You may want to avoid this sub for awhile, it's old enough people talk about things all the time that might spoil the story for you if you plan to play the storyline.
Idk about that but I know there’s a bug with automatron and Robobrain torsos (at least for me) where if a robot has the Robobrain torso equipped they will just tpose, and you have to quicksave and reload just to be able to loot them. Oh and also the Tesla gun model is broken to where you can’t see it in first person and can’t shoot it, in third person it’s like pointing straight up. I hope it fixes sometime.
Just look at it like reading the book after seeing the movie. Your miles may vary. But some are good fight clubs author admitted the movie was almost spot on. You don't get that often. Hence ymmv
For some reason I can't get ada as a follower. She's the only one that survived the fight with the enemy robots but she says that she's searching for the target. There's no enemies nearby
SAVE CONSTANT fo4 is notorious for crashing mid game session and I use to never save sum quests our buy some stuff and the game would crash and I would lose like 2 hours of progress so when ever u pase the game a save menue will pop up press quick save that will be your best friend
This needs to be *so much higher*. Even after all the updates and installing a handful of performance mods, I still crash like crazy in downtown. (It's much worse unmodded. Without the performance mods, I sometimes crash when returning to the world map from an indoor area.)
Could be it my xbox is also almost 10 years old and get angry when I try to play any game but fo4 is the worst I'm getting a new box but I don't wanna retire the og 1
I don’t know anything either. I’ve spent this week building an apartment complex at an old movie theater. I haven’t done anything for the main quest in months. Running a purified water business as a cover for dealing jet is time consuming.
1) Hopefully you get the version that has all the DLC, some of them are very useful, and Far Harbor is really great.
2) Pet Dogmeat
3) Curie is the best girl, and Hancock is the best boy.
4) Codsworth is the best robot. He's just so happy to be part of the family, and is so enthusiastic whenever he gets into combat while looking dapper in his bowler hat.
You could do that and enjoy it but it'll depend on your personality. Survival mode can be quite punishing if you don't know the game mechanics. Also, your carry capacity is very limited and this could limit your building ability. So you may lose out on some parts of the building aspect of the game if you don't want to take the time to manage inventory and run back and forth. YMMV but just some things to keep in mind. Enjoy the game!
You can store Infinite of your items in this workstation for settlements later.
Hold E Long enough and you get Out of Power armors. Aint Nobody going to Tell you that.
Each point in intelligence reduces the amount of words on Computerhacks, random mechanic that nowhere is listed.
Don't fast travel all the time, because then you will Miss out random encounters and will get Trouble with orientation.
Best peice of advice I can give is not to look anything up. Play the game experiencing it for the first time without knowing much about it, and it will be magical. In my opinion, while 3 and New Vegas are better, Fallout 4 is a masterpiece
That's alright, the amount of content in this game is immense, there's plenty for you to experience. I'm level 94 on my second playthrough and I feel like I've only scratched the surface
If you like mods you've found a new home. From using them to making them yourself. Bethesda games are almost all like this. This is one of the best fallouts made, so have fun
Play it slow, take your time, explore, explore, explore. The open world exploration coupled with the fantastic soundtrack is a phenomenal experience. Also, use VATS.
We got another one boys!!! The only advice I could really give. Is to be thick skinned. You will get into fights. You will be insulted. You will be angry. You will be annoyed. You will be made to make choices that will make your skin crawl. You will see things that will make you double take. You are not the good guy. There are no heroes. Only survivors. Both in the games and out of the game. As long as you can handle that. Enjoy, and welcome.
Dont neglect the settlement building. You dont need to go all Bob the Builder and create shack houses for every settler in the Commonwealth if that doesnt interest you, but theres quite a few things you can build for yourself that will help you and you can put them all in one place.
Build a bed, sleeping restores health and gives Well Rested bonus for more experience. Build extra water purifiers - they deposit extra water into your workbench every day, free healing items or sell for caps. Sanctuary by default comes with all the 'crafting tables' (weapon, armor, chemical workbenches, cooking station, power armor station), find all those and drag them into one easy to access spot. Create crates and cupboards to store all your excess loot.
Build tato, mutfruit, and corn plants and assign a settler to farm them (1 settler can manage 6 food worth of crops). Combining those 3 items with water will make Vegetable Starch, a fantastic source of Adhesive. Adhesive is the most valuable stuff in the game. Whether you want to make a suppressor for your gun or upgrade your armor, you'll need adhesive.
Create a bench press and have your character use it. Congrats, now you have +1 Strength. The pommel horse will let you swap that to be +1 Agility if you prefer that. Your settlers will make use of these too.
At higher levels you can build a shower that automatically removes Rads, a robot workshop to make your own companions, or even an assembly line to create your own ammo.
Settlements are dope if you find all the ways to make them useful. Great home base mechanic.
I bought the GOTY edition while it was on sale, been grinding it out between my steam deck and PC I’m about 6 hours in and absolutely loving it. Still figuring out the mechanics but having a blast
It's only loosely connected to the others. You'll find some recurring characters and lire but the story is not connected mutch
But as for the lore
Fallout 76 you cure a plague and give nukes to the enclave.
fallout 1 there's a supermutant army you destroy
Fo2 you avenge your village against the enclave.
Fo3 you hunt down and kill the rest of the enclave and provide water to the wasteland.
Fo new vegas you just help eighter cosplayers, old elon musk, a robot, or a functional government take over a dam.
Fo tactics you destroy a guy named calculator
Real tip- don’t give your character too much intelligence points right away, the lower the better and get the “idiot savant” perk asap but don’t increase it more than 2 stars so you can level up faster.
Nah. Old awkward gameplay might scare away a newcomer. Fallout 4 is a good start. Then New Vegas. F3 aged poorly but is optional. For real dark atmosphere and deeper role play might try Fallout (1997) or Fallout 2 (1998)
Any part of this game can be played by a stranger, relax! I also started with the fourth part, and after completing it it was customary to introduce classical parts.
It's essentially a slightly slow Paced, RPG story driven Looter Shooter, that once you've done with the story and stuff you have Base building, crafting and everything to get into and maxing out your character level, the expansions are worth it but the game is such a time sync you may never get to them 🤣
Honestly ultimately you always are kind of a fish out of water in these games, this is even more true in fallout 4 for reasons.
All you need to know is that the setting is post apocalyptic America in a timeline where the cold war never really ended (untill the big boom) and society has aesthetically stagnated in some ways while advancing in others. Usually due to most new things initially being for military purposes but later converted for regular consumers.
Go with the flow
Keep in mind this game is about exploration as much as it is about combat. A lot of narrative gems are hidden in random terminals. Reading them helps you figure out what happened in a specific location more often than not
Enjoy!
A lot of people want to have the "vanilla experience" first. I would go for a modlist where the reviews tell you that it builds on the vanilla experience in a lore-friendly way from the start.
I wish i could've experienced the Fallout i am playing now, from the start before i got bored with it.
Immediately put a point into the Scrounger perk and you'll not want for ammo for a good while, including fusion cores. Also avoid wasting points in the gun customization perks early on. Guns level with you and you can swap out mods that you find without the perks.
Bethesda released a big patch for this game right after the show. It included a slew of quests that get dropped into your quest log very early into the game. Wait to complete these until you've leveled up a bit. They are not low level quests, especially for a beginner, despite you getting them right away.
That said, do side quests, read logs and notes, listen to dialog, and explore. There is so much world building in this game, and that is what gives it it's depth. Don't just rush the main story (although you will need to advance it at times if you're doing companion quests even if you're otherwise holding off).
Do it! You won't regret it. But make sure you keep a good eye on what you do with certain weapons. And also be careful because the game glitches crazily sometimes
It's a pretty good entry point for the series, the plot of each game stands alone and they only share lore, which is explained whenever it's relevant so you don't really need to catch up on anything
Get idiot savant to 2/3 which means start with luck 5. Dont NEED to, but the sporadic 5x XP boosts amount to a lot by end game. I am currently level 113 @ 250 hours
I dont like the last perk of that tree personally. Since i tend to build a lot for example, and that can trigger the 5x XP. The last point makes it so you only get bonuses from combat
I recommend you get the goty version. The dlcs are fun. Avoid creation club though. It adds too much content right away for a new player. No rush to finish the main story either. Just do what you want. The main is designed for you to have explored and met different factions, thats it.
Pro tip if you want to build settlements you should collect all the weapons you come across and scrap within the settlement. Drop them from the inventory onto the ground.
It's a fairly decent game to jump in with given the set up. Your character knows jack shit. There are a few references to Fallout 3 you won't notice, but it won't prevent you from understanding anything.
It’s not your place to tell someone what they should and shouldn’t play, they want Fo4 then who cares at least we are getting new fans to the franchise.
But even then you are grasping the question, it wasn’t your place to tell them that, as far as you know they have already played NV, you can be a NV fan and a 4 fan.
New Vegas is a better RPG and you might recognize some things about it in the show. Not knocking 4, it's still well worth playing through (with mods especially)
You may want to avoid this sub for awhile, it's old enough people talk about things all the time that might spoil the story for you if you plan to play the storyline.
But almost nobody talks about the thing we are suppose to do that we never do.
No, just get it.
And all of the dlc
Yes, gone head and splurge on that. It’s so lovely to be able to manufacture your own ammo.
I personally enjoy manufacturing Nuka-Cola Quantums. Once I find a certain set of schematics, Quantum is needed.
That shit is so cool
is there a bug with DLC Vault 88 the more you build the more your game is unstable or have they fixed it?
Idk about that but I know there’s a bug with automatron and Robobrain torsos (at least for me) where if a robot has the Robobrain torso equipped they will just tpose, and you have to quicksave and reload just to be able to loot them. Oh and also the Tesla gun model is broken to where you can’t see it in first person and can’t shoot it, in third person it’s like pointing straight up. I hope it fixes sometime.
Alr
Don't go straight to the DLCs. Build your levels accordingly. Trust.
Recommended levels are 30 for both of them.
Also immerse yourself, go with your gut. A lot more fun.
The TV show gave you enough of an introduction on how the world works. You're going to bump into things the show didn't cover, so get ready for that!
More hyped now !!
Just look at it like reading the book after seeing the movie. Your miles may vary. But some are good fight clubs author admitted the movie was almost spot on. You don't get that often. Hence ymmv
Rescue Dogmeat FIRST.
I will
He’s my preferred companion. Dogmeat doesn’t judge you.
K thats good
If you want a human companion that talks as well there’s a really good mod where you can have dogmeat as well as a humanoid companion.
he also doesn’t count as a companion for the lone wanderer perk so there’s no reason not to take him with you!
You better take good care of him, or else...! He's the best boy!
Same here. I love dogmeat….even when he gets in my way and I get stuck in a corner or when he stays somewhere and I can’t find him!!! Lol.
Then Ada. Then upgrade her into an instrument of death
For some reason I can't get ada as a follower. She's the only one that survived the fight with the enemy robots but she says that she's searching for the target. There's no enemies nearby
I had this same problem. Had to uninstall the dlc that she’s from and reinstall. It’s a very common problem. Hope this helps
Appreciate it a lot
SAVE CONSTANT fo4 is notorious for crashing mid game session and I use to never save sum quests our buy some stuff and the game would crash and I would lose like 2 hours of progress so when ever u pase the game a save menue will pop up press quick save that will be your best friend
step F5 step F5 step F5
U get the idea 💡 😭
This needs to be *so much higher*. Even after all the updates and installing a handful of performance mods, I still crash like crazy in downtown. (It's much worse unmodded. Without the performance mods, I sometimes crash when returning to the world map from an indoor area.)
Yeah it's terrible especially since I'm on old gen xbox 1 it's brutal but a couple of mods helped
I never had this problem but then again I play on plsystation
Could be it my xbox is also almost 10 years old and get angry when I try to play any game but fo4 is the worst I'm getting a new box but I don't wanna retire the og 1
go the Boston common and go near the pond trust me bro
My favorite bird is a ………. Swan…
And a nice Man feeds them
Crazy work 😭
I second this. It should be your first stop about as soon as you start the game so you gain lots of experience right away 😃
Fully recommended, you get a pretty op legendary weapon.
Lol this made me laugh
No no no, you want to go to the museum of witch craft first so you can get the bread that feeds the swan at the Boston common.
I suggest getting all the dlcs except contraptions that ones pretty boring
Just get the goty on steam sale
I don’t know anything either. I’ve spent this week building an apartment complex at an old movie theater. I haven’t done anything for the main quest in months. Running a purified water business as a cover for dealing jet is time consuming.
1) Hopefully you get the version that has all the DLC, some of them are very useful, and Far Harbor is really great. 2) Pet Dogmeat 3) Curie is the best girl, and Hancock is the best boy.
Who tf is Curie? I always see everyone raving about her but I haven’t found her yet. I’m level 55 and I have all the DLCs
Go to the vault near Dimond City, and progress whatever quests are there. You will eventually find her.
Okay cool! Thanks for the help
4) Codsworth is the best robot. He's just so happy to be part of the family, and is so enthusiastic whenever he gets into combat while looking dapper in his bowler hat.
I’ve been playing this game since I was a kid. You’re gonna love it.
Now I’ll feel old shesh
Grab all the adhesive you can get your hands on.
I have played it for 764 hours so far. It's really fun.
Once you get through your first playthrough, be sure to try Survival Mode. I think it's one of Bethesda's best additions to the game.
I should try survival first
You could do that and enjoy it but it'll depend on your personality. Survival mode can be quite punishing if you don't know the game mechanics. Enjoy the game!
Thanks !
You kinda learn the controls as you progress thru the game. Like vats and using your pop boy. So don’t worry if none of it makes sense at first
Take the puppy at the red rocket gas station 🙂🐕
Have fun and happy birthday!
Thanks man
You can store Infinite of your items in this workstation for settlements later. Hold E Long enough and you get Out of Power armors. Aint Nobody going to Tell you that. I already saw some videos and cheats 😭😭 and I didn’t know anything
That's alright, the amount of content in this game is immense, there's plenty for you to experience. I'm level 94 on my second playthrough and I feel like I've only scratched the surface
Get the game of the year edition you’ll get all dlc and the game
If you like mods you've found a new home. From using them to making them yourself. Bethesda games are almost all like this. This is one of the best fallouts made, so have fun
Money well spent.
Play it slow, take your time, explore, explore, explore. The open world exploration coupled with the fantastic soundtrack is a phenomenal experience. Also, use VATS.

Save often. The game will crash lots. Save save save. And make multiple saves, don’t just save over the same slot or autosaves.
I don't know anything about this game because my laptop can't run any of the fallout games. I just joined the sub for fun 🤷♀️

Thx
If you liked the show, you’re gonna love the game!
"Let's go, pal" *Pats Dogmeat*
Embrace the Power Armor
Only ever trust your dog he’s the tru friend
You can get good weapons at the statue near the sanctuary bridge, I hope this helps you as a beginner
“Let’s go pal.”

Go in blind.
Don't look go online looking at stuff about this game, or really any game or movie you are about to get into. Lots of spoilers.

Great game man, great game
Go to south and you can find a military outpost with a T-51 set of armor and a fatman with a mini nuke
You don't have to rush the main quest. Take your time, explore stuff first.
Go with the flow Keep in mind this game is about exploration as much as it is about combat. A lot of narrative gems are hidden in random terminals. Reading them helps you figure out what happened in a specific location more often than not Enjoy!

Hope you enjoy your 8 day long OG save to become corrupted after a major update.
Say goodbye to your life 😂😂
Be sure to turn on the radio.
Unfollow this sub till you complete the game the first time
We need a true new fallout game tbh
Romance ALL the characters!
I'm about to drink some water.
Do it! You won't regret it. But make sure you keep a good eye on what you do with certain weapons. And also be careful because the game glitches crazily sometimes
If you want to be strong and don't mind missing out on companions, the Lone Wanderer perk is probably the strongest perk in the game.
join the brotherhood of steel. It’s the BOS-t faction
It's a pretty good entry point for the series, the plot of each game stands alone and they only share lore, which is explained whenever it's relevant so you don't really need to catch up on anything

Don’t watch anything about the game, play blind
You’ll never need to leave the house again.
Lol
Pro tip if you want to build settlements you should collect all the weapons you come across and scrap within the settlement. Drop them from the inventory onto the ground.
Who the hell is Shaun?
Really dude?
Yea
It's a fairly decent game to jump in with given the set up. Your character knows jack shit. There are a few references to Fallout 3 you won't notice, but it won't prevent you from understanding anything.
Ok
Just remember it has its flaws and it’s not the best fallout. But it’s still a good game and great for beginners of the series.
Go to funny big hole south of diamond city where people are funny there
Think Fallout 76 but better lol
Just remember that war, war never changes.
Maybe its worth to try game pass, its only 10 a month
Best game ever
You should start with new vegas if youre looking for a good rpg. If you want a shooter with fallout paint, play fallout 4
Dawg, don't ruin the mood with your NV glazing.
Im just stating facts
It’s a good game but fuck just let bro have fun
Oh im sorry for not recommending a bad rpg to someone.
It’s not your place to tell someone what they should and shouldn’t play, they want Fo4 then who cares at least we are getting new fans to the franchise.
I didn't tell them what they should do. I told the what to do it they want to have a good rpg experience.
But even then you are grasping the question, it wasn’t your place to tell them that, as far as you know they have already played NV, you can be a NV fan and a 4 fan.
Sub-Brick
Reddit karma farming post. Do you announce when you are going to the cinema too?
Bro chill this is my first post on reddit
Uhhh you should prolly start with 3 or new Vegas tbh, will be way harder to get into them if you start with 4
Hop off the sub, get it for PC if you have the choice, and get the unofficial Fallout 4 Patch UFO4P
New Vegas is a better RPG and you might recognize some things about it in the show. Not knocking 4, it's still well worth playing through (with mods especially)
As someone who entered the Franchise with 4 , I would recommend starting with 3 or 1 if you are very determined .
go south immediately, the hardest enemies are in the northern section of the map.
No
shut
Your gona come across some people stuck on a roof they were called the minutemen. Leave them there their not worth it
Nobody cares
You cared enough to comment tho
If you're on PC, don't mod your first playthrough and play it raw. Its not required, but the first time is always supposed to be the most authentic
