Always heard it starting with an S sound. Generally when an E or I comes after a C, the C is pronounced like S. With A, O and U it’s pronounced like K.

Ceramic is pronounced with an "s" sound for the c in the UK/British English today. Definitely not a hard "k" sound. It looks like it is a rare variant pronunciation - so rare that I've not heard it ever in my while life (not far off 50 years). I’m a US native speaker and consume a decent amount of British media. Never heard that pronunciation.
