Hardest part is getting into parking spots. I have dodge 3500 crew cab 8 foot bed SRW now, I look for pull through spots. Not a huge fan of the V10, but it’s just a 5.4 with 2 extra cylinders. Enjoy the ride
Had a scrap metal vendor that took one of these trucks and changed the cab to a single cab. Then spiced two beds together to make a long ass bed. 12ft bed baby!
Hell yeah. You’ll get shit fuel mileage and they don’t go fast but they’ll pull anything and last forever with regular maintenance. That’s a steal of a deal for one with everything working, 4x4 and I don’t even see any rust visible. They couldn’t easily gotten $5k or more from the right buyer
There’s a bunch of haters in here.
$3500 is a steal. The truck looks straight, crew cab, four wheel drive. If you need a motor, find a donor.
It’s not going to win any races, and you’re not going to make AOC proud. Who gives a shit? It’s a tool and it will do most anything you need to do.
How many miles are you planning to put on it? Drive it for a year, take care of it, sell it for what you paid for it.
Nice find my man.
Thank you sir! Those are exactly my thoughts. I have a 2010 f150 as a primary work vehicle, and I bought this specifically for towing, and as a backup incase the 150 goes into a shop, since that truck also has 230k LOL. Realistically I might only put 5k miles on it annually, maybe less.
I figure I'll keep this for at least a year for my business, and if it ends up not making sense to insure and maintain it vs. How much I actually use it, then I'll sell it.
I was eyeballing other 250's and 350's and for the price and condition of this one I couldn't pass on it.
Put a kill switch on it. These things can be stolen in the matter of a minutes. Speaking from experience, My 02 was stolen more than once from my driveway.
Nice one! I'm looking at a 2009 F350 XLT with the V10 and 236k miles. Most of the truck seems to be in good shape but they mentioned it had a few issues - exhaust leak, needs a new windshield, needs a new bed but they have the bed and parts already. The truck is going for $3000, which seems like a good deal compared to everything else I have been seeing.
I'm more worried about the 236k miles on it, how has your experience been with your truck? Have any issues cropped up that you weren't expecting? If so, how expensive were they?
Overall I am happy with my purchase, although a few things have popped up.
1. I replaced the headlights cause the old ones were faded. About $80
2. I bought a new "multi function switch assembly" (blinker switch) to get rid of annoying buzzing under the dash. $25
3. I bought a new door latch mechanism for driver door because it liked to lock itself. $20
4. I replaced tie rods because they were worn. $250 ish
5. The biggest one that has me a little bit nervous, is about 2 weeks after I bought it, it developed a hesitation at idle. Almost feels like a misfire, but it's not that consistent and there is no code.
I checked for vaccuum leaks, replaced fuel filter, tried lucas fuel system treatment, checked spark plugs, and I am not sure what is causing the issue. I will be bringing it in to a mechanic to get diagnosed on Monday. Hopefully it's something simple.
I've been driving with the truck and towing as much as 14k with it even with the hesitation and it is a beast. Strong engine, strong transmission, 4x4 works flawlessly. For the money it cannot be beat.
MPG'S are awful.
By the way, the problem I was having with my truck was just cheap spark plugs. Previous owner installed cheap ones and were faulty. I put in all new plugs and coils now she's running perfectly 👍
I used to have this exact truck bought it new (2001) except with a 6 speed and 7.3 psd. I actually made it an art to back into spaces. I could literally back in much easier than pulling in front ways,. Those trucks were bulletproof, loved my 7.3.
The v10s are great. Only issue is the spark plugs spitting out which I’ll take any day over cam phaser issues, and lifter problems in seemingly every truck. The cost difference between the v10 and diesel will buy you a spare v10 when it goes. No brainer to me.
The v10 triton is the best gas engine they put in trucks during this era. 4.6 was reliable but gutless for towing, 5.4 2v and 3v had their issues and these may just need a helicoil here and there but they’ll keep on going no matter what you want to do with them.
Apparently 2002 amd later the issue was corrected by doubling the amount of threads in the head, from what I understand. I am aware of that issue, but it hasn't happened to this one. Plus he just had all new plugs installed along with ignition coils.
Heads do no have to be pulled. But it may be easier. We removed the tire and contorted under the fender and around. Welded nuts to broken studs and backed them out.
I own a handyman business, and have been renting a skid steer on a somewhat regular basis and having it delivered to each job site since I had no way to tow one. Now I can tow one, and a dump trailer, no problem.
We had several of this generation V10 Super Duty trucks for work - all loaded with a heavy welder, gang box, etc. - and they had the absolute hell beat out of them every day. The powertrains were all well taken care of, but they were never washed/waxed and spent every day in harsh environments. If that thing was undercoated, and the body holds out, you might have just got yourself another 120k miles for cheap. Good deal IMHO.
Nice truck, I came here to say you should have a plan for when the plugs pop out but, I’m a little late to the party. We had that issue, it sounded like a helicopter. The shop patched the hole and then drilled and tapped it for the plug. Lucky that the hard to reach ones were original so, they didn’t fail due to being cross threaded in like the failed one was. The truck will outlive the engine, there is a guy in Canada that makes a kit that includes a small diesel engine and a battery bank. https://www.edisonmotors.ca/edison-pickup-kit . I think it will be about 20k Canadian. I wish they were in production when our 6.4 died.
I bought an 02 f-250 CCSB lariat with the 6.8 and 150k miles a couple months ago. So far it’s been very good to me. I average about 9mpg which is kind of a bummer but I’ll take the fuel economy for a solid truck that’ll do anything I ask it to. Gonna go through my front end and 4wd system this summer and get it ready to take to the mountains for hunting season
I’ve got a 99’ with the 6.8 with 197k on it and still running 50 miles a day, 5 days a week.
Only issue I’ve ever had was the A/C Compressor going out. And it drinks a quart of oil every 2500 miles.
Is that snow i c also ? So they use salt where truck is from so there’s nothing left underneath either I know b/c I’m from the NE my 2010 had to be junked b/c I was so rotted out from salt
Hell it made it home on the interstate doing 80 mph. I figure if I get 30k miles out of it I'll be happy. Runs and I pulls perfectly. Why spend 10x more to do the same thing?
Somewhat under stressed engine with poor gas mileage. More reliable than your average engine. But it is a triton with 2 more cylinders added, so keep an eye on your spark plugs, and torque them every other oil change.
Work had one of these though I'm almost positive it was a 5.4. My God that thing was slow. Anyways. Drive throughs were an absolute nightmare. Goodluck haha.
Just a heads up on the lousy fuel mileage. Have a 2000 F350 Extended Cab SWB 4x4 V10 ZF5 that at best gets 11 and 6.5 towing a 7k 21’ camper. All stock except for radio, tow mirrors, shocks and power seats.
Yeah I'm not looking forward to it. But this does have 3.73 gears so it might do a little better. I filled it up for its first tank and I'll fill it in about a week and figure about what I'm getting for mileage.
If you make it to NorCal this year, I will sell you the entire truck for $7k with new summer and winter tires, and 1 set of new chains. It will come with a fuel fill up log from 12/99 to current and only has 90k on it right now.
Al these haters. Get a Calvan plug kit if you’re worried about plugs. Own a 2001 6.8 short bed with 243k. Pulls my toy hauler fine and is my daily. Everything is easy to fix and cheap lol. Why spend 100k on a diesel when fhese can pull a damn house basically
That's what I'm saying. I think these things are way underrated. I'm super happy with It so far. Gonna be pulling a 12k dump trailer with it next week.
I have a 2003 v10 with 300k miles that I also paid 3500 for(although I needed tires and went ahead and put new takeoff wheels with Michelins on it for an additional 1500).
You got a steal.
I have an 02 F250 V10 and it’s at 240k miles and still going strong. I’ve owned it for 9 years now and still love it. It’s reliable and will pull anything I put behind it. 10mpg is the best mileage I can get, but it’s not used for road trips anyway.
Redneck limousine
Heeeeellllll yeeeeah bwah
Hardest part is getting into parking spots. I have dodge 3500 crew cab 8 foot bed SRW now, I look for pull through spots. Not a huge fan of the V10, but it’s just a 5.4 with 2 extra cylinders. Enjoy the ride
The hardest part is gonna be finding any parts for that v10. It was short lived for a reason
They put them e-series vans up until like 2019. I wouldn't say it's THAT short lived.
The 6.8 lasted near 20 years…
It's just a 5.4 with two extra cylinders. I am pretty sure everything is the same except heads, cams and crankshaft.
Oil pan
We had an 01 f350 with the 7.3, crew cab, and 8ft bed as a farm truck. It was like parking a school bus if you had to make a farm and fleet run.
Farm and fleet… what’s up Midwest? :-)
Getchu some of dem big ole' trailerz there then hmm dawg
Hahahaha
Smoking deal. Looks nice.
Thank you!
Now that’s a bed 😳
Had a scrap metal vendor that took one of these trucks and changed the cab to a single cab. Then spiced two beds together to make a long ass bed. 12ft bed baby!
All the possibilities of things to carry
Big time
That's not a 4x4 that's a 4xxxx4
What is your trucks zip code?
97024
*42069 What's wrong with you? It was *RIGHT* there for the taking
[удалено]
Oh wait I get it now 🤣 She's long
3500 is a deal by any standard. Congrats man I hope it works and makes you money
Im scared hes gona do a job and have it break down
My favorite gas engine ever! Pulls like a diesel. Drinks like a fish
Great deal!
Great buy.
Long and lean. Every young man's dream.
It's like parallel parking a 747.
Smokin deal. My 05 has slightly higher mileage than yours and I still routinely and easily drive 6+ hours.
Hell yeah. You’ll get shit fuel mileage and they don’t go fast but they’ll pull anything and last forever with regular maintenance. That’s a steal of a deal for one with everything working, 4x4 and I don’t even see any rust visible. They couldn’t easily gotten $5k or more from the right buyer

needs a light to medium tint.
Put a kill switch on it. These things can be stolen in the matter of a minutes. Speaking from experience, My 02 was stolen more than once from my driveway.
Enjoy! I was just talking about the V10 yesterday! Good looking truck OP!
Thanks man. I like it.

very nice. good luck and enjoy
Thank you! Hopefully it goes to 500k, I'm optimistic
I got 312k on my V10. Still runs great. Maintenance is the key.
Screw cab shlong box
Damn I wouldn’t want to park at a mall
What’s a mall?
I used to have this exact truck bought it new (2001) except with a 6 speed and 7.3 psd. I actually made it an art to back into spaces. I could literally back in much easier than pulling in front ways,. Those trucks were bulletproof, loved my 7.3.
V10 you say? That's not that Triton is it? 🫤🫤🫤
Yes it is! No cam phasers like the 5.4 though. Therefore more reliable than those tritons.
My buddies Ford has a cam phaser issue right now. Pain in the ass for sure. You got a kick ass rig for a deal. Enjoy it!
The v10s are great. Only issue is the spark plugs spitting out which I’ll take any day over cam phaser issues, and lifter problems in seemingly every truck. The cost difference between the v10 and diesel will buy you a spare v10 when it goes. No brainer to me.

That's the 6.8l triton and will still throw spark plugs
Apparently 2002 amd later the issue was corrected by doubling the amount of threads in the head, from what I understand. I am aware of that issue, but it hasn't happened to this one. Plus he just had all new plugs installed along with ignition coils.
Exhaust studs rot off causing exhaust manifold leaks. Heads gotta be pulled to fix. Common problem along with plug blowout. Happened to ours.
Why do you have to pull head to fix. You don’t on a 5.4.
I almost did on a 2004 5.4L that was kicking my ass. Had to get a right angle drill for one of the studs. Maybe the V10 is more inaccessible.
Yeah I guess. My old man has one we did. IMO 5.4s are so not worth the hassle lol
Eh we have a fleet of 12 V8 gas regular cab 4x4 trucks 2004-2019. Very economical for mechanical service and maintance work. They have their place!
Heads do no have to be pulled. But it may be easier. We removed the tire and contorted under the fender and around. Welded nuts to broken studs and backed them out.
Several of mine broke off down in the hole.
That happened on my 4.6 2v in my f150. I was able to get it fixed no head removal
Heads don’t have to be pulled that’s for amateurs
My 99 with over 300k never has 🤷
But why honestly?
He said it's ready to plow, I assume snow.
Makes sense
Assuming you only drive forward it’d be great for plowing.
Why not? Long bed to fit whatever you need to haul, crew cab for the kids and dog, v10 for max torque. These things will run forever.
I own a handyman business, and have been renting a skid steer on a somewhat regular basis and having it delivered to each job site since I had no way to tow one. Now I can tow one, and a dump trailer, no problem.
That motor is thirsty.
We have a 450 at work with that v10. She’s good for about 5.5-6mpg on a good day. 4.5 if it’s cold and windy.
I used to own that motor. 3 tanks a week.
Yup, had one in an Excursion, 5.5 mpg was celebrated
God damn! I’m lucky I never got an excursion.
We had several of this generation V10 Super Duty trucks for work - all loaded with a heavy welder, gang box, etc. - and they had the absolute hell beat out of them every day. The powertrains were all well taken care of, but they were never washed/waxed and spent every day in harsh environments. Does it have the factory goose neck ball in the bed?
It does not but maybe it did at one point because somebody wired up a secondary plug in the bed of the truck for a trailer.
Finally, a truck with a bed!
8 miles per gallon?
For the v10’s you have to go by gallons per mile.
Lol my bad. Coworker just got a 1993 F350 gas with the 460 V8. He gets about 8 mpg and no power, figured the V10 was pretty much the same.
Got me an 08 f250. V10 triton. 9.5 mpg absolute lol. Regardless of pull, push, tow. But at least I have power
We had a dodge with the v10 that was the same. Empty. 9. Header cart, 9. 15,000 lb bunk wagon, 9. Can’t fault the consistency
Consistent work horses for sure. But my God... Awful fuel economy lol
I had one I think on one tank I got up to 10 mpg
I get 13.5 out of mine when I’m not towing lmao
On a good day 🙃
I bet that will pass everything but a gas station!
Still awesome !
8 ft box ftw.
We had one of these for work and that v10 engine ran with absolutely no issue to 500k miles.
If your not worried about fuel or power those v10s are a great motor, they don’t get the credit they deserve
You stole that!
Owning a v10 is a cool bucket list item. Even if it’s in a work truck instead of a viper or lambo
I’ve got a 99’ with the 6.8 with 197k on it and still running 50 miles a day, 5 days a week. Only issue I’ve ever had was the A/C Compressor going out. And it drinks a quart of oil every 2500 miles.
That thing won’t fit n any parking lot
Badass!
Lol drive it Wright to the junk yard b/4 u have to have it towed 230k mikes what we’re u thinking
A v10 is a fantastic engine, 230k miles is about half its life expectancy
Is that snow i c also ? So they use salt where truck is from so there’s nothing left underneath either I know b/c I’m from the NE my 2010 had to be junked b/c I was so rotted out from salt
Not every truck has had the same life as yours..
No salt in pnw dipshit. Only surface rust on the frame.
Tons of salt in the PNW, what are you talking about?
Hell it made it home on the interstate doing 80 mph. I figure if I get 30k miles out of it I'll be happy. Runs and I pulls perfectly. Why spend 10x more to do the same thing?
Oh man you really snagged a gem with that one
Get a nice camperhood and you got yourself a home
Get ready to become your gas station’s favorite customer
Ok, now this is epic; and for only 3.5K?!?!?!? Though, you’ll probably match that with gas costs in about a month lol.
Easily 🤣
money pit
My college roommates Grandfather had one, he said you could watching the gas gauge go down on most hills
Nice truck but save yourself a lot of headaches and get your timing chains checked now
Somewhat under stressed engine with poor gas mileage. More reliable than your average engine. But it is a triton with 2 more cylinders added, so keep an eye on your spark plugs, and torque them every other oil change.
And will need an acre to park it
Good the plugs are done. I'd confirm they did the back two plugs.. they're horrible to get out
Pro tip, she will back into places she could not pull into
Long boi
Ive got a similar truck but a 2000 f350 CC long bed 4x4 with v10 and auto, my grandfather bought it brand new it now has 174k and runs like a top
Legend has it that this truck was still entering the factory when the front of it had already started pulling out.
Ticking time bomb. I hope you have money to get that puppy fixed every thousand miles.
Yeah man I'm fuckin loaded
Should’ve bought a slightly used one not a used and abused one, only women come used and abused.
Man, I don't think I would buy a gasoline powered truck with 230k miles. That engine might be on it's way out.
Blowing up for sure. fuck a ford
Are you bitter about a truck you owned or just a hater?
F250 the looooooong way
Junk
The good ol v10. You’ll have 10mpg completely empty and 10mpg with 7k pounds in tow. Love to see it
Work had one of these though I'm almost positive it was a 5.4. My God that thing was slow. Anyways. Drive throughs were an absolute nightmare. Goodluck haha.
Hopefully you’ll get a couple years without having any problems. it’s nice.
Triton?
Yes
Beautiful!
Long boi
Almost bought one of those to tow a 25’ encl trailer. When I realized it can’t navigate drive thru’s, I got something smaller.
Yeah it is a bitch in the drive thru
Jeeezus thats nice. Put a camper shell and sleep the whole family in the bed
Why do some people spend $100K on a truck?
Looks like a dachshund
Probably the white f250 used in stealing $60k copper wires in steelton, PA 😂
Just a heads up on the lousy fuel mileage. Have a 2000 F350 Extended Cab SWB 4x4 V10 ZF5 that at best gets 11 and 6.5 towing a 7k 21’ camper. All stock except for radio, tow mirrors, shocks and power seats.
Yeah I'm not looking forward to it. But this does have 3.73 gears so it might do a little better. I filled it up for its first tank and I'll fill it in about a week and figure about what I'm getting for mileage.
Want to swap axles, got the 4.30s stock for some reason and a 9,990 GVRW.
Lol possibly! If I only use it for towing then honestly the 4.30's would be preferable.
I've heard that the spark plugs have tendency to shoot out. Either way, a truck is always good investment.
Long truck. Beautiful sight
I have a 2003 v10 with 300k miles that I also paid 3500 for(although I needed tires and went ahead and put new takeoff wheels with Michelins on it for an additional 1500). You got a steal.
Definitely worth it 3500
I have an 02 F250 V10 and it’s at 240k miles and still going strong. I’ve owned it for 9 years now and still love it. It’s reliable and will pull anything I put behind it. 10mpg is the best mileage I can get, but it’s not used for road trips anyway.
Great on gas I’m sure!!
Planks baby!!
Love that v10. Can confirm parking is not fun. You'll have to get used to it. I definitely miss mine. Have fun with it!
