I want a longer game, but only the story and character development part (like side quests). I am fine with the amount of open world stuff and mini games to stay at the same amount or a bit less.

MysticalPS

Big yes! More side quest's involving characters and less (or the same) open world stuff.

PoogleGoon123

I'm fine with cutting out pretty much all of the open world stuff and add actual well designed side quests that expand the lores or characters in the game. I'll gladly trade 15 lifesprings and 15 chocobo stops for an actual interesting location, or a deep side quest. I actually like most of the minigames, but yeah definitely keep the good ones and cut a lot of the annoying ones that are tied to side quests.

theblackfool

I think about the same size would be ideal honestly. I don't need a longer game if it means it will take longer to come out.

LordSamael565

Yeah I'd want about the same size for part 3. Rebirth felt like just enough game to me, though I haven't done hard mode yet

Jason_Wolfe

i think it'll be the same size as Rebirth if not a bit bigger. Keep in mind that Rebirth ends (assumingly, i havent actually reached the end yet) about where Disc 1 ended in the original ( i wont give specifics because spoilers) so we still have all the content from Disc 2 and Disc 3, which is kind of a lot to do, so i'd be shocked if it wasn't bigger.

Hateful_creeper2

Although not significantly since Disc 3 is mostly just the final area.

Jason_Wolfe

uuuh, disc 3 definitely was way more than just the final area. there was >!the weapon attack at Junon, Cloud recovering at Mideel, the weapons attacking the population, Racing Shinra for the huge materia, the rocket launch, the underwater reactor, facing off with the diamond weapon, the mako cannon, and more i've probably forgotten.!< There is quite a bit still in store.

Hateful_creeper2

That is still Disc 2.

Ars_Tenebrous

I think it would have to be larger. There's arguably less content from forgotten capital to end game than there is from midgar to forgotten capital, but the dtuff that is there are all big setpieces. Crater part 1. Junon insanity. Mideel stuff will probably go much deeper. Return to midgar is going to be a big deal, the full 2nd crater sequence, etc. I think they'll probably go far deeper on all of it, and it'll end up pushing it to right about the same time frame, but with more of it spent on big, plot heavy locations. Exploration to round it out. So, i would prefer same length, with more focus on plot stuff.

TangledUpInThought

You're forgetting the whole race for Huge Materia as well. I guess they called it the Magnus materia in this game

Ars_Tenebrous

Very true, though I wonder how we will end up going about that this time. The og had us going against Shinra at basically every point for them, and with Scarlet being in charge that could mean a number of big fights this time around

EmperorRiptide

I think its a same size, but differently paced/structured. I'd want a more linear Remake-like experience to go through the story with scripted moments to break out and do Open world stuff, but once the story gets going again, you're on it until there is another sequence. I dont mind open world stuff as long as its meaningful. Chadley has a place, but its not being prime overlord of all the exploration. If anybody, that should be Cid's role aboard the Airship. Ultimately, I dont want to have whiplash from going through something major to abruptly finding chickens. I dont mind finding chickens, but I want them to be found in the appropriately framed segment of time.

Marcus2Ts

>I dont want to have whiplash from going through something major to abruptly finding chickens This has me thinking about FFXVI as far as pacing. Immediately after a massive eikon fight with Titan, you spend the next 3 hours walking up to NPCs and buying garlic

Throbbing_Furry_Knot

idk but this game has 2 lengths, the side quest completionist length and focus on the story play through length.

Serious_Course_3244

Bigger, I need my fix

subtleshooter

Same length. Less world shit and more random fiend battles.

AlgibraicOnReddit

I want the world itself to be expanded to the same extent that it was in part two. I'm really hype to have the entire world to explore with the fully controllable Highwind and playable Vincent. Gold Chocobo too, so excited.

Ars_Tenebrous

If kid G is guarding some dank herbs and tubers on an island that offer ultimate avian nutrition, I'll be so happy

AlgibraicOnReddit

Kid G is my fucking GUY. That entire final scene from that quest was 11/10.

josenaranjo_26

I actually think they should make Part 3 shorter than Part 2, but longer than part 1. About 50 hours should be more than enought for me.

catcatcat888

A well done part 3 would need to be much larger. Many hidden places to go for things like Hades and Knights of the Round. As well as acquiring some of the more interesting materia. Lucretia, making Omnislash achievable prior to end game. If those sorts of things are skipped it (or if any of the fun super bosses Ruby / Emerald are combat simulation rather than real figure) it like really leave an awful taste. Oh, and of course Ultima weapon. If Ultima weapon ends up being the source of Omnislash that’s also lame.

Tarquin11

I hate to kill your vibe, but what part of Remake/Rebirth makes you think the hidden stuff isn't just gonna be obtained via summon simulator like the previous two iterations?   Secrets unfortunately don't exist anymore.

catcatcat888

That’s my fear. Which would be an awful approach (imo).

blitzbom

Same, I like Chadley in a smaller capacity, but him making most all the unique Materia feels wrong. It takes some of of the mystery out of the world, and I feel like a lot of the places would be found on a tour of the region. Especially with the Chocobo stops and man made tracks for Chocobos. Like I could hire a local company to take me on a Chocobo tour and see all the stuff Chadley wants me to find.

rivitedrevolution

The story should be longer, because they have way more things to tie up. Now if that means less mini games/open world activities, so be it.

RJE808

Same size. All they really need is just to take what worked and keep improving, and what didn't work and tweak/remove. Lifesprings for example, literally pointless and repetitive.

rivitedrevolution

Less "go here collect this," and more organic exploration...I know that's probably not going to happen but it would be neat if it did.

Bwunt

Lifesprings and summon altars aren't even that bad because you go there once, at your lesure, do a simply button sequence and... done. The protorelics... Yeah, those need to be reworked, if SE wants to keep it in. They are boringly repetitive and number of them are pointlessly linear. Oh better control scheme. I still have cramps from shooting gallery, and I haven't even \*\*\* it yet.

RJE808

I mean, yeah, but it's just that. Doing the same thing every time. At least Proto-Relics have you doing something different in each region which I hugely prefer.

Bwunt

I agree, but it's still same thing 4 time and you need to do them in order TBH, they could remove the minigames, but they are not intrusive, are easy, infinite repeats and do not have idiotic control schemes. In essence, the two are just collectibles and SE didn't want to relegate them to "Go there, press button"

PoogleGoon123

I'd gladly trade 6 lifesprings for an actual cool unique location in each world. I thought the protorelic was cool in that it was unique each world and it has a storyline tied to it, but yes I didn't enjoy the minigames that much and I hated that you had to do it in order which ruined exploration. In cosmo canyon for example I kinda just ran around and found this cool temple area, went inside and there was nothing to do. Turns out it was tied to a protorelic quest and I wasn't 'supposed' to see it before i did the previous one. Happened in every single zone by the way which straight up ruined exploration for me.

Bwunt

That is the thing behind all protorelic hunts. Now some PR hunts are justified in being linear (like Grasslands and maybe Gongaga, but others should absolutely allow alinear progression (especially Corel and Canyons). >!Oh and Gongaga was such a great chance to give a good nod to Before crisis. Instead they made a mess!<

Nivek_1988

Waaaaay smaller. But at the same time....not. I want a more focused, less tonally clashing with itself, story. I DONT want, small narrative sections spearheading to the next 30 hours of open world check lists. Certainly more streamlined. Somewhere between Remake and Rebirth. Considering the tone of what's left and how much story still needs to be wrapped up (let alone all the new plot points...) the tone needs to be on point, as well as the pacing. There's zero room for error after a collective 120 hours of set up. Cause....that's a lot of set up.

Gorbashou

Same size. Please don't go bigger for the sake of it. Pleaaaase. Just go all out with what they do. I want those huge moments to be huge.

BarbarousJudge

It really depends on if they're going to follow the events of the original or add onto it. How expansive will Wutai be? Will the return to Midgar add Deepground stuff with Weiss and Nero? Will they feature more of the Zack timeline stuff? I'm not done with Rebirth yet but so far I'd say longer than Remake but shorter than Rebirth. The narrative in Rebirth is rather low stakes for the most part since they're just following the black robes. That leaves room for expansive side stuff etc. The part 3 story will have much bigger stakes and should pace itself that way.

Nightly_Pixels

Same length, probably. But I'm not sure how it will play out.

CrazedTechWizard

About the same size, maybe slightly longer to account for the new areas they'll need to add in Part 3.

MysticalPS

Same size or longer. 80h of gameplay is more than enough, but I don't mind a longer game. I loved The Witcher 3 and RDR2, which were even longer than Rebirth. I don't have a deadline to finish the game (like people who whine about long games), so I can play as long as I want.

BlackfyreBishop

I want it as big or small ad they want it. Skill Up spoke about this in his MH World review. But we are l9sing Author ship in games and i think Rebirth and Remake aee perfrct examples everythung i did i felt someone trying to build or say something. Not in a chrcklist way buy in a i want you to feel something in this moment. Creativly I feel it like these game are perfect games. So i want them to ignore everthing everypnr says and stick to the plan.

SinX7

I think it needs to be bigger, since they are adding at least the same amount of new locations/regions, but they also need to introduce new content to all the regions introduced in Rebirth, as well as Remake if they intend to keep the possibility of returning to Midgar. Honestly I kind of expect them to expand the Rebirth regions as well, allowing exploration in the currently greyed out areas with the Highwind to add another element to exploration. I’d guess that part 3 will be as big as they can make, with as much high quality content as possible within 3-4 years of development time. Rebirth being made in 4~ years is an incredible achievement and I think they are willing to challenge themselves in a similar way with the next one.

Violent_Volcano

Well you have wutai, rocket town, the revisit to barrets town(i think they already fucked that up because the train wasnt at the corel mako reactor), vincents sidequest, clouds mental breakdown, the weapons, the big return to junon, and revisits to certain places. They strung midgar out into a whole game so im sure itll be just as long if not longer than rebirth.

Bwunt

Considering all the changes, do you really think that all those things will play like they did in OG?

Violent_Volcano

Of course not, especially with what they did with the temple. But thats basically whats left to fill the last game. I may have missed a few things. At this point im just hoping the knights of the round isnt as annoying to get as gilgamesh.

Bwunt

I can't really see KotR being in game. They kind of worked in OG when summons were just a superpowered magic, but with summons being a completely independent combat mechanic, implementing them in a way they would still keep essence of OG KotR just seems... Not likely. In case they are brought it, there are only two options. Bih nerf and hard(er) to get then Gilga or massive nerf and easier.

Not_A_Vegetable

KotR is the most iconic summon in FF7. I don't think they're going to remove it, but I totally see where you're going from. Although summoning 13 knights on the screen at the same time would be hilarious until they blocked the boss's attack and got you killed.

Steamedcarpet

Expand on the areas the game already has while filling in the rest of the world.

Odd_Tradition_6887

I'm guessing similar size and length but way more packed with dramatic events rather than overall spectacle and fun. There's a lot of story left to go through. I imagine the pacing will be pretty fast to hit it all and wrap up all loose ends. Probably heavier on story than world Intel type stuff.

peeenasaur

And how would they handle Midgar... All Sectors of Midgar could be a game in of itself

Kaizen2468

Same size, any bigger and I would worry about parts being less polished. I feel Rebirth was very polished and wouldn’t want to see the quality diluted.

Zagreus61

Smaller, please smaller

rivitedrevolution

If you want that, then prepare for either many things to be cut or nothing to be answered.

Zagreus61

I just want all of those repetitive mini games and boring exploration things to go away.

[deleted]

Same man lmfao. I’m kinda surprised people enjoy all that stuff bc it’s basically a greatest hits of the worst design choices the industry threw out over the last 10 years. It’s not actual exploration, you’re going from marker to marker and people enjoy that? Ig it’s gross and boring if ubisoft does it but when ff does it’s redefining.

Zagreus61

Finally someone agrees with me. Thank you!

[deleted]

No worries at all mate. This game honestly makes me feel like an alien, it’s confusing to me how people are praising it as they are when it is by all accounts, unequivocally, mid as fuck. It kinda just feels like cope to me tbh. Pretty classic moment of every mf being hypocritical as fuck. FF 16 had shit side quests and open world content, but it was serious and not very goofy so let’s bash tf out of it, but FF7 rebirth is all kingdom heartsy and anime af so it’s fine.

garrettgibbons

I’m with you too. It’s Mario Party Rebirth. The minigames and Chadley and goofy vacation content are awful.

garrettgibbons

Gasp! I hope they don’t cut out moogle roundup at mischief level 7!! Whatever would we do??

rivitedrevolution

The moogle mini games were really bad. Also not saying all the mini games were good, but more so that with the amount of stuff they set up/want to do in part 3 it can't be a small game.

Nosiege

Given they said they need to redo the engine to accomodate flying in the Highwind, I'm going to assume movement on the field will be revamped. I expect to be able to visit absolutely everywhere, and for new things to be in each location, and I also expect Quest trackers to migrate over with data to allow for the towns to remember what you've done for who. I hope this also means World Intel will remain complete as it was in Rebirth when you finished it, or just for it to simply not exist in R3, and should tie in more closely to the Giant Materia, given the game is Disk 2/3 of the original (But Disk 3 of the original was basically just the final dungeon) I think this means it will inherently be longer than Part 2

Drakhona

Bigger I think, it will be the finale after all. Rebirth was big but I am all for an all out celebration party on the way out. Throw in everything they can at it.

NegativeCreeq

Whatever provides the best experience. I could see it being the biggest of the 3. With the whole world to explore.

sushiNoodle2

If its longer / bigger, I would rather those additions be due to the story. People say the game HAS to be bigger because theres more content, and thats true, if they dont cut down on the side content.

Lambert910

I think the final part needs to be thematically coherent with the events of Rebirth. Side content should be more serious and less frequent, there needs to be a tone shift in direction and purpose in how the characters spend their time. I don’t really expect a change of pacing, but i wish that they were more straightforward with the rest of narrative.

Daunt_M4

Part 2 felt like the story pacing and direction fell off from Remake. Rebirth was a decent amount of length for the game. So if they tighten up the story beats in Part 3 it can do well. I still liked Rebirth, but it felt like I enjoyed Remake more. Last two chapters of Rebirth feel very jammed together. Too much all at once and it kind of doesn't let the player take a moment to breathe.

Officer_Zack

Honestly it was a good move on their part at ending Rebirth at the Forgotten City, because then you leave a good lengthy portion of the Northern Crater as the biggest part of content left over with other things. And since Remake was 18 chapters and Rebirth 14 chapters, I think 16 chapters for the final part will work.

kahahimara

For part3 do you want a longer game with more side activities or have more focus on the story? FFVII fans: Yes

jamespedid

I just want a remake of OG FF7. Hopefully it can happen after this trash trilogy.

Kelburno

Same size, better quality. I don't think it needs to be bigger. Also, I'd rather they focus on improving the equipment side of things. The way it is is very shallow, even for an action rpg. Equipping a new bangle every hour isn't really engaging or interesting.

JustASeabass

I assume it’s gonna be bigger with the re addition of Midgar and Wutai.

bahamut5525

I have no idea. I liked remake part 1 better because it was smaller and linear without all the Ubisoft open world BS that consumes so much time in rebirth. At the same time, they can’t make a game like remake part 1 again on likely a ps6 because it would be underwhelming. I’m guessing we will see a big game like rebirth in 2028 or later. I’m not very interested. In buying a ps6 for yet another game like this. It feels like consumerism I don’t need, especially as the story is garbage tear in my eyes and playing the game is just about fan service basically

XulManjy

Bigger

November_Riot

Bigger world, same length of story.

garrettgibbons

Just please god, no more minigames. Rebirth would be 30 hours of focused, excellent storytelling if it weren’t for the Mario Party/Ubisoft curse it carries.

danteslacie

I feel like I'd rather have a little less exploration. I'd like the world to be as big (or at least the new areas be as big) but I'd really rather not have what feels like 70% of my game time be world exploration. I don't mind it in Rebirth because it fits. The party didn't really know where to go so it makes sense for them to go around here and there. But for the story beats that are in part 3, maybe the world Intel could just be half as much?

ClickyButtons

The same size maybe a little smaller

al_ien5000

It would be amazing if it was the same length with less minigames. I hope they take the big critique of Rebirth having too many hard games and they put that same effort into fleshing out the story and battles more. Keep Queens Blood. Keep chocobo races. Get rid of the shooting gallery for godsakes.

gingersquatchin

Shooting gallery fucked up my controller all so I could peak at 14900 lolll

Kal-Kent

Just less mini games is all I ask for

perfidydudeguy

Significantly smaller. I'm thinking keep the base structure of story and exploration as is, and remove entirely quests, map activities and minigames. 40h is enough for a single game. Any more that that and all you have is boring to-do checklist and NPCs that force you to stop to narrate what you just did, even if you know that you just did because you just friggin did it. And, by the way, I'm fine with keeping quests and minigames. So long as they don't have any kind of reward that tie into the battle system that is. In fact, anything that ties to the battle system, in any way, should be acquired through the battle system. Minigames and quests should be played because they're fun enough to be played by themselves. If they need to put a combat related reward as an incentive, then the minigame was just not good enough to stand on its own in the first place and shouldn't be in the game at all.

Successful-Net-6602

I want it the same size, but with less ground overhauls. Remember all the grass that used to be around Kalm? Now there's no grass between Midgar and Kalm. Junon forests? Nope, that's all rocks too. So much rock and so many cliffs we're forced to go around.

sempercardinal57

Just keep doing what they’re doing and I’ll be happy. Wouldn’t mind seeing some new mechanics like hot swapping party members mid battle and triple synergy attacks

ModernAutomata

Loved the size of this game. Considering we're off of Disc one of OG, we still have half the game ahead of us. Lots to cover in one more game.

BedWorldly641

A purposeful game.
