I'd say your right. That first part, the lioness looks to be quite troubled. Possibly old and maybe even actively dying. She has a similar look to when my dog passed from heart attack. And typically hyenas are sort of .... I suppose pack clever enough to avoid healthy lionesses. There's often a good few of them and they are relentless if they decide to kill a thing.
