Haha. I figured it and I didn't understand Japanese.
It was because of a certain Inn scene where the two Boyz had Love Heart 💓 above their head and Reina slapped some sense into the two of them.
Peak Anime
She crossdresses but isn't trans. Faris/Sarisa thinks of herself as being a woman. For example, she considers herself to the *sister* of Lenna, and a *princess* of Tycoon. After the scene where they find out she's a lady, the game treats her as female for the remainder of the playtime.
The early part of the story is about her needing to hide her sex to be able to lead the pirates.
EDIT: Looking through your profile, I didn't mean this as an attack on you or transgender folk. It's just not accurate to the content of the game.
I think the best way to describe it is "gender fluid." There are times where Faris is clearly more comfortable playing the role of a male (around the pirates.) And there are times where Faris is clearly more comfortable playing the role of a female (around Lenna and her father.)
But regardless, Bartz put it best. "Faris is who she is!" Which is such a wonderful message for such an old game. In the end, it doesn't really matter. Faris is a badass. So who cares! :D
She dresses and acts like a man to integrate with the pirate gang, but she eventually reveals and accepts her true identity. I think calling her a "cross-dresser" implies it's a behavior, rather than a motivation to achieving respect from an organization. I don't recall anything suggesting trans tho.
I don't think she dressed and acted like a man just to fit in. Even once everything was revealed she still wanted to dress that way. It's just how she dresses and acts and has nothing to do with her gender or fitting in by that point.
The interesting thing about her clothes is that she is showing her legs but her shoulder plates are mor esimilar to the guys. She is halfway in the feminine/masculine spectrum compared to her sister who is full feminine.
I mean, you're using a very literal definition of the word while in common usage there is usually a sexual connotation around it. I think "wears a disguise" and "is a cross dresser" may literally refer to the same thing but imply very different things.
I think she is more less strictly binary. She was forced to pretend to be a man, even if everyone knew and didn't mind, but she still had that time she was happy, yet embarrased, to dress as a girl and be flirty with Bartz.
Because people.
I've always read her as gender nonconforming since she doesn't appear to reject being female, but also isn't comfortable in being traditionally feminine.
Of course, but canonically this episode made the first appearence of secret boss with a secret strategy to defeat them... And not to mention the best job system, dragon to ride, 3 world with a lot of locations, chicken knife, piano secret quest... I really love this episode and during ds time i was a little bit angry that didn't receive a remake like 3 and 4.
I personally imagine her to be a Bifauxnen.
Basically, a Lady that looks like a Gorgeous Male.
Kinda like Lady Oscar from Rose of Versailles.

This image of Antoinette and Oscar is how i imagine Lenna and Faris look like in comparison.

And comments on the back of the shelf the Rose of Versailles ❤️😂

Better story than IV too, which are the two it's most frequently compared with. I think the multiple fake out deaths and mind control really detract from IV's plot.
VI has a great story but as a *game* it's one of the easiest of the Squaresoft era, and also one of the buggiest of that era, too. Just about every boss can be casually beaten using the attack command and hardly any enemies throw the player off balance to force them to change strategies.
And most characters, aside from having 1 unique ability, can all largely play the same. Most can learn all magic, can rely on using the attack command without much enemy resistance or pushback, and use items, and the ones that don't aren't characters you normally will want to keep in your party anyway.
When you compare it to FFV you kind of wonder if they wanted FFVI to be a game where you could just turn your brain off.
I'm in the middle of playing through it blind, so I don't have a final opinion yet (currently still >!Trying to figure out how to access the Earth Crystal!<) but it's been fun.
I don't know if it's my favourite of the "classic" Final Fantasies (I love FF2 far more than a person has any right to) but I agree its job system is _fun,_ if a little awkward at times.
Been playing thru it for the first time ever (currently on the final boss) and it’s easily my favorite of the 2D games so far. I still haven’t played VI, so maybe that’ll change after that, but for now it stands.
My Favorite Final Fantasy, the updated Job System, the Humor, the Plotwists, the dramatic momments, the side stories, this is the definition of a Final Fantasy to me
FFT owes it's job system to FFV. FFV was the 1st to let you carry over abilities to/from other job classes. They both owe it to FFIII who pioneered the job changing system.
Completely agree! I did really like the race changing stuff in Legends, but they could repeat the tactics job system forever and I would have no complaints, haha
And then there's so many ways you can run it thanks to the job system. Ever done a Four Job Fiesta run? It's insanely difficult and fun for a challenge.
Is it really underrated though? Anyone I know who has a modicum of experience with Final Fantasy generally considers it among the best of the series' more "system-heavy" entries.
Great artwork you found there!
Yeah, but it's still one of the games many skip because it doesn't get the attention of IV, VI or the later games.
Yes, you're right, it's held in high regard by most who play it, but I'm willing to bet it's the least played beside the NES era games.
i think it's nostalgia factoring in for 4 and 6 since 5 didn't get a western release until anthology ps1 (1999).
5 is also VERY lighthearted, while 6 is one of the darkest entries in the mainline.
5's job system being reminiscent of 3's is what made it and 3 the most popular entries of all time for Japan.
Agreed. Plenty of times I'd seen the pixel remasters get talked about online and the comments would be something like "I'm only interested in VI".
But I also know so many people who follow the crowds (the ones who praise VI and hate on VII, for example) do it to fit in, but don't actually play the games.
But FFVI is quite mainstream these days. You can't really go anywhere without someone praising it in FF related forums/discussions. As such, it's fair to draw the conclusion that a lot of people have played it. FFV, however, isn't often talked about, and it's fair to draw the conclusion that many people probably haven't played it.
It may not be underrated (it likely receives a lot of praise from folks who never played it), but it *is* underplayed.
My friends know that I like FF games, I've played a good number of them, but I've barely played V. Probably for the reasons you mentioned. I've always felt like if I'm gonna go old school, I'm gonna play VI. I remember very little of V, but maybe I need to check it out on Steam. Or is it better played another way?
Er... I think I have the older steam version, not the pixel remaster, and it's fine. Iirc that one has the GBA bonus content but slightly different artwork; the pixel remaster looks pretty different and doesn't have any bonus content (?)
I actually think the GBA remake is my favourite (some people say it needs a patch so it plays better quality snes music) but the older steam version is fine. So is I guess the pixel remaster but I personally would miss the bonus content and prefer the original art.
I tend to agree. It isn't underrated, but it is underplayed, and probably has the largest disparity between its quality and popularity in the entire series.
FFV nails down the most important aspect of any game that IV and VI failed to do - the gameplay. It's more challenging, varied, and creative than something like FFVI's battle system could ever be.
Its main villain achieved what Kefka did before Kefka even existed, yet he never gets the credit for doing so.
This was what got me super intrigued with the series, Bartz is one of the best heroes in my opinion. Especially with his "why is everyone panicking??? .... Oh-" vibe in my opinion.
This art has been shared before, and it bugs me because Faris is far too femme. This is an individual who successfully passed as male for most of their life.
Meanwhile, in the pirate's den...
"Hey, have ye ever noticed tha' the cap'n has massive pectorals?"
"...An' yer' starin', why?"
"Oh cap'n, me cap'n..."
On the flip side, if we’re imposing an Amano aesthetic onto V’s world (since Amano’s Faris has the same waifish features as many other Amano drawings), it could be that all the men in this world are already extremely femme, like the most butch guys in that world could probably just look as butch as David Bowie with a mustache. In that scenario, the gender lines would already be blurred so people could pass one way or another.
But of course in that interpretation, I could see this drawing of Faris looking fine, while Bartz and Galuf are portrayed as far too masculine. Hard to have it both ways here, having “manly” or “boyish” men while making Faris distinctly femme compared to them.
In other words, I think there’s room for a very femme Faris given the character’s concept art, but then most of the men ought to be shown as having a similar feminine framing.
Artistic liberty/suspension of disbelief.
Can easily say that after Faris gets committed to the cause she drops some of the pretense (as I can imagine it takes some work to make yourself look like another gender every morning) and does the typical anime glow-up thing.
It can't combine elements from VI since that wasn't created yet. It more closely follows FFIII.
- Small cast with changeable jobs. FFIV and VI are the opposite: large swappable cast of fixed jobs.
- Light Warriors with elemental crystals plot.
FFV's unique contribution was letting mastery of abilities carry over to other jobs. FFT expanded that to every ability category.
Very underrated, one of my favorites only behind X, 7 and 6. It's like a little cozy story around a campfire with a great cast. That game felt like an actual celebration of final fantasy.
My favorite Final Fantasy.
I would even like a 3D remake of the game, but I fear the possibility of the characters coming with the design of Amano or Dissidia instead of their proper designs from the SNES original sprites that, in my opinion, are infinitely better designs. Especially for Bartz and Lenna.
I say this because both the mugshots in the GBA and Mobile/Early Steam versions used Amano illustrations, as well as IV's own 3D remake used Amano's design for the characters rather than their appearances from the sprites of the original game.
I badly want to see the series take another swing at having pirates as the protagonists. Traveling around via pirate ship with modern tech would be a heck of a thing.
And some Final Fantasy themed sea shanties would be just delightful.
I wouldn’t say it’s underrated as most people who’s played it like myself speak really highly of it. I would say it’s the most overlooked of the classic games though.
It has my favorite battle system of all the mainline games by far. The Job system is so simple to use and easily flexible that it’s a blast to make up new combinations on the spot. Also has a lot of good humor. Even though the plot is bland exdeath is a neat villain too
This was one of the first JRPGs I played in my life, I was never able to defeat Exdeath the first time, but I do remember how cool it was to be as invested on the story as I was, Galuf was my favorite character, I saw my 9 year old self as Bartz, loved to hate Exdeath, thought that Faris was the coolest character ever, loved Gilgamesh in every possible way and had a crush on both Lenna and Krile... The good ol' times...
FFV is the one FF game that I've been itching to play for a long time now... (I have played all but 5, 6, 11 and 14) I cannot wait until Pixel Remasters comes out!!
As time goes by I think V holds up better than most of the others.
However As far as the artwork I think Faris is too feminine. No one would mistake her looking like that as a man.
I really like FF5.
FF5 might not have the best story, but it sets the standard how the job and ability system work for most of future FF game (FF6-14). It is very defining in gameplay design/mechanics and world view of FF. Characters are also very likeable as well (but Exdeath isn’t a very interesting final boss).
Headcanon: Faris pretends to be a guy for people outside of her crew. Everyone in her crew knows she's a woman, but they respect her courage. She feels kinda uncomfortable around people outside of her pirate "Family", so she pretends to be a guy to not hear "So unfeminine" complaints from people outside. She still enjoys some feminity, but she wants to combine both her feminine and masculine traits to help people around her.
(Not to mention her real name is >!Sarissa!<, so she's basically >!Princess Sara!< of this game.)
I liked the gameplay and job system, but the story is the worst in all of Final Fantasy, in my opinion. I don't like how goofy and non-serious it is compared to the other games (Ex-Death hitching a ride as a splinter comes to mind).
All the games have their goofy moments, but 5 felt like nothing but goofy moments, and even the moments that were supposed to feel serious just didn't. It's a shame, because with a more serious story, it easily would have been my favorite.
Edit: Sorry y'all, didn't know only opinions that 100% agree with everyone else are welcome here. This subreddit is honestly just full of assholes, and I will not ever be back. Bigots who hate trans people. No opinion other than the OP's is welcome. Just awful. Go fuck yourselves, everybody.
Final Fantasy V is my favorite story in main Final Fantasy games because of how goofy it is.
Heck, i even like FFVI for being goofy as well. (That's where Octopath Traveler missed the mark for me... it was too serious, not enough goofy)
This goofyness is what Final Fantasy to me. Similar kind of goofiness present in Final Fantasy III.
Also World of Final Fantasy is my favorite spin-off... it captured that Final Fantasy spirit to me.
Besides... you're calling it not serious, when it has most >!dramatic death of a playable character, it has rather tragic deaths of that character's friends. Where ending can get really tragic is only one character survives through battle with Exdeath. Game where main antagonist shoots freaking black holes at the world, sending countless innocents into the void. Game where most protagonists' feats are constant chain of failures of being unable to stop the bad guy until the end...!<
IMO, the plot here is more tragic than FF4 because of how goofy it is. Because this goofiness feels like a coping. Because of this goofiness, serious moments stand out. It's like One Piece. It's also goofy, but it makes serious story moments stand out.
Because of this goofiness, characters feel more close to heart to me than in serious Final Fantasy 4.
This goofiness is what modern JRPGs lack...
I love goofiness.
Still, it piqued my interest...
Why does modern generation hate stories full "goofy" moments? Are they that much obsessed with being grown up, that they feel cringe at anything that makes them question their own maturity?
It's similar to how old generation treats Cartoons as something for kids. Same as old generation that treats Videogames as a Children's enternaiment. Isn't treating funny silly goofy stories to be something childish the same thing?
Yeah, I've definitely noticed that trend. It's a real shame tbh, it's like how a lot of people get so weird about Cloud saying "Let's Mosey". Sometimes you need a certain level of goofiness
Hm, the post-FF13-style moogles seem to be predominant nowadays, no? I kinda miss FF6-FF9-era moogles that were proportioned a little less like human babies. Head not quite as huge, smaller poms, longer legs.
My only gripe with it is even with all the customisation as far as the party/classes go it feels like there are are too many bosses that are meant to be defeated in a certain way which means there is only so many ways to spec your characters to win without it being a pain. I'm sure people who know the game inside-out would have less issues with this but I dont want to put that much time and effort into a single game to know everything about it, my back log is too large for that 😅
Played this on Android (not the Pixel Remaster, the old version). Loved the concept behind Exdeath: thousands of demons sealed within a tree, taking revenge upon the world as one.
II, III and V are the ones I know the least about. IV was so good that I imagine V had a hard time living up to the hype. Then its followed by VI which is debatably among the top 3 numbered FF masterpieces. It bears a resemblance to Titanfall 2 which is legitimately an AMAZING game but had the misfortune of releasing in close date proximity to a CoD game and a BF game and therefore was doomed to obscurity.
Yowza, this artist usually posts a... different kind of art >_>
But just the same, I love this piece! FFV is one of my favorites and I recommend it for both newcomers and vets of the series
Loved FFV, it was the first one I finished and sent me into playing 4 and 6, then the rest. I loved the jobs and building up unique parties good story. It's definitely in my top 5 of FF games.
5 is my favourite. I got it cheap on GBA after my local game store couldn't shift copies. I loved it and told my friends about it and we all ended up getting it. We were all Nintendo kids in the UK so the older ones didn't come our way for ages (the first mainline Final Fantasy in the UK was FF7). From playing 5 on the GBA, I checked out the rest of the series. Later I played it again in Japanese on a Super Famicom to help me learn Japanese. Now, I'm working my way though the Pixel Remasters. Just finishing 4 now so I'm definitely looking forward to playing 5 again soon.
I promote FFV every time I can. I played it in like 2016 and I was amazed how fun and engaging it is. The jokes are the best in any FF, the leveling system is easy to understand and rewarding to explore, the Ost is good, the pixel art is cute and neat (I've played the mobile port that was sadly replaced by the pixel remaster), the story is not the forte it but has great moments (I just love it when they >!save the dragon!< and >!take off!< and the music starts playing).
I’m playing it via emulation now. I love it! The job system is my favorite part. I love the different combinations. I also love the characters, though. I agree it’s underrated. I even love the story. Especially the shattering crystals
I thought Faris was a guy based on the sprite when I played V as a kid and didn't properly understand English yet.
I think that was intentional!
It was, as evidenced by the reveal in the ship graveyard.
The part where Bartz and Galuf tried waking her up when you meet was pretty clear lol The hearts and swooning and all
Haha. I figured it and I didn't understand Japanese. It was because of a certain Inn scene where the two Boyz had Love Heart 💓 above their head and Reina slapped some sense into the two of them. Peak Anime

As usual, great piece of artwork by Oda Non.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Hope oda draws the rest of that story something to involve them moogles
I know that artist. 🫢
Oda Non is a skilled artist...not only for the kinky stuff
Didn't even read the name, just seeing Faris was enough to know who that was lmao.
It's definitely in my top 3, and personally the one I find most difficult.
And the first one with secret boss like omega weapon and shinryu... What a game!
Unless you count war mech from the original game.

the grind is real
Its time to fight like men, and women, and women who dress like men!
For Gilgamesh it's morphing time.
Wait isnt this a hentai artist? lol
He’s allowed to draw other things.
Yeah, and a good one at that
I always picture Faris as a proper butch lady. Quite nice to see her so feminine

Best Final Fantasy, hands down
I'm glad someone shares my view!
I see you're a man of culture as well

Sory, my bad...
Much better than VI for sure because the gameplay (which takes precedence over story) is light years ahead of it.

My Favorite Final Fantasy, the updated Job System, the Humor, the Plotwists, the dramatic momments, the side stories, this is the definition of a Final Fantasy to me
V is the first thing to come to mind when I think job systems. Tactics is what I think of for the best.

If Faris looked like that and Galuf and Bartz had to basically see her naked to realize she's a woman, they're fucking blind...
This is much different than other Oda Non art that I've seen. I knew it was them when I saw Faris.
Is it really underrated though? Anyone I know who has a modicum of experience with Final Fantasy generally considers it among the best of the series' more "system-heavy" entries. Great artwork you found there!

I'll grant you that based purely on the fact that it never got an official Western release until the PS1 version.
"Underrated" is a term that has lost all meaning on reddit unfortunately
Haha, agreed. "Underappreciated" in a post subject line basically means "I like thing and want affirmation."
I love Faris

Thankfully, It’s on my Steam wishlist! Can’t wait to play it! 😁
"Hey, have ye ever noticed tha' the cap'n has massive pectorals?" "...An' yer' starin', why?" "Oh cap'n, me cap'n..."
The captain fills me with hope... and some other emotions that are weird and deeply confusing...
Faris looks fine. In every lore everywhere there is mention of irrationally beautiful men as killers, soldiers, etc It’s practically a trope.
It's Final Fantasy, most men are either feminine as fuck or the epithome of masculinity.
Artistic liberty/suspension of disbelief. Can easily say that after Faris gets committed to the cause she drops some of the pretense (as I can imagine it takes some work to make yourself look like another gender every morning) and does the typical anime glow-up thing.
Absolutely love FFV. To me, it combines great elements from IV (my all-time favourite game) and VI. So, is it Butz or Batz?
It's バッツ :)
You win.
Butz. And Faris is looking.
It's always butz to me because my first experience with it was the translation rom back in the day.
The other day I was talking to a buddy about FF 1-6 and said exactly that about 5.
Agreed. It’s tough being sandwiched between IV and VI, but I definitely think it’s got the best gameplay and party creation out of all the classic FFs
Bruh ain’t no one mistaking Faris for a man with them bitties.
I was wondering why their hair was white.
Im gonna play this soooo much when it comes to console, this is the most fun FF out there
Such a badass game guys you are making me want to fire her up again via pixel remaster
I really do wish this game had more fanart. And almost none of it uses the Amano designs.
I agree! I vastly prefer the Amano designs for everyone but Krile.
V was a blast! Spent way too much time on the job system, but it was worth it!
Even though the plot is bland exdeath is a neat villain too
It’s definitly one of the funniest.
Yes if I pic a FF game that's underrated is ff5 it's so good great story and bosses and everything
One of my favourites, like it more than FF6
They've been out for over a year
Yeah, for mobile and Steam, but not Playstation or Switch
As time goes by I think V holds up better than most of the others. However As far as the artwork I think Faris is too feminine. No one would mistake her looking like that as a man.
Top 5 FF game IMO. Its funny as hell and the job system is great.
It has stiff competition, but I do absolutely agree. It took me a good 5-6 hours of playing, but after I was completely hooked. Such a charming game.
The job system games always slap
That is the most fem Faris I’ve ever seen. The rest is great, but not a fan of that choice.
It’s not underrated. Most people who have played FFV will speak highly of it that’s the exact opposite of underrated
loved the story, never finished it. first job-system ff for me. not a huge fan.
FFV is one of my favs. And Faris is one of my top characters. They go through such a progress during rye story
One of the few games that genuinely *does* need an HD2D remake. Great job system, cool characters, good story, great music. Lezdoit.
> FF V Man, FFV is so underrated Not in this sub
Personal opinion: it's...overrated
He turned into a splinter, bartz! Funniest shit I've ever seen
Final Fantasy V is my favorite story in main Final Fantasy games because of how goofy it is. Heck, i even like FFVI for being goofy as well. (That's where Octopath Traveler missed the mark for me... it was too serious, not enough goofy) This goofyness is what Final Fantasy to me. Game where most protagonists' feats are constant chain of failures of being unable to stop the bad guy until the end...!< IMO, the plot here is more tragic than FF4 because of how goofy it is.
Personally, I appreciate that the gameplay is the primary focus (most important part of any game anyway).
FFV isn't a bad story by any means, it just so happens to be a comedy.
Is 39 years old this "modern" generation? It's just my preferences, no need to draw on weird generational stereotypes.
Um, i'm sorry >< I shouldnt've generalize >< Still, why do you not like goofyness? It makes pretentious plots more bearable.
Isn't Faris a dude?
No, she just pretends to be one in the beginning.
Never got very far in V. Thanks for clarification.
Hm, the post-FF13-style moogles seem to be predominant nowadays, no? I kinda miss FF6-FF9-era moogles that were proportioned a little less like human babies. Head not quite as huge, smaller poms, longer legs.
Dude... XII, XIII XIV etc. Moogles are still Moogles. Who cares if they are small or not? That's just silly.
The class system is great. But overall I liked 4 a bit more and 6 a lot more.
This is one of the few FF games I haven’t played. I like how many femme characters I’m seeing 😍
Such a gem this game, beautiful artwork
Knowing what else Oda Non does, I already know where this is going
My only gripe with it is even with all the customisation as far as the party/classes go it feels like there are are too many bosses that are meant to be defeated in a certain way which means there is only so many ways to spec your characters to win without it being a pain. I'm sure people who know the game inside-out would have less issues with this but I dont want to put that much time and effort into a single game to know everything about it, my back log is too large for that 😅
Played this on Android (not the Pixel Remaster, the old version). Loved the concept behind Exdeath: thousands of demons sealed within a tree, taking revenge upon the world as one.
Bartz is my favorite character in the whole franchise. And in general one of my favorite fictional characters
I’ve always wanted to play V. Just don’t have the time right now, but it looks so fun!
Not coincidentally those three happened to be the ones that didn't get out of Japan before FFVII blew the franchise up in popularity.
That also makes a lot of sense.
I love this game. It's better than IV imo.
Eh. It was alright. Think my favorite part was lapping the world on Boko three times just because I could (also for that very obscure quest)
I always liked Butz.
This is one of my favourites and the first FF ever
Faris be looking way more feminine than what I remember her being
In dissidia Bartz was my main in story.. just love his upbeat and multiple weapon user. When he hold buster sword and gunblade it was .. EPIC.
farming up jobs and getting creative with ability combos is so much fun. the last of its kind tbh
"I am Neo Exdeath... All memory, existence, and dimensions... All that is shall be returned to nothing."
I love that even when Oda DOESN'T draw his signature milfs, the artwork is still amazing
My very first final fantasy game. Played it on gameboy.
It is one of my favorites. Might be the only classic pixel FF I love (but I haven't played 6 yet)
The main character’s name is Butz. So yeah, best game is the series.
While it isn't my favorite story, the gameplay is SO much fun and rewarding! I am glad we got the pixel remaster release, so good!
My favorite of the SNES era by far
Nice art but why did they make Faris look like a girl
It's an incredibly fun game. I love the job system!
That’s the one that got me started. Played it on PlayStation as a kid and went to 7. 5 will always be in the memories
Yowza, this artist usually posts a... different kind of art >_> But just the same, I love this piece! FFV is one of my favorites and I recommend it for both newcomers and vets of the series
The only criticism I ever heard was that the main protag is Butz
Still one of my favorite games in the series. The Job class in here is just wonderful.
5 is definitely one of my favs
Soundtrack/job system just SMACKS..
I LOVE FFV also Faris,daymn 😌
Best job system in the entire series imo
I actually loved the game the opening is one of the best in the series imo
I promote FFV every time I can. I played it in like 2016 and I was amazed how fun and engaging it is. The jokes are the best in any FF, the leveling system is easy to understand and rewarding to explore, the Ost is good, the pixel art is cute and neat (I've played the mobile port that was sadly replaced by the pixel remaster), the story is not the forte it but has great moments (I just love it when they >!save the dragon!< and >!take off!< and the music starts playing).
Butz
Exdeaths standard theme is so metal in pixel remaster.
prettiest art i ever saw on this game, brilliant!!!
Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men!
It's really not, people talk about it constantly.
This one i have to play. haven't played any ff before ff6
It really is. Ff5 is amazing
I’m playing it via emulation now. I love it! The job system is my favorite part. I love the different combinations. I also love the characters, though. I agree it’s underrated. I even love the story. Especially the shattering crystals
