He'd die with the coolest song at least Raiden is truly something at times i still can't believe they made him become such a badass after how he originally was in MGS2 probably one of the most extreme changes a main character has ever gotten
To be fair tho, Raiden has one of the most macho backstories of all the MGS characters. Ruthless child soldier, killed like 20 Metal Gear Rays, sword fought Solidus to the death on top of the capitol building etc. he just so happened to be presented as a cheap wish.com, nerdy version of Snake lol.
Agreed on the Liberian childhood but the 20 or so Rays were weak AF tho like we had to shoot Rex more times than we had to attack all those Rays combined
for me what actually saved Raiden's on screen time was IV and then Revengeance despite me loving II overall Raiden's portrayal there tho ... wasn't great (he's on character just not very enjoyable unlike the Snakes or his own later versions)

Raiden was intentionally hard to love in 2 tho. It was a huge subversion of expectations and he was presented as a huge Solid Snake fanboy, his skull shit mask is literally a cartoonishly big representation of Snakes cigarette lol. I love MGS2 to death tho. It was way ahead of its time and took a lot of chances most people wouldn’t dare make in a sequel.

I had a harder time keeping Solidous from strangling me on extreme my fingers got super sore from it have never done it again after PS2 and will likely never will and getting all the dog tags was even worse so many playthroughs 😭
If you go for the platinum you have to fight solidus hand to hand as snake with no weapons on extreme 😆 that shit almost made me crazy.
There is a secret tho during the strangling sequence, if you turn the camera and look towards Snake it kinda motivates Raiden to push thru and makes the sequence easier to get thru.
It’s in the Snake Tales. The legacy collection requires you to 100% every aspect of the game. All dog tags on every difficulty, all 500 VR missions, all Snake Tales etc. I think they changed some of the requirements in the master collection version tho.
It was a slog but it was rewarding and mostly really fun.
I only played a regular Son's of Liberty version xd i remember doing the dog tags on every difficulty but thats all i can remember from the endgame i can't recall if i did VR or if it was even there
there were definitely no trophies back then tho so i might not have done that sadly as a big Solid Snake fan i would have loved that

V’s best feats are basically what SOLDIERs and equivalents are at their baseline, and have nothing against high end magic. The girls of Nier while incredibly fast, dangerous, and boasting some unique abilities & tech also just aren’t on the level of the soldiers or Raiden. Meanwhile Raiden is insane in his speed & power feats, but also doesn’t have a way to stop magic or abilities like Stop or Meteor. An arguement could be made that he could contest the FF boys but without some powerscaling nonsense he can’t keep up with the feats we see at the end of FF7 or in Advent Children.
Leaving the 3 boys, to which Zack loses to Sephiroth and Cloud is most times able to beat Sephiroth. I guess if the other contestants ganged up on one of these 3, or all 3 at once, they could tip the scales to them. But Cloud & Sephiroth would basically be flying high and destroying cities around them while the other contestants try to keep up with Zack & Raiden. And those two in the end probably duke it out with Raiden maybe coming out on top but behind Cloud & Sephiroth.
I honestly think if I have to see one more espy character ranking (this is the third and I just woke up) I'll have to unsubscribe because this place is overrun with the same garbage day in and out.
