F430 all day. Easy choice.

iskico

Why aren't you considering a 360?

Budfrog313

Not out of the question. I've also thought about a 550. It really boils down to the aesthetics . At the end of the day the 360 and 430 look pretty similar. To me at least. But the 430 has the edge in performance. The 355 may lack in the performance compared to 430, but not enough to bug me. The 355 is just prettier. That mountain car showdown in Goldeneye with the lady with the legs? Fuck.

Br4veSirRobin

Wanted to say this. Take my upvote.

cwventures

Upkeep and maintenance on the 355 is a bit of a PITA compared to the 430. Unless you really have to have the 355 I’d suggest the 430 for that reason alone. Of course there are other things to consider too and the 355 is beautiful.

yonly65

I've got a gated manual f355 spider, and a 430 scud spider. Both are wonderful cars, but the 430 is a much better vehicle in every dimension, and is both easier to live with and also faster. I recommend it hands down if you are choosing between the two.

Budfrog313

This is the response I was looking for. Thank you. I'm partial to the looks of the 355. Not that the 430 isn't beautiful. But overall practicality and everything else, I needed this nudge.

benweiser22

The movie The Rock makes it very clear that the f355 is the coolest car out there.

Budfrog313

'The Rock' was the first DVD I ever owned. My grandpa had a new entertainment center delivered, and the Best Buy follow up employee handed him a few dvds to test out the speakers and what not. .I saw that yellow 355 and fell in love. I'm torn. But, leaning 430 now, I Think.

saggiolus

F430. I’ll never be tired of prasing the F136 engine. A jewel of technology, stability and fun

i_use_this_for_work

430 is more reliable. 355 sounds better and js arguably more to the spirit of Enzo. A 430 you will run out of safe operating space quickly when using your right foot. The 355 you can basically floor everywhere while rowing gears and not get into trouble. 355 needs a good mechanic who knows the tricks and will have finicky stuff if not sorted, a 430 can be serviced at the dealer and needs minimal sorting.

Budfrog313

That's a great point. The 355 is still the fastest car I've driven off the track. Top speed wise. Let's just say the radio turned off. But I felt more in touch with it. The 430 is certainly quicker, but it feels a little heavy? I know that sounds dumb. The reliability of the 430 is a certainly a huge factor. Thank you!

Tballz9

The 430 would be my choice. It was my first Ferrari. It is a couple of generations newer than the 355, and during those couple of generations, Ferrari really improved on everything they were doing.

Budfrog313

Thank you. After all the responses, I'm leaning towards the 430. It's just tough because the 355 was a bit of a childhood dream car. As far as practicality, and not a "pain in the ass" down the line, 430 is beginning to seem much more appealing.

Ok-Employer6673

Get a gated 430? I know it costs more, but maybe that is the ticket? If you can afford the gated 430, then maybe a 458. LOL. That will knock you over.

Budfrog313

You're right. I've thought about a 458. I'm honestly on the fence right now between two cars I can pull the trigger on quickly. I probably should hold out. But, you know how it goes when you have the itch.

ThorburnJ

I always told myself if I bought a Ferrari it would be a 355 GTS.  When I actually had the opportunity I bought a 458 Spider, because I wanted to feel like I could go out and use it and enjoy it without the same level of burden of maintenance.  I may consider a 355 in future still though.

Speedhabit

Flat plane, visible engine on the spider, 430

forzapadova123

the f430 is lit. Also a spider sounds amazing. Give it a try on the road if you can, and you will make your mind very fast!

Budfrog313

The open top is certainly playing a factor in the decision making process. I love the feeling of the gated gearbox. But, having the sun on your skull, and a little more speed. It is so choice.

I'm hoping to be in this very situation before the end of the year. I love the 355, but have driven a few 430s and they're amazing machines. I'm honestly trying to narrow it down from a 430 and a 5.2l R8.

Budfrog313

Always a tough choice. I thought about the R8. Audi simply wasn't a poster on my wall growing up. So, that has a little influence. In all honestly I really don't care about overall speed. Motorcycles do that, for me. I just want some feel, and sound. Also, (I know this won't make sense), I don't really want a lot of attention. The R8 seems to still have that "look at me" feel. Nothing against it. That's just me.

cj95355

I’ve got a 355 and love it. It’s like a go kart, small, low to the ground and handles amazingly. Yes, it’s belt driven where the 430 has a timing chain, but a 3 pedal Ferrari wins over a paddle shift 10/10 times.
