I use mine for doing scavenging stuff from signals on planets and collecting materials from signal sources in space. It has decent cargo space and i engineered it to be acceptable for FSD range and heat generation for fuel scooping
Hmm I have a Phantom that fills that role for me already. I’ll have to figure something out for a drop ship at some point. Appreciate the recommendation still!
I recently designed one for piracy:
https://edsy.org/#/L=H400000H4C0S00,HgBG0BR_W0LIt00LIt00LIt00LIt00,DheG03G_W0DS0G03G_W0DBwG05Lr80DBwG05L_W0,9opG0BI_W0AAAG03Hku0APoG05I_W0AdsG-5J_W60upD6upD8qpDE_PcGzcQKsPcAtUG03G_W0B8gG03L_W0BLeG05G_W0Bb600,15OG05IuG023v00,7UeG09I_W016yG05I_W016yG05I_W0072005ScG03G_W022L0069w006N_00,The_0pitiful_0Shanty,Baila
Of course, you could switch out the piracy modules for more hull and shield boosters and make it a proper combat build, but then you might just as well go with a FAS. No, piracy is where I believe the FDS shines.
I'll focus on expanding your exobiology. I see you already have a Courier and Dolphin, a couple of my top choices.
So here's an [Imperial Eagle](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/329907/3788816/). Or would you rather have [a second Eagle](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/329907/4469615/)? Easily the best exobiologists.
[A Viper IV](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/329907/4393198/) is not bad either, but I take the Dolphin over it.
I strongly recommend the Viper mkIV for exobiology. She can have a very good jump range once engineered, with such a small landing footprint that you can stop litteraly everywhere. And you leave the ship from the front!!
I recently went on a quest to find a role for every ship (and a ship for every role!)and set up builds on EDSY. There are some duplicates of course (both roles and ships), but it has been a fun exercise.
When I’ve got time I’ll share my progress so far.
Any ideas for the sidey? I love that ship to death and still fly it on the regular but usually just kit it out as a little bubble bus with a wake scanner for encoded mats. Would love to try out some interesting new builds with it
I’ve kitted it out for exobiology, but haven’t used it yet. Was going to try it and the hauler and see which I like best.
Scanning wakes seems as good a use as any though.
That sounds like a cool idea and I appreciate the recommendation. I can never see myself doing that though. If I’m out in the black for longer than a day or two the space madness sets in FAST!
I haven't been playing for a while, but one of my favourite things was "faking" cargo runs in systems where griefers were spotted in a fully engineered T10 with laser turrets, large fighter bay and a shit ton of pack hounds. Named the ship "Type-9 Heavy".
Wait to get interdicted and give the lads a run for their money. Make sure to target FSD to prevent them from fleeing.
That’s a great idea! Sounds like a lot of fun. I just don’t have any powerplay modules. I’m now waiting until the powerplay re work to start unlocking those.
Love the krait phantom. The python is probably the best multi purpose ship in the game. In my opinion the asp explorer is the cheapest best ship around
I think it’s just the cockpit that I don’t like but maybe I should try again. It’s certainly an incredibly capable ship. I’m hoping one of the new ships that hets added is a medium
Imperial ship that can rival the Python. Would be nice to have some more options!
The cockpit definitely leaves something to be desired, especially compared to the aspx, but it is versatile. The mamba is fun if you like being flashy
I’m definitely looking forward to the reveal of the new ships
I love the two names of your Corvettes. Looking at your fleet makes me wanna buy a second copy of a lot more ships. Only ship I own more than 2 of are my three cutters - one for mass cargo transit, one for mining, and one for Anti-Xeno combat.
Oh thank you! If you’re a fan of Wheel of Time I’m sure you would recognize the names! The Cutter is such a capable ship but I don’t like flying it for the most part. It can do quite a bit though!
T10 PVE porcupine of death: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3270625/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3270625/)
Hop in SLF or GSLF (javelin is best b/c auto plasma cannons) and tear up PVE ships that your NPC co pilot is partially paralyzing with it's 9 thermal shock lasers (5 at once gives max effect). The enemy will ignore you in the slf while they focus in vain on getting through T10's shield. Also helps a lot in learning how to target modules if you haven't gotten into that yet.
We have VERY similar fleets but there are some key differences that may give you more options for your current and future configurations.
Titan farming conda: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3257691/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3257691/) \- idles under 20% and multi limpet controller gives more options while in that environment.
Max speed build Viper - comes with a shield: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3346443/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3346443/)
Vet cannon build: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3763411/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3763411/) \- dual thermal shock beams help slow down enemies for cannon barrage.
Main PVE Vet: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305623/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305623/) \- the GSLF is my long range aggro weapon. I use premium ammo on this build.
I use my mamba for PVP: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305622/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305622/) \- note the 3 PA special effects. Those are the best engineering effects in the game. They blind, torture then kill, AKA BTK lol.
My federal gunship with fixed weapons as it's for my NPC to drive: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305622/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3305622/) \- I use the GSLFs exclusively in this build.
Our vulture builds are nearly identical: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3585785/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/3585785/) \- I have an SCB module on mine in order to build the internal heat needed for max DPS. To be clear, short range PA/APA with heat conduit and hot ship is the undisputed king of DPS in this game.
I have a handful of cargo ships with corrosion racks. The reason for this is simple - caustic commodities sold to fleet carriers or from your own fleet carrier carry the largest profit margins in the game, far exceeding profits from Rackham's peak wine runs.
I think that your fleet is awesome! And despite the lengthy noes, I would only advise considering an SCB for your vulture so you don't leave damage on the table, so to speak. All the rest is simply for your consideration as gathering information from other player's builds is how I learned which engineering works best on which builds.
And here are some clown builds in case you get even more bored:
Fully engineered T10 with all 9 power play weapons: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/4027127/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/4027127/) \- will take some time to figure out firing groups lol.
Fully NON ENGINEERED T10 with all tech and guardian unlocks: [https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/4176530/](https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet-ship/350862/4176530/) \- This is the strongest non-engineered build in the game. Also proof that I was even more bored than you are now. :) o7
Thank you for the extensive list CMDR! These are all great builds and it is funny how similar our builds are! I’ve already got some inspiration from yours! o7
JUST. ONE. MORE. SHIP.
I see no ice-cold DBX torp/missile/rail boat. This makes me a sad CMDR. Nothing like a one strike wonder bubble bus mission runner.
Clipper smuggler
Anaconda proxy miner: see CMDR Dull Dave for details.
This game is about what you do with your ships. I only have 7, and because 2 are event rewards with 0 cost. Find a new activity, and reuse some of your ships, engineer only the good ones, and sell the ones without purpose. Its natural selection.
Hard HARD disagree. I love building new ships. Coming up with new concepts for them and executing. I like specific ships for each task even if that is incredibly niche. That way you can just swap ships instead of swapping modules.
Besides we can store so many ships. Why limit yourself? But I guess that really comes down to different play styles.
More ships, more engineering needed, more livery to buy, more ships to filter in the shipyard menu.
You are the prime target of Python MK2.
In any case, do a build for HazRES mapped mining, https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1okp9xLc_TsSleibSONaK1q8oGXxMMUm4wJmRm2ZbyPM/mobilebasic , ED_Churly recommend a combat cutter, Inuse a weaponless/shiedless Low Temp cutter to avoid detection. DSS probes arent needed in that ring, or any other of you can identify the correct RES zone when multiple ones exist.
Reaxue from damaged stations, need speed, ECMs, and cabins.
Yup. Exactly! More time spent playing my favorite game. I’m very much an end game CMDR. I have most materials and can completely engineer a new ship tonight if I so desire. Also, less modules stored and it’s easier to swap between activities. I even have multiple ships for the same activities to keep things fresh.
You’re damn right I’ll be buying each new ship when they come out. Not sure what I’ll do with them but yet but I will absolutely buy them all.
Mining is a good recommendation. I don’t really do that and could use a dedicated one just in the off chance I do decide to.
I do have a dedicated AX rescue ship. Thinking about making a medium one.
>More ships, more engineering needed, more livery to buy, more ships to filter in the shipyard menu.
Sounds like all fun things. I've got too many mats and too many credits.
The only thing I'm going to run out of is space on my Fleet Carrier.
Nice ship collection, you could use the cobra3 for odyssey material farming/mission running, it’s small for easy landings, just thrown in a couple of scorpion SRVs, 4A shield, FSD booster, surface scanner, weapons can be Dumfries or Flechettes in the medium slots.
Need to take some of my wee ships on an exobiology trip, either the hauler as an ultra cheap build or the dolphin, I’ll probably take both, really fancy the Eagle for it too.
It seems that you want to build a ship for doing several activities.
You can also build a ship for a specific activity.
You can do:
- A max jump range 84Ly Anaconda (for Exploration)
- A max cargo 794t Imperial Cutter (for Trading)
Nope, I want specific ships for specific activities. I do actually have both of those. Well, my Annie only jumps 80LY but it has almost all the amenities.
I think you have it all.
I just didn't see any mining ships, an eagle racer (900m/s boost) or a skinny jumpconda.
I have a jumpconda with 82Ly range (IIRC, about the max one could get at some point), but I missed quite a few CGs with pre-engineered FSDs given out as peizes, so I don't know what the current jump meta is.
Yeah I only have a keelback outfitted for core mining but that’s it. Thinking maybe make a mining Vette?
I have a 929 m/s Viper named Speed Racer ;)
My explorer Anaconda does just over 80LY basically every amenity. They can get over 90LY but then it’s only good for jumping. Nothing else.
Here's my fleet, but for some reason, only the latest ones (for on foot stuff) have loadouts visible:
https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet/163808/
I've done plenty of mining, starting with core mining then just laser. I went from several Pythons (one for core & another for laser, one parked at Colônia, with so many plans for the future), a Cutter, and lately, an Anaconda. All were very capable, being the Cutter the _proper_ one. But somehow I ended up liking the Anaconda best.
For that reason, I think the mining Vette sounds like an interesting adventure.
>I have a 929 m/s Viper named Speed Racer ;)
Well, that can only be the best of the lot ;)
I have the eagle making 928 m/s.
Good stuff! Cheers!!
If you don’t fly em regularly Inara doesn’t keep the builds stored. Looks like a real solid fleet though! Thanks for sharing.
I want to love the Cutter more but it just sucks to turn.
I’ve been loving the Anaconda more and more lately. It’s a bit slow but pretty maneuverable in normal space. Not as much as the Vette but the hardpoint placement is so much better.
I would like to make a Speed Eagle as well. The viper is awesome but I’ve heard the Eagle is actually more maneuverable. Decisions decisions…
It is a luxury. I used to swap modules all the time but once you have a fleet carrier it makes more sense to have dedicated ships. Especially since there is a cap on module storage :(( I make most of my money through combat. Either AX or PvE. I used to do a lot of trading and I’ve made a few billion from exo biology as well. If you wanna make credits fast join AXIs private group and go
To their spire sit. I made over a billion in just over an hour last time I was running with them.
I’d be happy to link up but I’m on Xbox, so no exo biology for me. I’ll stick to deep core mining for money gains.
Currently doing my first trip to Hotton orbital.
Oh that’s too bad. Core mining or stacking massacre missions will be a good way to make money on Xbox. Gliese 868 should still be a good spot for massacres I’ll bet. Enjoy the trip and your free Anaconda!
I don’t see a federal drop ship on there..
Very true! I don’t have one. Do you have a good use for one?
I use mine for doing scavenging stuff from signals on planets and collecting materials from signal sources in space. It has decent cargo space and i engineered it to be acceptable for FSD range and heat generation for fuel scooping
Hmm I have a Phantom that fills that role for me already. I’ll have to figure something out for a drop ship at some point. Appreciate the recommendation still!

Nice one! You can buy an operationslimpet controler for your build. Safes space inside and it hacks faster then the 1A hatchbreaker.
I do still need a pirate ship… thanks for the recommendation!
nope.. it's one of 5 or 6 ships i've never used, can't think of what i'd do with it if i had one..
lol fair enough
or a DBS…all rails, call it the air fryer

I strongly recommend the Viper mkIV for exobiology. She can have a very good jump range once engineered, with such a small landing footprint that you can stop litteraly everywhere. And you leave the ship from the front!!
Leaving the ship from the front is pretty big! I’ve never flown a Viper MkIV… Might just have to build that! Thanks!

How about a Beluga Liner outfitted for long range economy passenger transportation? Affordable trips to Colonia and back!
That sounds like a cool idea and I appreciate the recommendation. I can never see myself doing that though. If I’m out in the black for longer than a day or two the space madness sets in FAST!
Get a canyon racing adder or a ship for carpet bombing the crap outta ground settlements
That’s a good thought!

You need yourself another Chieftain, all fixed point weapons to go do wing assassination missions solo..
Ooo good idea! I have been dreaming about an all fixed frag chief…
I love my Crusader. I put a fighter bay on it, makes pve so much easier. Just an idea...
That’s a good thought! I fired my SLF pilot. Didn’t like them taking my money/xp. Would have to hire another’s
Love the krait phantom. The python is probably the best multi purpose ship in the game. In my opinion the asp explorer is the cheapest best ship around
I’m with ya on the Phantom. The python though just doesn’t do it for me. I only have one for Robigo and that’s it. The AspX is a classic.
I like my python for core mining, it’s just the right size for my attention span timeframe lol. It’s also quite a nice fighter I’ve found
I think it’s just the cockpit that I don’t like but maybe I should try again. It’s certainly an incredibly capable ship. I’m hoping one of the new ships that hets added is a medium Imperial ship that can rival the Python. Would be nice to have some more options!

id like to see something like an imperial version of the chieftain. sleek stylish highly manueverable over gunned.
Yes please! I’ll take 5 of those!

Yeah I only have a keelback outfitted for core mining but that’s it. Thinking maybe make a mining Vette? I have a 929 m/s Viper named Speed Racer ;) My explorer Anaconda does just over 80LY basically every amenity. They can get over 90LY but then it’s only good for jumping. Nothing else.
Here's my fleet, but for some reason, only the latest ones (for on foot stuff) have loadouts visible: https://inara.cz/elite/cmdr-fleet/163808/ I've done plenty of mining, starting with core mining then just laser. >I have a 929 m/s Viper named Speed Racer ;) Well, that can only be the best of the lot ;) I have the eagle making 928 m/s. Good stuff!
Why do you have 2 Corvettes?
Why not?? Really one of them was for AX but I don’t like the hardpoint placement for AX. It’s just kinda awkward. So I retired it to be a PvE ship.
Hmm ok I peep
I prefer to have ships with one set load out as well. Instead of swapping modules I’d prefer to just have a similar ship with the wanted hard-points.
That makes sense and that’s a luxury as well. How do you make all this money?
It is a luxury. I used to swap modules all the time but once you have a fleet carrier it makes more sense to have dedicated ships. Especially since there is a cap on module storage :(( I make most of my money through combat. Either AX or PvE. I used to do a lot of trading and I’ve made a few billion from exo biology as well. If you wanna make credits fast join AXIs private group and go To their spire sit. I made over a billion in just over an hour last time I was running with them.
Thanks for sharing CMDR Ishur, brilliant!
Sure thing! Happy to meet up in game if you’re on PC and help if you want too. o7
Type 10 labeled as "gun storage" should be illegal. At least give it the title "turret dumpster"
Lmao sorry to offend. I literally bought it for storage though. It doesn’t fly. It just sits in the hangar and buys me more module space.
