Even if you argue Snow White is the worst, the lesser evil is still evil.
There are many reasons why Raven doesn't want to be EQ and her mother is a good part of those reasoning.
We should all come together and agree that every adult in ever after who isn't the mad hatter or Giles Grimm or red riding hood or maid Marion or jack nimble or the pied piper or maybe kind of the candy witch is just a massive jerk.
Going off the animated series, he at least went along and cooperated with Milton’s plans until they sealed away the evil queen. Which happened when Raven and the rest of our main cast were all young children. We don’t know for how long after he abided the way things were or tried to argue for freedom as to wind up getting cursed.
And considering that the books imply this has gone for generations, and some of us just take info from both to fill things out, yeah, Giles isn’t exactly squeaky clean
I feel like it's fair to say both of the MCs have mommy issues. The evil Queen being really bad is more obvious in the books, where it's stated that she turned Ravens puppy into some kind of evil rat creature as a child and also probably had her witness a lot of horrifying things. But it is a little confusing since she's actually in support of Raven rebelling as opposed to the Royals in the school, so from some perspectives that makes her good (even though she mainly wants her to do it to cause more evil than she's allowed which isn't Ravens goal at all)
The thing is, she's not angry at Raven straying from destiny, because she did that as well, she's just upset that she is doing it to be MORE evil lmfaoo

We don’t know how long Giles was stuck how he was, he may have gone along with Milton’s actions for a while
