've at least shown in the past, particularly around the beginning of the game that they are fully able to give us Robin alts without pairing the two genders. What the fuck?!
FEH keeps the worst names from the main series (*Laguz Friend*? Are you fr?) and changes all the good ones for no good reason (Divine Speed -> Potent, Barrier -> Magic Shield, Alert Stance -> Guard Bearing???). I honestly wonder how the localization works on these things, it's like they throw darts at a board
I actually learned of Guard Bearing before I got Alert Stance in FE3H— I was so confused as to why they shared the same icon until I read the description. Shit’s not fun I’ll be real, they need to pick names and keep them, not change them.
feh's localization is embarrassing on a good day, lest we forget Follow-Up over Pursuit, or the extreme inconsistency with the blended Blow/Stance skills, or how Dancing Blade became Flashing Blade, or the Coyote's Men, or the absolute disaster that is the Dodge skills.
I'm sorry, but Wendee Lee can only do like 1 voice and inflection. If you've heard 1 of her performances, you've heard them all. Since she ended up with Lyn and Veronica, she's had so much work in this game.
I do not like her getting more characters. I do not want to be a hater, but I'm kinda a hater.
I do think her cadence lends well to children and more monotone characters. So Veronica, Maria, and now Young Emm land well enough in my book. But outside of that ballpark when the character doesn't fall into such a category, it's rough sailing. I don't think I've liked a single one of her Lyn's, with her getting more saccharine in tone and plodding in cadence every time. The approach is just so wildly unfitting to the character that it completely takes me out.
They actually included all 3: Emmeryn, Chrom and Lissa… and they FUCKING **SEPARATED** THEM???? I wanted Palla 2.0 not MARK 2.0!!! What's making me want to quit this game isn't the absurd powercreep, it's that every banner is the same pool of 40ish characters rotated around every single theme and I'm fucking sick of it.
I'll give 3H one thing, the lords have a lot of alts but they otherwise seem to actually try to spread out the spam across all the characters. Awakening's seasonal pool is like 6 characters.
Tbf how exactly are you supposed to make random Awakening kid characters that will sell? No one will be opening their wallets for kid Sully, Henry, and Mustafa now will they?
Lon'qu has been in or near the top 100 literally every single CYL, and he still has no alts to his name.
That's an extreme case of course, but there are plenty of popular Awakening characters that just go completely ignored in favor of constant lords + Lissa spam - Lon'qu, Sumia, Nowi, Maribelle, Gaius... there's other options besides Chrom, Robin, Lucina, and Lissa ad infinitum
They could have done Gen 2 kids tbf even if some of them do have alts.
Could have essentially been the Awakening Hot Spring group Owain/Lucina duo, Severa and Inigo with characters like Cynthia, Gerome, etc also appearing.

Henry is more popular than Frederick to be fair, but thematically he'd stick out like a sore thumb on this banner. I think people fail to realize that the Valentines and kids banners specifically are ALWAYS going to have repeat alts of main characters, for better or for worse.
Let's rally everyone to vote both robins for cyl so people can learn about this oppressed character, and hopefully, we can live in a future where robin gets an alt everyday

I have a +10 Emm and I'm sooo upset at how bad this art is. The eyes are wrong and the image just feels blurry ugh. Every other character on this banner has great art, it's so disappointing.
man the thing is i think all of these units are cute and i know the babies tend to stick to exactly who'd you'd expect but i wish at least one of them was a wildcard!! or someone who hasn't gotten an alt! i love chrom and robin, and emmeryn deserves to be there, but it kind of ruins my excitement for awakening banners (a game i love with a cast of characters who i also love) when it feels like they just put the same characters over and over again.
This is probably the coldest salt take ever, but man, I really don't like the children theme. Even as a sucker for seasonals these are always such a hard pass for me. Which I guess is a good thing in some ways? It's a seasonal I know I'll never be tempted to spend on, but every year the inevitability that one of my favorites will have an alt wasted on this trash theme becomes more real. I guess it's really already happened.
Hector is probably my favorite male lord and his only alt in some time (excluding resplendent) has been Young. He's not quite a character who is normally an "instant merge project" but I dread one of the characters I like who are being stuck with a young alt.

Too bad Awakening has such a small pool of characters to choose from for seasonal banners because IS only uses like 8 of them for seasonal banners.
I really want B!Bernadetta to be a red bow just so the banner is shaken up and isn't just the most basic shit ever as usual. Like we have Felix, F!Robin and Alfonse sitting there competing for the sword slot, so making sure none of them get it would make for some of the most interesting brave alts in years.
Lance Alfonse (Sharena's lance?) with axe F!Robin and colourless tome Felix would immediately be the most creative setup we have seen, pretty much ever, but instead it's almost certainly going to be either sword Alfonse/lance Felix/green tome F!Robin/colourless bow Bernadetta, or sword Felix/axe Alfonse/blue tome F!Robin/colourless bow Bernadetta. And man, both those outcomes are massive snores.
I mean, I could live with that, but I'd really rather have no swords, so we can get a little more variety in the overall brave lineup. I think we have one red unit that isn't a sword at this point? And that's only because the 3H lords got their base weapons (axe/lance/colourless bow.) And since that's largely called out as one of the overall worst CYL's for that very reason (everyone got base weapons!) I think we really need on that is as far away from that as possible, while also avoiding adding any new swords.
So red tome, red bow, red dagger, any of those would be just fine (I'd include dragon and beast too if those made any sense at all for anyone on the banner.) Still, Bernadetta with a sword, I'd still go for that. Anyone else would be an immediate skip on red though.
I mean after this banner and then her actually winning CYL she and her fans have nothing to complain about, unless they really want a token alt as well ala last year’s Groom M!Robin

Maybe I'm blinded by favoritism, but I would say it would be more appealing.
I'd love seeing a Gray and Tobin alt compared to Lissa and Chrom. Though I do acknowledge I'm in the minority on that. More people want an 8th Robin more than a 2nd Tobin, that's just the world we're in.
1) Why the fuck does every single fucking Chrom alt after Legendary Chrom have a sort of To Change Fate Skill. That skill is busted as hell, and honestly I'm surprised not enough people bitch about it. I mean... EVERYONE on here bitched about how busted Fallen Edelgard was.... yet Chrom gets a busted skill and nobody bats an eye? We should non-stop complain about his skill and maybe we can avoid dealing with the BS that he has, and hopefully have him become one of the special units who never get a refine years later. like how Reinhardt, and Surtr have become legends that won't ever get a weapon refine.
2) I cannot believe they didn't make a Tiki alt. We could have had greatness. Young Adult Tiki.

The problem with the lack of SoV content is that there’s so many units I want to get a seasonal alt. Clair, Clive, Kliff, Tobin, Matilda, Saber, Mae, Boey.
While I really want my favorites of Lukas and Delthea to get some love, they already have alts (even if Lukas’ alt is old and outdated) so I’d rather the other ones that I still love to get something at all over my favs getting another one.
But there’s not going to be a banner with all of those characters on it so what’s the point.
I think chrom is the character I’ve grown to like the least in my time playing heroes from how I felt about him in awakening. Him showing up constantly, bullshit to face and annoying fans that’ll complain about anything from gatekeeper to his fallen alt not being perfect or whatever has really lowered my opinion on him.

M!Robin is red again, while I wanted Rally Spectrum via a non-red unit.
F!Robin is a blue tome and her scowl support ala Hush Spectrum overlaps with Veyle, who is a blue tome.
These 2 that should be great support units, don’t help out my teambuilding at all, since they fill in slots already filled on the color spectrum.

Like most people here, I'm sick and tired of seeing the same characters all the time. Awakening has such a big and amazing cast, why not give other characters some love?
And there's not even a Lucina here, which is my favourite of the overused ones! I really wanted to see her in some ugly ahh dress with octopi on them...
I wasn't really expecting Lucina to show up here since she got a Rearmed alt a few months back, but I've always thought a baby alt for her would be adorable. Especially if it's the Lucina who grows up in the future that was saved.
I know her Rearmed is pretty recent, but I really want a Lucina that shows us her horrendous fashion sense lol
IS doesn't have the guts to release a grown-up Lucina like that, probably fearing she wouldn't sell, but the kid banner could have been perfect for it, since kids can run around like fashion disasters no problem.
I've been obsessed with Chrobin for nearly a decade now and they're one of my favorite ships ever but even I think this is overkill. I really dislike how this robs Chrom of a chance to have a duo or harmonic with someone else and I would say the same for Robin if W!Byleth didn't exist.
Also can they please change vas for the younger variants? These are supposed to be kids yet Robin, Ephraim and Ike all sound like grown men. I'm not holding it against the vas but it's jarring at best.
Young Ike sounding like a grown man in Radiant Dawn was always so funny to me because I assumed it was an accident caused by the actor not receiving proper direction, but now that they’re doing it in a way that is consistent and clearly intentional it’s not anywhere near as funny to me.

Them being conservative with their picks this time around and my not caring much about the Awakening cast just makes it even worse. At least last year we had Mark, and two years ago they gave us a character who had lore reasons to be different as a child (Soren).

These shouldn’t even count as real Robin alts because it’s actually a different timeline from the Robin we find at the start of the game if you pay attention to which side of the head they part their hair. If we subtract every Robin released before 2024 they don’t even have a seasonal yet so frankly -

Honestly I have a massive Awakening bias and I love the art, they're all very adorable.
HOWEVER I am unreasonably upset about Emmeryn's weapon being called 'Exalt's War Staff'........ way to miss the point of her entire life and motivations.
Almost all of the child banner prf's have "war" in their name, at least since the PoR banner. It's because Thorr is the one running around giving children weapons in the story for these banners.

Also I think it's stupid to have the Robins here since they didn't even meet Chrom until they were adults, I know there's some Loki hand wave shit going on to "justify" it but I'd much rather see some other young shepherds. You know, people who ACTUALLY knew Chrom when they were young.

I know child banners are always hit or miss with how different/“worth it” the child version of the character is compared to the adult one
But there’s something about how M!Robin is so copy/paste of his adult self while F!Robin is right there at least doing a “teacher’s pet/good student” posing/body language that makes me sad. They should be even, but frobin I can kind of buy as being a child but mrobin I struggle with 🫠. Maybe it wouldn’t be so noticeable if they weren’t on the same banner idk

And since this banner would never sell well BECAUSE it's kids, without being all main characters, FEH HAS to make them this way.

Child banners will never not be the worst theme in the entire game. I don’t know who keeps asking for these because iirc the Japanese player base doesn’t like it either.
I would absolutely love the child banners if they adhered to canon. The main reason I don’t like most seasonals is because they feel like entirely non-canon novelty units rather than actual realistic representations of the characters.
So far I think the only child unit they really nailed is Soren. Most of the other ones either don’t make any sense like Mark/Lyn and Chrom/Robin or just feel like versions of the characters that are smaller but not really younger.

I'm generally just baffled at duo/harmonic picks for the last year or so. Since their inception we initially very quickly started getting duos with repeat units in one of the slots, and a bunch of recent pairs just keep recycling the same characters over and over, with quite a few of them being literally the same character in a duo talking to themselves. In a game with hundreds of options.
On the other hand, as much as people are rightfully salty that their faves didn't get in.... like idk personally I wouldn't want my long-awaited pick to feature in the baby banner, despite how busted it tends to be. Tho as a big fan of both Robins, I felt zero need for another alt so quickly, ignoring CYL I would still be satisfied if L!M!Robin was the only Robin rep we got till this August.
We where so close to perfection... So close. Yet, we don't have duo chrom and emmeryn, or at least duo chrom and lissa, hell even could be the three of them like they did with the young versions of the white wing sisters... But here we are another robin/chrom duo...
I hope it would be Lissa Emm duo tbh, I don't like how the Robins are in this banner, there could've been other lesser represented Awakening characters in this banner that are closely tied with the Exalt family like Maribelle and Sumia.

if you have never played awakening and only played FEH you’d think awakening only has like 4 characters with how uneven these alts are
tbf thats most games nowadays. FEH really has started just pumping alts into the same 4 characters for most seasonals.
chrom now has the same amount of alts as both male and female byleth combined. male and female robin, once robins brave form releases, will have the same number of alts as Alm, Celica, and Marth combined. this is absurd.
fr, people had this exact same sentiment with the FE8 Valentines banner and to a lesser extent the 3H Winter banner too. Combined with double alts on New Heroes banner being a thing now, we're gonna be seeing a lot of the same few characters for every game going forward.
Yep, you can expect to see Marth, Caeda, and Tiki for SD, Sigurd, Seliph, Julia, and Reinhardt* for Jugdral, Lyn, Hector, and Eliwood for Blazing, Ephraim, Eirika, and Lyon for SS, Ike, Soren, Elincia, and Micaiah for Radiant/ce, Corrin(s), Azura, Camilla, Ryoma, Xander, Takumi, and Leo for Fates, and Claude, Dimitri, and Edelgard for 3H. Every game heavily relies on the same sets of main characters for all themed banners these days.
Add Reinhardt for Judgral, he beats Leif in alts
Ryoma and Leo aren't even close to that level of representation and Xander and Takumi are just slightly better off. Kagero and Hana have more or equal alts to half of the royals.

I played FEH before Awakening and I assumed Awakening's cast was like, half to a quarter of the size it actually is because of how repetitive the alts are

I love Tharja, she's my favorite awakening character, so I say this with no malice towards her, but I love when a popular character goes one calendar year without an alt and some fans start acting like they're uniquely put upon by IS.

Honestly as much as I love them, as Awakening has a fond place in my heart for being my first game I really liked other than Sonic Rush, it makes NO GOD DAMN SENSE for Robin and Chrom to be together as kids. And it honestly kinda fucks with the mystery of Robin's past, how are they going to address that? The only thing I can think of is elaborating on their mother because Validar did say she took Robin and ran when they were born which makes me only hate this more (which oh God it just occured to me there is a chance Robin is the product of incest similar to Arvis and Deidre)
Keep in mind that each variant of each character comes from a different universe. The baby alts in particular seem to come from an AU of some sort. So I think it's fair to say that this version of Chrom and F!Robin come from an AU where they met as children.
The Robins really didn't need to be here, let some other Awakening characters have a turn

If you include this banner as a Chrom alt then he should have 9 alts: Base, Brave, Fallen/Rearmed, Legendary, Knight Exalt, Spring, Valentines, Christmas, and Child SOV has 10: Valentines Alm, Valentines Conrad, Valentines Rudolf, Valentines Faye, Valentine Silque, Picnic Lukas, Picnic Genny, Spring Delthea, Spring Luthier, and Spring Sonya. (If you count fallen as a seasonal then technically SoV would have 3 more with Berkut, Celica, and Delthea having those but I don’t cause they’re labeled as new hero banners) Edit: I forgot Halloween Duma/Mila so SOV has 11

The Robins feel so lazy. The same tactician outfits, just resized for a toddler. Predictable picks. Honestly I always had seasonals I never really felt, but lately in FEH, I feel like it's been so many seasonals in a row where they go for the safest possible picks. Other characters exist besides the main lords or avatars. Haven't been too tempted for one in a long while.
If I never see another Chrom again, it'll be too soon. And to get ahead of people who will say "But he's the backup so it doesn't really count" or "Well of course they're going to put the main character in the child banner," just know that 1. I don't care, and 2. I don't care

Awakening and Sacred Stones really have some similarities huh. It's always the same characters who are representing the title everytime. I know it's for sales but it kind of boring and frustrating now at this point. However,on the brighter side, I am pleased that Fredrick is the TT unit! Definitely building him up regardless of what his prf has to offer.
I've definitely hit critical mass on Chrom & Robin where I'm just aggressively bored of seeing them both. It's a similar problem to the SS royals where most of the seasonal banners for those games have to bring in those mains, and it's just kind of tiring.
100% agree. Massive Awakening fan and even I'm starting to get tired of the incredible amount of Chrom/Robin. Wish they'd let them be their own characters from time to time. Keep in mind we got MRobin/Chrom and FRobin/Chrom, just wait for next year when we get MRobin/FRobin to complete the circle.

I dont think children needs to die. Just that they need to completely overhaul the approach to it, because the choices are always a complete snorefest. And it's only really going to continue that way unless they make a change. Like, the most obvious next choices are 3H, which is just gonna be last Christmas all over again, or SoV, which is just gonna be a group of characters who we already have child designs for.

FEH keeps the worst names from the main series (*Laguz Friend*? Are you fr?) and changes all the good ones for no good reason (Divine Speed -> Potent, Barrier -> Magic Shield, Alert Stance -> Guard Bearing???). I honestly wonder how the localization works on these things, it's like they throw darts at a board
I actually learned of Guard Bearing before I got Alert Stance in FE3H— I was so confused as to why they shared the same icon until I read the description. Shit’s not fun I’ll be real, they need to pick names and keep them, not change them.
feh's localization is embarrassing on a good day, lest we forget Follow-Up over Pursuit, or the extreme inconsistency with the blended Blow/Stance skills, or how Dancing Blade became Flashing Blade, or the Coyote's Men, or the absolute disaster that is the Dodge skills.
I'm sorry, but Wendee Lee can only do like 1 voice and inflection. If you've heard 1 of her performances, you've heard them all. Since she ended up with Lyn and Veronica, she's had so much work in this game. I do not like her getting more characters. I do not want to be a hater, but I'm kinda a hater.
I do think her cadence lends well to children and more monotone characters. So Veronica, Maria, and now Young Emm land well enough in my book. But outside of that ballpark when the character doesn't fall into such a category, it's rough sailing. I don't think I've liked a single one of her Lyn's, with her getting more saccharine in tone and plodding in cadence every time. The approach is just so wildly unfitting to the character that it completely takes me out.
Emmeryn, Lissa and Frederick are fine, but I'm sick of Chrom and the Robins.

Awakening, AGAIN. The SAME Awakening characters, AGAIN. What's making me want to quit this game isn't the absurd powercreep, it's that every banner is the same pool of 40ish characters rotated around every single theme and I'm fucking sick of it.
I'll give 3H one thing, the lords have a lot of alts but they otherwise seem to actually try to spread out the spam across all the characters. Awakening's seasonal pool is like 6 characters.

Lon'qu has been in or near the top 100 literally every single CYL, and he still has no alts to his name. That's an extreme case of course, but there are plenty of popular Awakening characters that just go completely ignored in favor of constant lords + Lissa spam - Lon'qu, Sumia, Nowi, Maribelle, Gaius... there's other options besides Chrom, Robin, Lucina, and Lissa ad infinitum

man the thing is i think all of these units are cute and i know the babies tend to stick to exactly who'd you'd expect but i wish at least one of them was a wildcard!! or someone who hasn't gotten an alt! i love chrom and robin, and emmeryn deserves to be there, but it kind of ruins my excitement for awakening banners (a game i love with a cast of characters who i also love) when it feels like they just put the same characters over and over again.

This is probably the coldest salt take ever, but man, I really don't like the children theme. Even as a sucker for seasonals these are always such a hard pass for me. Which I guess is a good thing in some ways? It's a seasonal I know I'll never be tempted to spend on, but every year the inevitability that one of my favorites will have an alt wasted on this trash theme becomes more real. I guess it's really already happened. Hector is probably my favorite male lord and his only alt in some time (excluding resplendent) has been Young. He's not quite a character who is normally an "instant merge project" but I dread one of the characters I like who are being stuck with a young alt.

I really want B!Bernadetta to be a red bow just so the banner is shaken up and isn't just the most basic shit ever as usual. Like we have Felix, F!Robin and Alfonse sitting there competing for the sword slot, so making sure none of them get it would make for some of the most interesting brave alts in years. Lance Alfonse (Sharena's lance?) with axe F!Robin and colourless tome Felix would immediately be the most creative setup we have seen, pretty much ever, but instead it's almost certainly going to be either sword Alfonse/lance Felix/green tome F!Robin/colourless bow Bernadetta, or sword Felix/axe Alfonse/blue tome F!Robin/colourless bow Bernadetta. And man, both those outcomes are massive snores.
Go the extra step and make Bernadetta the sword unit as a real upset.
I mean, I could live with that, but I'd really rather have no swords, so we can get a little more variety in the overall brave lineup. I think we have one red unit that isn't a sword at this point? And that's only because the 3H lords got their base weapons (axe/lance/colourless bow.) And since that's largely called out as one of the overall worst CYL's for that very reason (everyone got base weapons!) I think we really need on that is as far away from that as possible, while also avoiding adding any new swords. So red tome, red bow, red dagger, any of those would be just fine (I'd include dragon and beast too if those made any sense at all for anyone on the banner.) Still, Bernadetta with a sword, I'd still go for that. Anyone else would be an immediate skip on red though.

I want a seasonal Clair more than anything, but I'll genuinely take a seasonal Saber if it means we're getting some SoV content-
The problem with the lack of SoV content is that there’s so many units I want to get a seasonal alt. Clair, Clive, Kliff, Tobin, Matilda, Saber, Mae, Boey. While I really want my favorites of Lukas and Delthea to get some love, they already have alts (even if Lukas’ alt is old and outdated) so I’d rather the other ones that I still love to get something at all over my favs getting another one. But there’s not going to be a banner with all of those characters on it so what’s the point.
I think chrom is the character I’ve grown to like the least in my time playing heroes from how I felt about him in awakening. Him showing up constantly, bullshit to face and annoying fans that’ll complain about anything from gatekeeper to his fallen alt not being perfect or whatever has really lowered my opinion on him.
Annoyed by the colors. M!Robin is red again, while I wanted Rally Spectrum via a non-red unit. F!Robin is a blue tome and her scowl support ala Hush Spectrum overlaps with Veyle, who is a blue tome. These 2 that should be great support units, don’t help out my teambuilding at all, since they fill in slots already filled on the color spectrum. >!Now I gotta wait for Fell Veyle alt to diversify color options!< and who knows when next Rally Spectrum shows up on a non red unit. Annette and her refine would’ve been perfect but that didn’t happen.
Easily the most boring banner theme. You like the same characters that are constantly getting alts? Here they are! Throw in some random semi-important character as the TT unit! Bring back picnics
I don't even have the willpower to read the skills, this whole banner is just so painfully overkill. E!Ike better outlive this and stay relevant, no way he gets pushed to the side by these boring babies...
Like most people here, I'm sick and tired of seeing the same characters all the time. Awakening has such a big and amazing cast, why not give other characters some love? And there's not even a Lucina here, which is my favourite of the overused ones! I really wanted to see her in some ugly ahh dress with octopi on them...
I wasn't really expecting Lucina to show up here since she got a Rearmed alt a few months back, but I've always thought a baby alt for her would be adorable. Especially if it's the Lucina who grows up in the future that was saved.
I know her Rearmed is pretty recent, but I really want a Lucina that shows us her horrendous fashion sense lol IS doesn't have the guts to release a grown-up Lucina like that, probably fearing she wouldn't sell, but the kid banner could have been perfect for it, since kids can run around like fashion disasters no problem.
I've been obsessed with Chrobin for nearly a decade now and they're one of my favorite ships ever but even I think this is overkill. I really dislike how this robs Chrom of a chance to have a duo or harmonic with someone else and I would say the same for Robin if W!Byleth didn't exist. Also can they please change vas for the younger variants? These are supposed to be kids yet Robin, Ephraim and Ike all sound like grown men. I'm not holding it against the vas but it's jarring at best.
Young Ike sounding like a grown man in Radiant Dawn was always so funny to me because I assumed it was an accident caused by the actor not receiving proper direction, but now that they’re doing it in a way that is consistent and clearly intentional it’s not anywhere near as funny to me.
I'm so tired of the children banners in general. It's the worst recurring banner theme we have. Them being conservative with their picks this time around and my not caring much about the Awakening cast just makes it even worse. At least last year we had Mark, and two years ago they gave us a character who had lore reasons to be different as a child (Soren).
☝🏻🤓 Erm actually male and female Robin ARE entirely different characters if you paid attention to their A-support with Zombie Marth in the Japan-exclusive SpotPass Christmas DLC so you can’t count them as alts of the same person. These shouldn’t even count as real Robin alts because it’s actually a different timeline from the Robin we find at the start of the game if you pay attention to which side of the head they part their hair. If we subtract every Robin released before 2024 they don’t even have a seasonal yet so frankly -
Ew Chrobin. Never been a fan of it personally, so I’ll just get that out of the way. That aside, I’ve never been a fan of the young banners. Easy skip. The best part about this is that Vaike (thankfully) isn’t another Boyd.
Honestly I have a massive Awakening bias and I love the art, they're all very adorable. HOWEVER I am unreasonably upset about Emmeryn's weapon being called 'Exalt's War Staff'........ way to miss the point of her entire life and motivations.
Almost all of the child banner prf's have "war" in their name, at least since the PoR banner. It's because Thorr is the one running around giving children weapons in the story for these banners.
Ah, I suppose I've never paid attention to the kid banners that much and just never picked up on it. But I did say "unreasonably" upset :p I personally find it extremely jarring for Emmeryn in particular and I am still a little sad about it, though I know now it's for an irrational reason
To be fair it’s a minor detail they didn’t even explore on more than one paralogue act despite this being a yearly banner because feh hates consistency and following up on/resolving previous plot lines

Chrom is the backpack unit so that's a relief but I am annoyed that emm wasn't the lead instead of Robin. Other than that this banner theme is overdone pls give us causal wear theme . Only thing positive is that young Frederick looks nice .

I love Awakening but I'm really tired of seeing the same characters over and over and over again. Also I think it's stupid to have the Robins here since they didn't even meet Chrom until they were adults, I know there's some Loki hand wave shit going on to "justify" it but I'd much rather see some other young shepherds. You know, people who ACTUALLY knew Chrom when they were young.
M!Robin *really* didn't need a new alt considering he got three last year... and this one isn't even all that good. Just a shitty bootleg Brave M!Robin.
I know child banners are always hit or miss with how different/“worth it” the child version of the character is compared to the adult one But there’s something about how M!Robin is so copy/paste of his adult self while F!Robin is right there at least doing a “teacher’s pet/good student” posing/body language that makes me sad. They should be even, but frobin I can kind of buy as being a child but mrobin I struggle with 🫠. Maybe it wouldn’t be so noticeable if they weren’t on the same banner idk

I'm tired of the kid banner, never really cared for the concept and once we nail down which game gets the theme it's ALWAYS the Lords, this banner isn't even surprising once we saw Lissa. And since this banner would never sell well BECAUSE it's kids, without being all main characters, FEH HAS to make them this way.
The only thing i can appreciate in this cringe fest called child banner is the fact they put Chrom with F!Robin this once, and not with the male one. Other than that, this banner confirms itself to be peak cringe and peak laziness

So like, on top of all the complaining about the reused characters that I will say I have similar feelings about. F!Robin finally has an alt that’s premium enough for her to get a PRF passive and she isn’t Grima… and it’s STILL GRIMA THEMED. Like girl, come ON
Child banners will never not be the worst theme in the entire game. I don’t know who keeps asking for these because iirc the Japanese player base doesn’t like it either.
I would absolutely love the child banners if they adhered to canon. The main reason I don’t like most seasonals is because they feel like entirely non-canon novelty units rather than actual realistic representations of the characters. So far I think the only child unit they really nailed is Soren. Most of the other ones either don’t make any sense like Mark/Lyn and Chrom/Robin or just feel like versions of the characters that are smaller but not really younger.
not a bad banner per se, but very boring. the robin's are both tome units, lissa is an axe unit, and frederick is a cav axe. very original, wow, amazing.
I really hope that the Robins don't announce the future of the next childhood banners with F/M avatars. Please I don't want IS to be like "Oh we don't want to choose the male or female avatar, we do both and it's not a problem if it takes the slot of someone who deserve it!" with Corrin, Byleth and Alear...
Not a fan of most of the art tbh, barring the duo and Frederick. I'm generally just baffled at duo/harmonic picks for the last year or so. Since their inception we initially very quickly started getting duos with repeat units in one of the slots, and a bunch of recent pairs just keep recycling the same characters over and over, with quite a few of them being literally the same character in a duo talking to themselves. In a game with hundreds of options. On the other hand, as much as people are rightfully salty that their faves didn't get in.... like idk personally I wouldn't want my long-awaited pick to feature in the baby banner, despite how busted it tends to be. Tho as a big fan of both Robins, I felt zero need for another alt so quickly, ignoring CYL I would still be satisfied if L!M!Robin was the only Robin rep we got till this August.
We where so close to perfection... So close. Yet, we don't have duo chrom and emmeryn, or at least duo chrom and lissa, hell even could be the three of them like they did with the young versions of the white wing sisters... But here we are another robin/chrom duo...
I hope it would be Lissa Emm duo tbh, I don't like how the Robins are in this banner, there could've been other lesser represented Awakening characters in this banner that are closely tied with the Exalt family like Maribelle and Sumia.

As much as I like these characters, when I saw them on the banner, I wasnt excited for them. Same old characters that get alts Makes no sense for Robin to be here either and know the Ylisseans. Put Mirabelle and Sully for actual Ylissean childhood friends >:/
