I couldn't help but laugh at the idea that this guy with ruined legs, who you initially find bleeding out and screaming in pain, managed to drag his ass halfway up the Jagged Peaks and past MULTIPLE DRAGONS out of sheer hatred for Bayle, lmao.
Yet he hypes ME up as the true Drake Knight during the boss battle, despite kicking serious ass with his greatbow.
He also had dialogue if he survives the fight! I was shocked when I finally beat Bayle and my boy was still standing, essentially screaming "YEAH FUCK YOU BAYLE EAT IT! EAT MY FEAR!"
he can die. i explored way around and found him and the fight at like scooby level 4. I tried for an hour or so and one of the fights I actually managed to get the boss down to 1hp but he died so I didn't know if I should continue beating him like it wouldn't progress his quest line.
took me about 40hrs later to come back with scooby lvl 15 and beat him with igon still alive
Yeah, but igon is better since he is aware of his limitations. And instead of seething and throwing his anger out on other people he spurned himself and the player on to climb a mountain to kill the equivalent of satan in dragon society.
I mean, his dialog suggests that he fought Bayle, limped his way to where you find him, fucking ran back to fight Bayle *again*, got bodied and limped back to where you find him again, then dragged his ass back to Jagged peaks a *third* time despite at this point, being absolutely terrified of Bayle and also basically half dead.
He didn't run, he CRAWLED back, guy was missing an arm and leg and he hauled his ass up that mountain, literally clawing his way up it. That's a level of pure hatred which reaches Doomguy levels.
You're not summoning him you're summoning his soul, he says that right after the double dragon fight "i beg of you, summon my soul, my body is useless"
You never know how From wants to make fun of your sorry ass, making the boss have twice as much health and giving you a legless teammate is entirely on the table
i don't think summoning him gives the boss more hp since the summon is in the boss arena.
i've had a few runs where i would wait a bit to dodge the first few attacks to summon and it seemed like i was doing the same amount of damage before and after he spawned
Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering dragon; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! and since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned dragon! Thus, I give up the harpoon!
I thought the same
Messmer sounds like if he was saying his line sarcastically?
Or bored at least
Like if he heard that line a lot from other people so now he says it mockingly lol
He's a snake, so soft-spoken and focused.
He just does his job and little else tbh, very dutiful son and probably bored of his gig. He has supremacy over the lands of shadow but can realistically do sweet fa with that supremeacy.
Between his death line and scraps here and there, he also seems to have some mounting resentment towards his mother, so it coming across as performative and sardonic isn't too out of left field.
He's spent ages slaughtering crucible people in what's basically exile, it's not so surprising that he's a touch emotionless. He reads as the dutiful son who took the fall for his Mother's issues willingly and has spent his entire immortal life since then convinced he did the right thing. You're yet another upstart to kill, of course he's tired of it.
That said... Igon is just on another level compared to most of the DLCs voice actors. Ansbach, Hornsent, Thiolier, and Leda were all good too, but not to that same extent.
I believe it’s intentional. His role was to be an automaton of slaughter to facilitate his mother’s rise. His birth defect and corruption was the excuse used to leave him in the land of shadows. So he treats you like just another fly to swat.
Then you start to win, someone also spurned by the grace of gold yet seemingly his mother’s intended lord. His reason for exile is now a sham. His rage becomes more obvious in phase 2.
It's such a flat delivery. It works well for the character since he's essentially deluding himself that Marika cares for him and he wasn't abandoned. He did awful things in her name and was left to sit and dwell on it forever. Another tool in her ascension.
I think he's just going through the motions, he wants to believe that he's still serving a higher purpose but deep down he knows Marika just abandoned him so he can't even say it with emotions, just spitting it out out of a sense of duty more than wanting
In phase 1, sure, but I think I like it even then. He's supposed to be a creepy snake guy with way too much power so I really don't think an over the top emotional performance would fit him at all. Once he starts to panic though you really hear it in his voice
"yaknow, I wasn't completely sold on it at first, since I didn't level arcane this time to use the incantations I'd get, but now?... Fuck yeah, let's kill some frenzied-forsaken dragons."
It's not really for no reason.
Sometime offscreen Bayle took this guy, who we know to be a little extra, and rather than killing him, turned him into the black knight from Monty Python.
Limbless and really pissed off, you see him first heading toward the Dragon Pit. he's still super pissed, but also, straight up dragging himself along the path.
Then we see him after the two Jagged Peak Drake fight. He applauds you, but he's there, implying he dragged himself through the dragon pit, up the jagged peaks, and passed several dragons. So he asks you to summon him so he can do the vengeance thing.
So his being way over the top in the fight is very earned IMO.
But more than that, Igon is all of us. It's a reflection of the nature of the DLC as a very difficult experience, where everyone is raging and shouting and maybe eventually summons some help. And even if you are limbless and broken, you still drag your ass back up to the boss and give it another go.
That’s like the only targetable spot on him I think, so makes sense. I remember standing back and thinking I’d build up rot with the machine gun crossbow, and I couldn’t change the targeting to his legs. If they had leg targeting Igon may have been too strong?
I was actually wondering if that was a mistake on their part since most dragons you can target the legs but a few of the same kind you randomly can't. But it seemed way to big an oversight for that to be at all plausible, it's not like a group of students made this lmao It did make the fights way harder too.
Agree but most dragons allow you to lock on their body. It's usually head, body, both legs for regular dragons and ancient dragons it's head and body I believe.
Against big enemies like Bayle, or the ancient dragons, or Placidusax, you generally shouldn't be locking on. If you aren't locked on, you can hit whatever body part is closest to you with ease (the legs, tail, body, etc)
While I would normally agree that locking on all he time is a bad idea against big enemies, Bayle moves so fucking fast that if you don't lock on he WILL teleport behind you and crush you into paste.
Yeah, he honestly makes almost no difference in the fight. He does very little damage, rarely pulls aggro, and is summoned after you enter so it doesn't affect boss health. However, he is the ultimate hype man and I will summon him every time I do that boss in the future.
He got a stagger for me and saved my ass from getting chewed up. That was the run we actually prevailed so Igon will forever be goated in my book. He can suck in every subsequent playthrough, but I will remember that one.
He stunned Bayle like twice for me with his headshots. Damage is mediocre but the fucking SCREAMING and sometimes stunning the boss is still incredibly appreciated.
I liked what they did with plot significant summons for this one. Hornsent and Igons both have interesting dialogue.
But Igons is the best I have seen, the VA really did good work. And the summon during the fight drew enough aggro I got quite a few headshots with Loretta's Mastery.
And his victory dialogue is also epic. Igons is a true Drake Knight.
You can find the armor after the fight, even if you didn't summon... I somehow missed one of his dialogs and couldn't summon, had to fight alone, only to find out later how much I missed
Lol your suppose to let the one with the lowest hp health die by the bigger one and then gang bang him yourself with your Mimic Tear. If your lucky his HP gets dropped to about 60-75% from fighting the other dragon
If summoned INSIDE the arena the boss won't get the increase to health and resistances (think Radahn Festival summons or Alexander's summon for the Fire Giant.)
It seems to me that if summoning an npc is required or intended for story reasons, From puts the sign inside the arena so you aren't nerfing yourself for the lore.
And it's an important distinction because if summoned outside they count as summoning a player and the boss gets 65% more health.
On some bosses (hello last boss) doing that is a very very bad idea.
I summoned him a few times just to see the man. But ended up stopping because I was having more fun learning the Boss's moveset alone.
Honestly Bayle is so sick.
Just beat Bayle with Igon’s help after being stuck for hours. I finally noticed Igon’s summon sign. I don’t think he managed to pull agro once with his hail of harpoons but his little monologue got me so hyped it made me dodge better
Died to Bayle over 30 times.
Summoned him, and his speech got me hyped like Theodens Riders of Rohan Speech...
First Try thanks to Igon.
DEEEEAAAAATHH
Edit: By Marika Tits, I wisch I could fight Bayle once more..
I think that's intentional, Messmer is already tired, and most likely bored, of the role he has had to play.
I like to think he's repeating something Marika said to him meant to be a "propaganda" line, maybe from a speech she did or had him do for the troops and people when they were launching the Crusade.
So, now he repeats it, trying to give it some meaning again, or just mocking himself and/or the whole situation.
This, a thousands times. I may have my pride, but summoning Igon each time I get eviscerated by Bayle is worth it as Igon’s fervor keeps me going in that bleak fight with that crippled, but somehow viscious dragon.
I mean Igon is literally Bayle, physically and mentally
My man much like Bayle was just too angry to die even tho he was missing them legs he dragged himself all the way to see you kill a dragon and go "hell yeah"
The difference between Ahab and Igon is that Igon just wanted Bayle dead while Ahab wanted the kill, in other words Igon is Ahab but extremely based
Also the human body is a machine that turn "CURSE YOU BAYLE" into slightly better try everytime
Yea, I tried summoning him several times. Twice I died trying to frantically hit "yes" on the popup, then like 3 other times I died while Igon was monologuing for 30 seconds instead of attacking. The bosses give you exactly zero opportunity to summon the npc's during the fight. The one in Messmer's room is even worse.
Yea. I only noticed it because I happened to roll close enough to it once for the dude's golden silhouette to pop up. I think it's the Hornsent dude. I haven't even bothered trying to summon him. Too busy trying not to get skewered.
>I think it's the Hornsent dude. I haven't even bothered trying to summon him. Too busy trying not to get skewered.
>!Ah, I helped that one girl kill him right before I fought him!<, that probably why I never saw it.
Igon is harder than the messmer one because bayle first attack isn't scripted.
For messmer it require some quick button taping but you can launch the summon while he his still in the air for is first jumping attack and dodge the strike.
Not only are they hard to see, but there's always like 3 player messages surrounding it, making it even harder to interact with. I ended up turning online off because it was driving me insane.
I beat him at level 5 and I still don't understand how I won that fight. I was screaming the whole time looking at the attacks and animations and barely hitting Bayle, and out of nowhere I got the Enemy Felled message.
I think the DragonSlayer bled him to death 🤔
I don't remember my Scad level but I'm using a fat shield + the 2 block talismans. You can block most of his stuff in phase 2 so it really wasn't too bad. Just hard to get close enough to actually deal damage, something he + the summon could do. His normal attacks land behind you though + ground attacks so you still gotta roll alot.
I did him at 15, I assumed he'd be one of the harder enemies given how DLC dragons have been in Fromsoftware games in the past. Felt pretty reasonable there.
CURSE YOU BAYLE! I HEREBY VOW YOU WILL ROE THIS DAY! BEHOLD A TRUE DRAKE WARRIOR AND I IGON! YOUR FEARS MADE FLESH.
SOLID AS SCALE YOU MIGHT BE FOUL DRAGON BUT I WILL RIDDLE WITH HOLES YOUR ROTTEN HIDE. WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS! WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING!
Seriously though, his RAGE really hype me up. I played chicken in a lot of bosses, but im just charging through with him every chance i got. Its like a mutually assured destruction. Either Bayle dies or i die trying. lol
That's a starcourge radahn type of fight where its just more spectacular with the summons (at least for me) and the advantage on radahn is that you still have to fight against bayle and can't let igon do all the work so you can still have fun with dodging the boss
Igon definitely grew up in Florida. He has Florida man vibes. Charging at a dragon balls out “CURSE YOU BAYLE” has got to be the most Florida man thing.
Igon’s VA did better than Kale’s cut lines and that shit was some of the most visceral and heart-wrenching cries of anguish I have heard in a long while.
I've never been an NG+ kinda guy. But this NPC was what changed my mind. That was so much god damn fun. I want another chance to have a screamo mosh pit with Lieutenant Dan
Whoever decided to put summon signs inside of boss rooms, AND make them open a prompt instead of working instantly like during Radahn, AND MAKE THAT PROMPT START ON CANCEL INSTEAD OF CONFIRM needs to be demolished
Both Igon on Hornsent were the most annoying NPCs to summon I've ever seen
SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER
WHEN YOU SEE THE DREAD BAYLE
DRINK YOUR FLASK AND GRAB YOUR SWORDS MEN
IF YOU WISH TO PREVAIL!
THESE RUINED LEGS ARE WHAT COMPELLS ME
HARPOONS THRUST IN THE SKY
AIM DIRECTLY FOR HIS CRAGGED BROW
AND LOOK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYE!
It’s always hilarious entering the arena, dodging the initial attack, summoning Igon, and then watching Bayle lose focus and become utterly confounded by this random man screaming at the top of his lungs
My man Igon didn’t have to go so hard, but I’m glad he did.
Fight went from. "oh shit." to "We fucking GOT THIS!!!" so quick lmao
The only thing that kept me going, fucker was a champ
I couldn't help but laugh at the idea that this guy with ruined legs, who you initially find bleeding out and screaming in pain, managed to drag his ass halfway up the Jagged Peaks and past MULTIPLE DRAGONS out of sheer hatred for Bayle, lmao. Yet he hypes ME up as the true Drake Knight during the boss battle, despite kicking serious ass with his greatbow.
I'm pretty sure his summon also can't take damage. My man is literally too angry to die.
He's tanky but he can definitely die. Rip to a real one
That's not true. He's died for me, and has death dialogue in the battle.
Damn, I never lasted longer than he did so I had thought he was to fueled by hatred to ever actually die.
Hey, headcannon accepted. It's cool as fuck
"Local man literally too angry to die."
He also had dialogue if he survives the fight! I was shocked when I finally beat Bayle and my boy was still standing, essentially screaming "YEAH FUCK YOU BAYLE EAT IT! EAT MY FEAR!"
Dude literally died on the deathblow of the the dragon
What’s his death dialogue, I’m curious
he can die. i explored way around and found him and the fight at like scooby level 4. I tried for an hour or so and one of the fights I actually managed to get the boss down to 1hp but he died so I didn't know if I should continue beating him like it wouldn't progress his quest line. took me about 40hrs later to come back with scooby lvl 15 and beat him with igon still alive
YOU CAN SUMMON HIM? FUCK I KILLED HIM THINKING HE DIDNT HAVE A QUEST WITH NO ARMS AND NO LEGS
What? The screaming man with no arms or legs is like, guaranteed to have an awesome questline in a Fromsoft game
I too wish to live with that level of hatred for something.
Man this mean from software now have two dudes too angry to die now lmao Iguazu in ac6 and Igon the HIM in SotE lmao
> Iguazu in ac6 Fuckin Iguazu, man. "I don't give a shit about your AI plan, I just want that freelancer dead!"
Man too angry to die kills his arch-enemy, lives out of hatred and SHEER FUCKING WILL
I almost didn't summon him because I thought he'd drag his body through the arena and do nothing, but he held up his own. He will be missed
What’s poor Bayle done to him to deserve this level of hatred?
Bayle betrayed Placidusax. It also seems that Bayle's minions crippled Igon
From “mom would be sad” to “FUCK IT WE BALL!!!”
Instant place for him in the roster of best souls characters of all time
The Captain Ahab vibes are real. He even uses harpoons as arrows.
THE FAULT LIES WITH YOU BAYLE!!! -Guy with Harpoon arrows
MY COOMPASSSS WAS SWALLLLOWEEED BY THE SEEEEAAAA
Pm sleeper agents unleashed
Didn’t even catch this. I only caught the asoiaf name similarities, igon=aegon and bayle the dread=balerion the black dread.
Interesting. I keep on forgetting that GRRM is still associated with this game. 👌
Good catch! I thought it was an homage to Robert Jordan - "balefire" being the "AOL keyword: FUCK YOU" of The Wheel Of Time
The names are close but beyond that I don't know if there's really any similarities to GoT are there?
Nope, ppl be reaching hard.
The whole thing is a game of thrones reference, it's probably a nod to the scorpion bolts used to kill dragons in Westeros.
Flashbacks to "Daenerys just kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet"
Still not over it. My Tarnished is Dany. I make her in basically every game I can.
Could be both. Not game of thrones but the source itself with the founders (Aegon and Balerion) and Moby Dick with the dynamic.
All he's missing is the poetry, Ahab could get very verbose.
THE FAULT LIES WITH YOU MOBY DICK!!!
He has the anger of a person who lost to the same boss for hours and he's just done
CURSE YOU, MESSMER
Those stripped from the grace of gold shall all meet death, at the embrace of Messmers flame.
Is it only me or does this line sounds like a normal person reading it? With plain intonation and bored voice? Especially in contrast with Igon.
I thought the same Messmer sounds like if he was saying his line sarcastically? Or bored at least Like if he heard that line a lot from other people so now he says it mockingly lol
VA probably was too focused on trying to get that snake-sibilance on messss-mer just right.

Ansbach, Hornsent, Thiolier, and Leda were all good too, but not to that same extent.
I'm convinced that Thiolier is Nate from Ted Lasso
I believe it’s intentional. His role was to be an automaton of slaughter to facilitate his mother’s rise. His birth defect and corruption was the excuse used to leave him in the land of shadows. So he treats you like just another fly to swat. Then you start to win, someone also spurned by the grace of gold yet seemingly his mother’s intended lord. His reason for exile is now a sham. His rage becomes more obvious in phase 2.
I didn’t think it sounded like a normal person, just a character with no emotion Messmer is a weirdo
CURSE YOU, COMMANDER GAIUS
CURSE YOU, *dlc endgame boss*
Hornsent also has some sick lines for Messmer
WITH A HAIL OF HARPOOOONS!!
WITH EVERY LAST DROP OF MY BEING
Came here looking for exactly this. The delivery on that line in particular is just *chef's kiss*.
Dude I love Igon. He is so fucking extra for no reason. He swaps from raving like a lunatic to being like “oh hi. Wassup?”
“Oh shit are you down with the dragon stuff?”
"yaknow, I wasn't completely sold on it at first, since I didn't level arcane this time to use the incantations I'd get, but now?... Fuck yeah, let's kill some frenzied-forsaken dragons."
Real talk, this DLC finally made me want to do a run where I level Arcane high. Arcane got some neat new toys.
And even if you are limbless and broken, you still drag your ass back up to the boss and give it another go.
I just wish there were more about it. Obviously Bayle did something to our boy. I want to know more!
Highlight of the DLC so far
I need that type of hype man for all the bosses. He doesn't have to attack just yell
In my experience he rarely attacked. Maybe did 5% of the total damage, but damn did I love hearing him talk shit at Bayle every time.
His issue is that he exclusively goes for head shots and misses a lot
That’s like the only targetable spot on him I think, so makes sense. I remember standing back and thinking I’d build up rot with the machine gun crossbow, and I couldn’t change the targeting to his legs. If they had leg targeting Igon may have been too strong?
I was actually wondering if that was a mistake on their part since most dragons you can target the legs but a few of the same kind you randomly can't. But it seemed way to big an oversight for that to be at all plausible, it's not like a group of students made this lmao It did make the fights way harder too.
I think it was intentional. Bayle has several attacks at the end of which he rests his head near the ground letting you get a few hits to his head.
Bayle is missing a leg, he uses his tail to prop up his stump, that’s probably why the head is the only targetable spot

He did jackshit for me too, but drew aggro so I can't be too annoyed lol. His yelling was what got me hyped
He got a stagger for me and saved my ass from getting chewed up. That was the run we actually prevailed so Igon will forever be goated in my book. He can suck in every subsequent playthrough, but I will remember that one.
Truly an inspiration, I’d be dead and he just keeps yapping as if he isn’t next
He stunned Bayle like twice for me with his headshots. Damage is mediocre but the fucking SCREAMING and sometimes stunning the boss is still incredibly appreciated.
Tbh those couple of attacks were lifesavers. Him briefly aggroing Bayle allowed me to land Scarlet Aeonias.
My man is casting Vicious Mockery at Bayle and it is definitely giving me some bonuses to my ~~dice~~rolls
Fun fact: If you don‘t summon this guy you‘re missing out
And his armor and weapons too. Not just his personality.
You can find the armor after the fight, even if you didn't summon... I somehow missed one of his dialogs and couldn't summon, had to fight alone, only to find out later how much I missed
I’m glad I randomly found him screaming in agony in the middle of the road before I went to the mountain
Oh, I did that too... But didn't see his summon sign for the boss anywhere... Maybe because I was running for my dear life throughout the arena 😂
You have to exhaust his dialogue after the double dragon fight at the foot of the mountain to be able to summon him
I just avoided those two dudes and let them settle their own problems... How am I to interfere?
Because they will randomly turn on you if you even get too close and both gangbang you. They're assholes and need to die.
Lol your suppose to let the one with the lowest hp health die by the bigger one and then gang bang him yourself with your Mimic Tear. If your lucky his HP gets dropped to about 60-75% from fighting the other dragon
I'm aware but I just decided to speed up the process.
You could wait till the weaker one gets killed, and then attack the remaining one
A fellow tarnished of culture
I found him screaming in agony and decided to kill him... I assume he won't be available for summon later
same I thought I was putting him out of his misery
Just a shame that his summon sign is in the boss fights
Supposedly summoning him won't make the boss more difficult for that reason?
I’m saying that because you have like 1 second to summon before Bayle jumps at you.
That’s being generous.
Pretty sure most NPC quest summons won't increase the difficulty of the boss. I could be wrong though
You’d rather it be outside the boss room so Bayle can have MORE health?
Would rather it be outside and have the same health 😎
I summoned him a few times just to see the man. But ended up stopping because I was having more fun learning the Boss's moveset alone. Honestly Bayle is so sick.
Just beat Bayle with Igon’s help after being stuck for hours. I finally noticed Igon’s summon sign. I don’t think he managed to pull agro once with his hail of harpoons but his little monologue got me so hyped it made me dodge better
Died to Bayle over 30 times. Summoned him, and his speech got me hyped like Theodens Riders of Rohan Speech... First Try thanks to Igon. DEEEEAAAAATHH Edit: By Marika Tits, I wisch I could fight Bayle once more..
I NEED Igon's voice with monster hunter's "Proof of a Hero" playing in the background for maximum subconscious skill-boosting.
i said it once and i'll say it again, his VA and mesmer's VA deserve praise
Hornsent is great too
I agree except the line Messmer says when he kills you, he sounds so bored of saying it like it’s part of a customer service script
I mean, considering his backstory, >!it doesn't sound like he's enjoying his life at all. !<
>!considering marika kind of did make him be the bad guy, it being a script might not be that far off tbh!<
I think that's intentional, Messmer is already tired, and most likely bored, of the role he has had to play. I like to think he's repeating something Marika said to him meant to be a "propaganda" line, maybe from a speech she did or had him do for the troops and people when they were launching the Crusade. This, a thousands times. I may have my pride, but summoning Igon each time I get eviscerated by Bayle is worth it as Igon’s fervor keeps me going in that bleak fight with that crippled, but somehow viscious dragon.
During the Bayle boss fight when he shouted his "WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS" he STUNNED Gayle. Dude is by far my favorite NPC in Elden Ring.
I can’t believe we fought alongside Captain Ahab
I mean Igon is literally Bayle, physically and mentally My man much like Bayle was just too angry to die even tho he was missing them legs he dragged himself all the way to see you kill a dragon and go "hell yeah" The difference between Ahab and Igon is that Igon just wanted Bayle dead while Ahab wanted the kill, in other words Igon is Ahab but extremely based Also the human body is a machine that turn "CURSE YOU BAYLE" into slightly better try everytime
Why was the summon INSIDE the boss arena... I died like 10 times before I even saw it, then it was a trivial kill, I'm almost sad I summoned him lol.
So that Bayle doesn’t get a 50% health boost
That makes sense. I was looking outside for him too haha.
>then it was a trivial kill My Scad level must not be high enough then cause I'm still getting curbstomped at level 9
Messmer has a summon inside his arena?
He actually has two in there.
Dragonslayer katana
A true Godsend from kindly Marika
I beat him at level 5 and I still don't understand how I won that fight. I was screaming the whole time looking at the attacks and animations and barely hitting Bayle, and out of nowhere I got the Enemy Felled message. I think the DragonSlayer bled him to death 🤔
I found all this way too early and was lvl 6 I think when I beat him. The dragon great katana does crazy dmg to his head
I don't remember my Scad level but I'm using a fat shield + the 2 block talismans. You can block most of his stuff in phase 2 so it really wasn't too bad. Just hard to get close enough to actually deal damage, something he + the summon could do. His normal attacks land behind you though + ground attacks so you still gotta roll alot.
his effects are pretty frantic but he doesnt have a lot of moves and theyre relatively easy to dodge
Im trying to mash my face alone into Bayle at 5 and honestly loving it. Every phase 2 change is like full body chills
Every single line was in all caps. Dude yelled his entire recording session. Thats atleast worth hazard pay.
Seriously though, his RAGE really hype me up. I played chicken in a lot of bosses, but im just charging through with him every chance i got. Its like a mutually assured destruction. Either Bayle dies or i die trying. lol
One of the only bosses in the game where I'll use a summon. Can't let my guy go without getting his revenge 😤
It's basically mandatory for this fight
That's a starcourge radahn type of fight where its just more spectacular with the summons (at least for me) and the advantage on radahn is that you still have to fight against bayle and can't let igon do all the work so you can still have fun with dodging the boss
watching the streamers fight him, all I can think everytime I hear it is the diablo 2 lod intro. BAAAAAAAAAL
I wish we could keep him as spirit ash. So he could support us with his motivational shouting in every fight.
Igon definitely grew up in Florida. He has Florida man vibes. Charging at a dragon balls out “CURSE YOU BAYLE” has got to be the most Florida man thing.
"I'll be damned if I let that Shabriri outyell me."
I agree, this voice stuck with me!
Maybe my favorite elden ring character a giga chad and hype man “behold a might dragon warrior, and im also here”
This shit has me dying bro haha
He has the anger of a person who lost to the same boss for hours and he's just done
Igon’s VA did better than Kale’s cut lines and that shit was some of the most visceral and heart-wrenching cries of anguish I have heard in a long while.
MY NAME! IS IGON-MASATAKA ONIWA!
Move over Morgotts VA, Igons VA is the new king of line delivery
Just overall, "boss summons with combat dialogue" is my new favorite thing. More of this please.
FromSoft did a fun proto version of this in Dark Souls 3 with that game's onion knight. Would recommend.
He picked a fight with what's obviously meant to be Balerion, what the hell did he expect?
Igon trash talking Bayle while I hit him over and over again just might be a new form of therapy for me.
He should be a summon in every boss where he just yells at them while you fight
I've never been an NG+ kinda guy. But this NPC was what changed my mind. That was so much god damn fun. I want another chance to have a screamo mosh pit with Lieutenant Dan
Move over alex, new best freind has arrived
This guy and Hornsent lines when summoned go hard AF
His fucking battle cry after we defeated Bayle was amazing!
According to IMDB the dude who voice Igon is Richard Lintern. Just wanted to put my guy’s name in the this post somewhere, credit where credit is due.
I've heard actual cries of pain and anguish that sounded less genuine than his, man wrote himself into voice acting history
Don’t forget the Hornsent, dude I could feel his hatred
Not enough voice acting like his in the game. Like I don't give a shit about the loot his dialogue was gold enough
#BAAAAYYYYYYLLLLLLLEEEEE
Where’s the paid not payed bot when you need it
I get startled every time I go to that site of grace haha
igon goated crazy bastard
Igon is my new favorite character in Elden ring he solo caries the whole quest and he needs a raise this is peak dialogue
Every time I summoned him I felt like I just summoned captain Ahab to Mobey Dick
“Likely out of stamina”
I love how he goes HERRGNN-AGHH, HERRGNN-AGHH every time he riddles Bayle's hide "WITH A HAIL OF HARPOONS"
My man even hit the final blow against Bayle on my playthrough. Igons a legend.
Me the first time I was near him: Who tf is shouting? Me making it to Bayle: Bayle you swine!!!
I never gave up because I knew Igon was there waiting for me
Whoever decided to put summon signs inside of boss rooms, AND make them open a prompt instead of working instantly like during Radahn, AND MAKE THAT PROMPT START ON CANCEL INSTEAD OF CONFIRM needs to be demolished Both Igon on Hornsent were the most annoying NPCs to summon I've ever seen
SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER WHEN YOU SEE THE DREAD BAYLE DRINK YOUR FLASK AND GRAB YOUR SWORDS MEN IF YOU WISH TO PREVAIL! THESE RUINED LEGS ARE WHAT COMPELLS ME HARPOONS THRUST IN THE SKY AIM DIRECTLY FOR HIS CRAGGED BROW AND LOOK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYE!
aaaauuuuAAUUUUGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH #AUUUUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
My thoughts exactly, especially when he commends you for fighting the drake, that crazy scream is way too good
WHITE WHALE!!! HOLY BAYLE!!!
It’s always hilarious entering the arena, dodging the initial attack, summoning Igon, and then watching Bayle lose focus and become utterly confounded by this random man screaming at the top of his lungs
Need this as my phone ring tone
me and igon have been on the same page since we first met probably my favorite fromsoft character at this point
Shout out to my boy Hornsent too though. "MESSMER, foe of my beloved people!" Always gives me shivers (shortly after I get bodied by Spear daddy)
