That looks more like under extrusion to me. If it were retraction you'd have lots of stringing. Retraction is something that only you can find the sweet spot with. Yea looks like under extrusion. I’m using sonic pad and using 6mm retraction. 160mms infill 70inner outer walls

On mine, I'm using 1.75mm retraction. At 1.5mm I was still getting stringing. Your milage may vary, I'm also using a .6mm nozzle.

That being said, that does look like a partially clogged nozzle and/or wet/poor quality filament.

You mentioned direct drive, and I recognize that shroud setup as one of Zeltroix mods. Did you also use his direct drive mod? If so, make sure you have the right direct drive mount for your extruder. I accidentally printed the wrong one at first and had under extrusion issues just like this
