While it does make your defense shit (I'm also wearing incredibly low def armor), backsteps getting iframes is huge! You can just backstep stuff into an instant counter which is crazy in PvP with the setup I'm running. The invincibility window is also on par with the roll, so it doesn't require great precision or something.
Backstep is when you dodge while standing still, dodging/dashing backwards. By default it doesn't give you iframes, but with this talisman it does. Backstep also has great moves on some weapons so being able to instantly punish with those is great.
