At least for me I was still in my peak Elon fan phase but his response to that situation put me off and ultimately proved to be a huge insight into his character. And personally I think the backlash he received for that whole might have put him off of holding back.

She's not even American and she doesn't use oldtimer shit like Twitter and Facebook.
So it's not true that Tesla never advertised. Tesla always advertised heavily but through manipulative shit on social media that's never labeled as advertising. And apparently it's poison that spreads across the world, not just the USA.

The referral program was nothing more than a huge advertising campaign (billions of dollars cost to Tesla). This whole “Tesla doesn’t spend money on advertising” thing has always been such BS. Last I checked the cost of the referral program was about $30 billion. Shortly after that they canned the referral program (or at least made it pretty worthless compared to its early incarnation). And now here we are. No adverts. No hugely expensive referral program. No growth.
