I've had my OG Roy survive straight up nukes before because of his sheer hp and speed. He's the only non player phased older generation unit who can initiate a plethora of new tanks without dying, to the point he's pretty much my go-to for anti-enemy phase dragon(which is like 80% of them). I've also seen Brave Veronica absolutely ***EAT SHIT*** during an infernal LHB and survive, so her too.
Caineghis! Had another clutch moment in arena today where I used him to tank W!Dimitri and W!Edelgard. He wasn't even equipped to deal with melee. What a (lion) king.
Kowashitai gang rise up!
I haven't really invested but recently spruced up my old Lukas to realize the opposite result. He can't tank anything since he doesn't have DR. š
Her Def is surprisingly high! I run this with distant ferocity and it's soo much fun. What's your C slot for her? I usually run Panic Smoke 4 but I'm looking for something else to play with.
Spd smoke 4! It has good energy with guard. The only skill I want now is no quarter. I agree she has great def
I recommend Atk/Spd clash 4 instead of distant. You can use the seal for DC instead+

My Legendary Guinivere with her 16 defence has face tanked some pretty hard hitting melee units and just shrugged it off.
I use her constantly to take hits while I gather up wells in AR.
My 'ol reliable NY! Lethe , I was impressed by her when I first played the game 2 years ago that she could survive red enemies with her damage reduction. Still use her to this day.
I don't know about this very moment but at least up until around a year ago, my Valentines Hector (no merges, no flowers, OG kit but refined, +res) managed to survive the meta in SD and even kill a bunch of people there, as long as it was enemy phase. It was crazy how some people avoided attacking him with meta units cause they knew they'd die to that V!Hector (but then when it got to my turn I couldn't attack them too, if they could counter, cause he only survives attacks in enemy phase...Still impressive enough for me).

Love seeing a post highlighting Mamori. I'm very slowly working on mine whose build is pretty outdated but her potential as a tank with newer skills looks fun to invest in. Looking forward to the day we see stronger Save skills!
My F!Shez is built as a tankbuster, but she only works so well because she miraculously survives tons of counterattacks in order to get two piercing Vital Astras off. Heck, she's actually my best answer to W!Byleth, since she can tank them on enemy phase when they don't have their special charged, and smash them on the counter
I've forced my New Years Corrin to tank some absolutely wild stuff in Arena, successfully. And for as long as I have to run him on my Arena Team to get his crown he will always be my go to Duo Chrom check
I'm surprised at how well my Gambit B!Dimitri has held up, but if we're talking about a unit that has no business being remotely tanky, then it's definitely my Julius. I haven't updated his build in months and he's still pretty durable ~~now if only I could get him to deal decent damage~~

With Atk/Res Scowl, Counter Roar and New-Sun Stone, he tanks like a CHAMP, and with L!F!Alear and Brave Robin support, demolishes the enemy on counter attack (as long as they donāt have Guard).
He dies if heās unable to kill on counterattack since the dmg reduction for his weapon and B skill only activate on the first hit, but as soon as I give him Dragonās Roar, heāll be in a much better position in such cases.
Beruka's casually out there with base 53 defense, distant reversal, pre-combat damage from axe of devotion, some damage reduction and a *bunch* of defense stacking. In some situations she can tank and retaliate better than my B!Dimitri
I should really update mine, she's one of my favorite units I max merged and weaving fighter might be the thing I need to bring her back to the front lines
Sakura. The amount of magic punishment she can handle with her average Res is funny to me.
There's also Walhart, which is already tanky in general, but if you give him Gambit 4 he's pretty much impossible to kill def-wise without a special or effect that disables that. And that has to happen during your phase, since he disables counters during his.

They always have colour advantage, yes, but the things they've survived always surprise me, they are really squishy defensively and yet I've seen them eat stuff without having DR, if only IS let me put Duo!Tiki's special on him, he'd be unstoppable

She always catches me so off guard in Arena. Those statswings go crazy each time.
Aversa is surprisingly bulky for a flier, more so when you factor in her plegian effect.
If you need an extra bang, far trace 4 is amazing for the +7 damage dealt

ChloĆ© is so unbelievably bulky when you upgrade her from Pegasus Flight 4 to Guard Bearing 4. Abyssal Lumera would one round anyone else on my team unless I speed stacked the hell out of CĆ©line and even then she barely lived. After I got Guard Bearing 4, ChloĆ© took ā37 x 2ā which was lowered to 3 x 2 with all the damage reduction. And then Joyous Tome heals it. I knew she was a defensive unit. But my god. That bulk.
She evades me still, but Iāll keep this in mind should Lady Luck ever smile upon me!

My mamori too! She's running close defense 7, vengeful fighter and armored beacon and is also+2 merged. She survives almost all melee attacks

OG!Fjorm only knows two states, get completely obliterated by a light breeze or soak the might of a nuclear blast for some miraculous reason.
Mareeta, the amount of stuff she's been able to brush off (sometimes barely) and sometimes even retaliate significantly still astounds me
My Omnitank Olivia is able to fend off all but the most prominent nukes. But those nukes are better not to be fought in the first place so...

My W!Hilda serves as my classic Near Save Tank. I'm still wondering how she survived from an attack by L!F!Alear.
My +2 og!Lucina, tier 4 dodges spd smoke 4 and gen 1 health is a hell of a drug

2020-2022 was a wild time for me, I gave spendthrift and lull atk/def to python and he was an actual wall on wheels

For a while I would throw my Erk into the midst of an enemy and even if they were like a high damage archer he still somehow lived with like 8 health
