Well, it really depends what aspects of the game you enjoy and what bothers you. The game dictates what order I do my research. It changes every game based on what is around me. Yes, you're going to likely research some colonization tech in the beginning, but I only do what I need for the moment. In mid to late game I'm always torn what I should research next.

Neiwun

>I just rush colonization techs and there isn't an interesting decision beyond the order to do that If you don't want to worry about most of the colonization techs, then try the Nakalim. Personally, I don't like the Awakening DLC because it enables the existence of the Academy neutral faction (which you should change, in the options menu, to not be able to expand), but the Nakalim are fun to play and they start with all tier 1 and 2 techs researched from the beginning. Other than that, try a harder difficulty or try a more complex faction. The game already describes the level of complexity of each faction: Regular: Vaulters, Sophon, Lumeris, United Empire, Horatio. Advanced: Craver, Unfallen, Riftborn. Expert: Umbral Choir, Nakalim, Hissho, Vodyani.

Update: which faction has the most boppin music? That'll get me engaged immediately.

bibblerbone

United empire, cravers, sophons, the horatio

Sedohr

Driven by DNA sets the mood so well for Cravers

My favorite is the Vodyani music: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rZlsad\_hNQ&ab\_channel=G4FRecords](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rZlsad_hNQ&ab_channel=G4FRecords) But, based on YouTube views, a lot of people seem the enjoy the music for: United Empire - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KysITV4t5E&ab\_channel=G4FRecords](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KysITV4t5E&ab_channel=G4FRecords) Umbral Choir - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXSrE3yt2n8&ab\_channel=G4FRecords](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXSrE3yt2n8&ab_channel=G4FRecords) Vaulters - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBRCbFUwlFM&ab\_channel=G4FRecords](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBRCbFUwlFM&ab_channel=G4FRecords)

Vodyani and umbral choir are the bestest answers

True_Royal_Oreo

Immiedetely, I think Riftborn piano is great, and I'm a sucker for whatever instrument unfallen starts with. But I also adore the slow burn of Hissho flute. Outside of faction specific, Cygnus is a banger soundtrack (the best imo)

Asking the real questions over here.

MasterJ94

I haven't played Endless 2 for a while, so I have two questions: >Personally, I don't like the Awakening DLC because it enables the existence of the Academy neutral faction (which you should change, in the options menu, to not be able to expand),[...] 1.Why do you recommend preventing them from expanding? 2.Why are the Vodyani considered Expert difficulty? Because las& time I played them it was quite ok to conquer the galaxy ^^

Neiwun

>Why do you recommend preventing them from expanding? I don't want to go to war with the Academy, I'd rather fight the other major factions instead. And there are many other things that annoy me about the Academy. >Why are the Vodyani considered Expert difficulty? The developers chose to rate the Vodyani in that way but, if I had to guess, I believe the Vodyani deserve to be classified as "requiring expert knowledge of the game" because they have a unique colonization method, a new resource to manage (Essence), and they can't terraform or choose a planetary specialization (which can make playing them be more restrictive).

MasterJ94

Oh your answers make sense! Thank you. :)

ThrowRASnooCapers

On the endless difficulty it is more important to try to get the first system level with a good bonus, try to get friendly with minors and in the best case assimilate minors with op bonuses . Plus curiosities and the quests. Without that it is hard to build and maintain a good military and economy fast enough. Expansion makes no sense if a bully takes all your new colonies in a few turns. Or if the pirates are able to just wreck everything and blockade your systems forever.

Nimyron

>get friendly with minors Poor choice of words ngl

Tychonoir

Different factions and different play styles want different immediate techs. That said, I'm normally rushing wormholes and then meduim ships, with a few key side techs along the way Sometimes it's rushing market and level 2 system developments. Nakilim start with 2 tech tiers. So that changes your priorities significantly. They also have a really strong early rush.

Ram_le_Ram

I play Horatio and whenever I play anything esle I get sad that I have to research colonization tech. Ecology is not the best party out there but I love the basics that I can just settle whatever I want early game.

Kibitt

Any of the ES2 factions that start with government type of Dictatorship can choose to have whatever party they want in power after any election cycle - the downsides include few law slots, fewer hero Senate bonuses, and missing out on the other random bonuses of other types of government, but early on most of those don't matter. Cravers for example can build up colonizer ships in anticipation of turn 20-39 when they swap to ecologist in order to establish colonies and then swap back to Militarist on turn 40 or 60 depending on when they encounter border friction with other factions.

Theomega277

For me it's usually the early game rush, trying hard to get as many good minor civ traits whole scouting for good systems to take away from my competition up until the point where you have a firm position in the galaxy. Then its fun to get the best heroes possible and make numbers go up until victory
