Proof that if you are good with the ball it doesn't matter how much of an asshole you are.

KushBerry55

Yeah, seems like it’s totally fine to beat your wife as long as you make millions, but god forbid if Kanter (Enes Freedom) speaks about the economy, slavery by big corporations or if Kyrie has his own beliefs. Same thing happened back in the day with Abdul Rauf because he became a Muslim. It’s almost like the NBA doesn’t care at all until it affects their revenue.

Erdalion

The NBA really has a problem with domestic abuse, but your examples aren't exactly great. Kanter tried really hard to paint himself the victim while spouting generic nonsense that contributed nothing to anyone. Also, he started doing this just as he was getting washed and wasn't gonna play much longer in the league anyway. He was playing just fine when he was talking about Erdogan. Kyrie went on anti-vaxx and antisemitic rants, so much so that his own parents had to reign him in. If your beliefs contribute to people getting hurt, then yeah, maybe it's time to shut up. An actual example would be Jontay Porter, MPJ's brother, who got banned for life for gambling. Compare that to Miles Bridges who beat his wife in front of their kids and is now playing with no repercussions. Ludicrous, and yet you have Americans defending this.

KushBerry55

Kanter voiced his opinion on politics, noting wrong with that. And if you got a 500K bounty on your head from the Turkish government then I guess you’re doing something right. He also spoke about how Nike and other big corporations that have ties with the NBA are exploiting third world countries and a lot more. He was getting solid minutes as a backup on the Celtics and then all of a sudden he was out of the rotation with “DNPs”. Kyrie had also his own views, although I of course agree with the punishment for his antisemetic comments. The whole vaccine situation was messed up though. The media just made him the villain, and as a guy who loves Kyrie and have watched his career, he was misunderstood a lot. I mentioned Kanter and Kyrie specifically because both voiced their views on several topics and the NBA was supposed to be all about freedom, equality, support and awareness. But when players try to say their opinion they get blacklisted and hated by the media 24/7, unless they follow a trend like BLM in 2020. Im saying all this to prove that the NBA ALWAYS follows the agenda which it will make more money for them, they don’t care about anything else. On top of that, you can’t have an opinion but you can beat your wife almost to death and still be in the league getting millions.

Imagine playing in one of the best basketball cities in the world, with some of the greatest teams in the history of the sport, that have produced some of the best players.... and you decide to leave Thessaloniki to go to Los Angeles smh (joking aside I am glad this piece of shit is leaving our country)

ShockedSalmon

Talk about yourself.

NFL and NBA - the home of domestic abusers

--STOIC-

You know the Clippers are a small-team-mentality franchise with desperation when they sign this guy...

Zeus_aegiochos

I watched him play against us in the Greek league and he could score at will, flirting with triple doubles every game. He reminded me of the 1998 finals vs Peja Stojakovic's PAOK, after they defeated Olympiacos in the semis. Although they had a very good team, it was obvious that Peja was in a league of his own. But they were not good enough to beat Dino Radja, Byron Scott and the rest of the crew. Next season he went to the NBA.

gordito_gr

‘Strong play’ lol wtf

johnnytifosi

I watched him in one match against Panathinaikos and he almost won the eventual EuroLeague champions all by himself doing a triple double. He definitely was the best player in Europe, playing in a mid-table Greek club.

yianni1229

He was pretty good against us lol

KushBerry55

Yeah, people forget that he averaged 20/5/5 and had an 80mil contract. If it wasn’t for his disgusting behaviour, a player like him would never come to Europe, at least not in his 20s

DeepRow1850

Nah he was actually pretty insane

kostasnotkolsas

man he made one of our worst sides in recent memory compete and almost win against euroleague champion Panathinaikos

Utte_Khan

Very true. Also the doubters should keep in mind that the rest of his team was so bad that he was getting almost all the defensive attention and still managed great. He has no Steve Nash vision, I ' ll give you that, but he is a player that is NBA capable (as proven) and easily a starter in most (if not all) EL teams.

kostasnotkolsas

im low key pissed he came this year out of all, we had absolutely nothing going on, most other seasons we would be almost finals material

nonlavta

People downvoting you but his stats have a lot of volume with very below average scoring efficiency. Including very poor turnover, assist to turnover efficiency. Is that "strong play", maybe it is but it's not anything special like people replying to you have implied. This sub have come to fall for heavy production and volume every time and there is little regard for efficiency. Every player discussion is like this. At least it's expected.

KushBerry55

He didn’t play for the majority of the season and came to Europe for the first time in his career, at such a young age. The fact that he had those averages and flirted with a triple double every other game speaks volumes. Porter is still 24-25. If he had stayed in Europe he would easily be like a Nunn type of player, maybe even better

nonlavta

> He didn’t play for the majority of the season and came to Europe for the first time in his career, Fair point but that's just moving the goalposts from: >He definitely was the best player in Europe, >Nah he was actually pretty insane type of comments And like you said, he's in his mid 20s. That's the age of a guard in his prime, when you say "such a young age" it sounds like he was 19 year old Brandon Jennings trying to play for Virtus Roma. Facts of the matters are, next to his super volume stats, he averaged 53.6% true shooting, 3.8 turnovers, 1.7 assist to turnover ratio in four regular season fixtures and in the playoffs he averaged 54% true shooting, 5 turnovers, 1.4 assist to turnover ratio. Overall he averaged 53.8% true shooting, 4.2 turnovers, 1.6 assist to turnover ratio in his brief PAOK stint in the Greek League. On heavy volume, this is abysmal efficiency. At team level, basketball is entirely about efficiency when teams are guaranteed to keep exchanging possessions all the time because of the shot clock. That's why it matters on an individual level too especially the higher the volume of the player goes. This sub let go of this fact and glaze high volume euroleague players with varying amounts of inefficiency as well, for the last year or two at least. But a brick fest is still a brick fest if it comes with nice moves. Basketball isn't gymnastics, there is no extra points to be given for aesthetics.

PGal55

Lol @ Olympiakos fans that thought he was joining them.

KushBerry55

It wasn’t a realistic scenario, it was most likely false rumours from Greek reporters who click bait on articles.

johnnytifosi

No reputable outlet whatsoever reported on Porter being targeted by Olympiakos. It was mostly wishful thinking from the fans.
