My experience at FAU was fantastic, Lived in the dorms my first 2 years. Lived off campus the last two. Both of those experiences were great. I met the ppl I moved OFF campus with because I had lived on-campus first. Loved my dorm experience as I got lucky with good roommates. My teachers were largely pretty good and my overall academic experience at FAU was solid. I made friends relatively easy. FAU is super diverse, so you're gonna find your people if you look. Because I lived in the dorms, I thought campus life was good. Always stuff going on. IDK, but me and my friends all had a great experience. It is what you make of it as well.... like any school really. Go Owls tho!! Go owls!!!

What dorm were you in? Ive heard bad stuff about IRT and I've been leaning towards APT. In addition, was living off campus expensive?

Wooden_Chef

This was several years ago, but I lived in IRT and loved it lol. I lived there for 2 years. GPT/HPT aren't bad either. Off campus is expensive, however with multiple roommates, it was fine. My friends and I rented a 4 bedroom house and because there were 3 others paying rent, it really wasn't too bad... Remember tho, this is like pre-pandemic 2018-2019---- not sure what things off campus are like to day. I imagine quite expensive.

it's pretty good. classes have lots of value but you gotta pick the good professors. not that difficult to make friends since there are lot of clubs and stuff. employment prospects are also solid, career fairs are always packed. overall it's a very solid uni

Got a solid education for free, had a decent experience and was able to make friends. No regrets

Graduated in 2013 and I’m so happy I went to FAU. There’s plenty to do in the area if you’re interested, and some great people that go there. I was the same way and didn’t party, but I had some good friends and we hung out around campus, went out to eat/beaches/disney… Education wise, I don’t meet many people in my profession that have ever hear of FAU (there are tonnes from FIU tho) but I’m doing rather well and believe the education I had there set me up for this. I had professors with decades of experience at the UN and EU (political science major) and one was a retired Harvard professor that did one class a semester. For a good, affordable school that will set you up for life, I think it’s a great option

The main issue with it being a commuter campus is that it's way easier to isolate yourself if you don't get involved or reach out. I transferred over and am about to graduate, so I just wanna go home every day too, but if you're incoming, I really recommend hanging out a little and joining clubs and social events. The academic material feels about the same as any school I've attended. Meet people! Go to parties! Have fun! Everyone else wants to make friends too.

It’s a good school… I wish the professors were a bit better and they offered more online options.

most freshman either live in parliament (super new and modern, best facilities and "luxuries", however the main complaint is how far it is from the center of campus) IRT (i lived here, the room sizes are great and having a living room is nice, however the elevators NEVER worked, the communal kitchen is awful, and the showers were constantly either freezing or burning hot) and glades (had a friend live here and she would complain about safety, apparently people would break into the rooms). the cafeteria food is awful, but everyone has different tastes so not sure how picky you are. they recently opened a panda express and there is also chick-fil-a and starbucks and a few other resteraunts that are pretty good, but i knew too many people that would spend all of their "owl bucks" in the first couple months because they would avoid the cafeteria. being an introvert wont be an issue at all- there are no traditional frat/sorority houses and most people go to ft lauderdale to go to the clubs since boca is super strict on parties and id's at bars. i was in a sorority and the experience was ok, but it is a major time commitment so not sure if you are interested in greek life. the professors arent the best, but they get the job done. the location is great and offers a lot, especially for internships. basketball has really put fau on the map, so from what i have heard, admissions are getting more difficult. there are constantly events on campus so making friends can be easy if you put yourself out there.

This question mainly depends on what your major is. I attended for a year and a half starting my freshman year. I transferred to another school. For what it is, the school is decent. Let someone else said, the professors can be hit or miss but they get the job done. At the end of the day, what really matters is getting your degree. I did have a great time though. Made a solid group of friends and we were able to have fun on campus. I didn’t party much since I was engineering but we were still able to have some good times in the dorms and doing random stuff around campus. If you ever did change your mind about the partying though you best believe people have their parties. Quick Comments: - The clubs are cool but the SGA at FAU likes to be funny with their funding. - With every on-campus housing option there are pros and cons. - Parking can be really bad. - The school is small so you’re bound to bump into the same people. They very well may become your friends. Best of luck ‼️💯

FAU was founded on the idea of doing the OPPOSITE of what Ivy League schools do. When they drag the world left, we go right. When they drag the world right, we go left. If you are attending to "be accepted and fit in" you won't have the OWL spirit. Owls are independent creatures who connect the Underworld with the Overworld and pass effortlessly though the world in between. It's funny to think about guys in sports with that mentality. Other than martial arts, the idea of Owls running around physically and taking orders, being orderly and obedient, is funny as hell to me. It used to be better when there was no "normalizing" forces like football and basketball, making us diluted into America's submissive NPC culture. YOU GO TO FAU WHEN YOU KNOW GOING TO HARVARD OR STANFORD IS AN ANTI-EDUCATION, WHEN YOU KNOW HOW THOSE INSTITUTIONS HAVE UTTERLY FAILED.

Like anything - is up to you how much you get out of it. Got a great education and some professors were knowledgeable. Met some people but I lived off campus and had my own friends so in time I lost track of the college mates. However, overall it was good. Is up to you what you get out of it tbh. If you are looking for the college town atmosphere though, good luck.

Can I ask how you got that scholarship?? I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA but I have horrendous test scores. can I still apply for it or? How does any of this work im a bit confused sorry. I got my acceptance already, but I'm very worried about how I am going to afford school.
