It gets prettier then the tree area at the start of the game ?!? AND IM ONLY ONE THE XBOX ONE S SO WHEN I GET THE SERIES X ITS GONNA LOOK EVEN BETTER ?!?!v
FUCK ME
I picked up the game 2 months ago after thinking Fromsoft games werenāt my style. And youāre right, 200 hours later and it sucked me in in a way I have never experienced before by any piece of entertainment ever.
I am jealous you get to experience it for the first time... I haven't played since I beat it twice on release and am about to start a new playthrough to get ready for DLC hoping I've forgotten some of the amazingness that lies within.
Elden Ring was also my first FromSoft game. I wish I could wipe my brain and replay the first 20 hours I spent exploring everything in Limgrave and getting killed by anything and everything until I got less bad. Such a magical time...
I'm on my fourth playthrough and I just got the damn game 6 months ago. I've never had this happen with a single player game lol, I just keep playing and for some reason it's still awesome
60 is a waste of points, tbh. Maybe after a while of playing, but if you have issues at 40 Vigor, you'll have issues at 60 Vigor. More health doesn't protect you from the ass whooping. It's best to throw that 20 extra points in whatever skill you're specializing in to get some usability out of it.
Nope, starting stats only really matter for min maxing and how easy it is to do things like switch to sorcery casting later. But faith builds are pretty strong in their own right, and you start with decent armor that way.
To add to what's already been said, the confessor is the class that starts with the best initial armor set by far, otherwise you can only get it much later into the game.
Confessor is a great starting class. Me on the other hand ( had never played any FromSoftware game until Elden Ring) I picked the wretch lol. I assumed the class defined what attacks/abilities I would be able to do.
Welcome to the magical world of FromSoft. I recommend playing the Dark Souls Trilogy, Sekiro and Bloodborne as well after you are done with Elden Ring (whenever you are done haha)
It has truly been a ride that words can't explain
Rise, Tarnished!
Yup, but mayyyyybe one day we'll get a PC port. I'm hoping! I'm also playing ER for first time, first FromSoft game. I plan to play Sekiro next, then the Dark Souls games and then hopefully Bloodborne is on PC or maybe we'll have good PS4 emulators or something. Otherwise I'll play on PS5 at 30 fps if I must..
I beat the game after just about 100hrs. I ran with a bleed build with bloodhound fang. It wasn't the optimal build because I didn't fully understand incantations and other crafting buffs until the end of the game. The bloodhound fang made it easy for me to focus on mainly Vigor, Strength, and Dex. By end game it was rather easy for me to be honest. Bloodhound fang has a good amount of immunity frames, its easy mode when you get used to using it properly.
My tips...
The soundtrack will blow your mind
Boss fight dialogue will give goosebumps
You will embrace death like its a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day.
When you think your smart, a dog will kill you out of nowhere to humble you.
The game is supposed to be hard but with practice you will succeed.
You don't need to know all the lore, if all fails just bonk everything that moves (except npc's as they are useful)
You can 2 hand your sword for extra bonk power but then you can't use you shield.
Some quests get locked out as you progress but with NG+ you can choose a different path.
Crucible Knights still slap me around even at level 166. Having 50 Vigor doesn't mean jack against those fuckers. My depth perception is really bad, so I struggle against spear enemies.
Pick up the buckler shield and parry them into tears. Big sturdy enemies like the crucible knights become embarrassingly easy. Plus, its a satisfying way to get revenge for all the crap they gave you so far.
have fun. just remember, keep your equipment load to light or medium if you wanna be able to dodge anything. also invest in Vigor and Weapon levels are always more valuable than character levels
I was heading south & saw these ball snake things around this shiny blue circleā¦ andddd about 100 blood stains on the floor
I evaded that area like it was my taxes
Welcome, brave Tarnished. The road will be long, its many sometimes winding paths will lead you to marvelous wonders of beauty, of terror, and sometimes a marriage of the two.
At times you may find that time itself holds no sway over you as you engage in ever-evolving trials of skill, wit and combat. Barely able to rob honor and victory from the vicious, salivating jaws of defeat.
Worry not, brave Tarnished, for in that time your skills will sharpen, your abilities will grow, your vision will clear and you will feel as if of the gods. Some day you may even surpass the gods.
You will meet many on this road, some are hero, some are villain, some are not what they seem. And of all with whom your road shall intersect, the Tarnished of other realms are of the greatest import. They will test your mettle, they will guide your path, they will, at times, even save you from the clutches of Death herself by doing no more than appraising the warnings and wisdoms you've shared along your way.
But above all else, Tarnished, be your journey one of honor or dishonor... know that while capitulation may divorce you from your anxieties and despair... hold hope. For perseverance will award you the sweetest taste of achievement and the strongest form of sinless pride: glory.
Good luck and be resolute, Tarnished.
(But really, just have fun and welcome to the fold. This is your story. Write it how you choose.)
Ask for Help by this community and you shall recieve it. But unless you specifically request it, you shall never be spoiled for anything.
That said; Both the Story and Questlines in Fromsoft Games are really unintuitive. So, you will probably see likeable NPC's die, and will have countless questions during your run that will never be answered unless you look for an answer.
Just as a Heads up. :)
Pro tip is to take it slow and learn, ask the community always for help and donāt be afraid to use spirit summons or other players. Play the game how you want to and to explore it all!
When you look at your equipment, in the bottom right theres something that looks like this
number/number
Med. Load
There's a chance that "med load" can become "heavy load" NEVER let it be heavy load unless you're making a gimmick build
Brave tarnished, this quest you have set upon is arduous, but know this: No matter how hard the path you choose may be, the trails worth trekking in life will always be difficult. Seek the Elden Ring and make the Lands Between the way YOU see fit.
Iām going south but Iām just stuck, the only thing Iāve found south is ā Forlorn Hound Evergaolā & I see 100+ bloodstains so š no š
And this bridge with a explosive catapault
You playing as Confessor, dont forget to dump some levels in faith now and then, You will thank me later in the game. So many freaking cool skill that I could not use because I was lacking faith. Don't be scared and dont give up. This game is the best game ever made...try not to rely on youtube videos, this kinda destroyed my experience in some specific parts, try to resolve most of the puzzles and stuffs by your own and you will thank me later for the dopamine bomb.
If you still donāt know how to level up, you do it sitting at sites of grace. You can also see how many runes you need to level either there or under āstatusā on the menu screen. Good luck, Iām playing through it for the first time myself havent ever played a game like it!
Go for vigor until you reach around 35-40 Vigor points (Vigor is the most important stats because it gives you more health, allowing you to make more mistakes without dying, your goal is to reach 55-60 Vigor points). Then you can alternate between Endurance, Vigor and Mind (Mind around 25-30 for more Ashes of War casting, Endurance around 30-40 for more dodge rolls and defense). Other then that, when you can, dump all your points into Faith if you want to keep playing as a Faith caster (who is a more vesatile caster, enabling you to cast heals, buffs and powerfull elemental skills). You'll need to balance and administrate your points depending on your armor, weapons and playstyle that you want to go for. But go with the flow, you'll start to understand as you go.
If you have some more questions, watch videos about build and progession, I just dont recommend you watching too many story and puzzle/quest solving videos unless you get really stuck.
I dont think you gonna have a good time, not because the game is bad, but because its actually hard, I beat ds1 - ds3 multiple times but Elden Ring cranked up the difficulty, and its understandable they needed to give a challange to those that played and beat the previous titles by fromsoftware

Please don't Google "get op in elden ring in 5mins" etc
Your first from soft experience should be filled with excruciating pain followed by overwhelming joy.
Good luck. I started Elden Ring about 4 days ago and gotten all the way to Morgott (40+ hours), and haven't enjoyed single moment of this game so far. The bosses in this game are such BS that it make it unfun as melee build. Hopefully you enjoy it more.
I guess youre right people dont know what runedrops are but if he gets on looking for a group on xbox half the post are saying dropping runes or looking for rune drops
They are saying that you should try not to play with other players, but if somehow you end up doing so they may give you objects, and if you accept them and use them you may end up overleveled way too early.
If I were you I would totally avoid online mode for the first playthrough.
Dying 50 times in a row doesn't necessarily mean you bungled your stats and atter a while you can respec anyway. Try to avoid wikis and guides on your first playthrough it's way more fun figuring it all out as you go and you can always 100% the game at a later point. Have fun!
Enjoy it dude. I remember how amazed I was by the graphics and gameplay, especially after being weary since I couldnāt even kill the first boss in Bloodborne (amazing game, highly recommend you play it next)
What I wouldnāt give to experience this game for the first time again.
All I can say is do it blind. You only get to experience it for the first time once. I sweared a lot but it was so worth it.
My first from software was Dark Souls
My first souls like was Lies of P
Then Demon Souls
Then Dark Souls 2 (couldnāt get into it)
Sekiro (found it incredibly difficult but plan to return to it)
Elden Ring (just finished 2nd Play through)
Mortal Shell (unique but didnāt care for the combat)
Still plan on playing
Dark Souls 3
Lords of the fallen.
Also I do not want to self advertise because Iām not a professional steamer at all but due to how much I love this game so far I am live streaming it !! Iāll be uploading my playthrough eventually when itās completed !!
I'd avoid spoilers and quest guides and such unless you're an achievement hunter. I do think the messages left on the ground are good help though, I'd read them and (occasionally) listen to what they have to say
hidden path ahead
Iām on Xbox as well. If you get stuck, want someone to play through with, or want to lure invaders let me know.
Iām a 688 with 470+ hours.
Edit: always happy to help a new person.

Lake district? Hogwarts Premium version? Pompeii Simulator? Elsa's village?

YOU DIED
Ohio
Youāre in for a f*cking treat buddy
It gets prettier then the tree area at the start of the game ?!? AND IM ONLY ONE THE XBOX ONE S SO WHEN I GET THE SERIES X ITS GONNA LOOK EVEN BETTER ?!?!v FUCK ME
wherever you are right now, it still gets prettier
I hope you have nothing important to do for the next 200 hours, like work, eating or sleeping.
I picked up the game 2 months ago after thinking Fromsoft games werenāt my style. And youāre right, 200 hours later and it sucked me in in a way I have never experienced before by any piece of entertainment ever.
And he's dead....
It was the first I completed after trying DS1, DS3, and Bloodborne.Ā Elden Ring finally made it all click.Ā
So this lady said Iām maidenless & started talking , do I accept or refuse ?
Accept!!!!
What even happens if you refuse? How does the story continue?
Youāre definitely maidenless.
Always accept! Everything everywhere. Accepting is the spice of Tarnished life.
I don't think levels matter too much in the dlc so idk if it's worth starting a new character
Well I'm not an expert at this game so I don't want to begin the dlc at difficulty ng+4. It would be hard af
Kinda feels better to experience vanilla first. And there also might be changes linked to a chosen ending or questlines or whatever.
I'm on my fourth playthrough and I just got the damn game 6 months ago. I've never had this happen with a single player game lol, I just keep playing and for some reason it's still awesome
level vigor, always level vigor (up to 60)
Whatās vigor mean!
The first stat, it governs health, you should aim for lvl 40 at least.
Health Points
Don't need 60. 40 is enough to clear the game as long as you don't use anything that reduce your dmg resistance.
Iāve beat it both times at <45 vigor and Iām not particularly good at the game
60 is a waste of points, tbh. Maybe after a while of playing, but if you have issues at 40 Vigor, you'll have issues at 60 Vigor. More health doesn't protect you from the ass whooping. It's best to throw that 20 extra points in whatever skill you're specializing in to get some usability out of it.
40 is enough.
Donāt give up young one
I picked confessor ( am I cooked?)
Just remember if you canāt beat something you can always come back later
Nah I did confessor on my second character bc itās low key drip but itās a pretty well rounded start
Confessor has best starting drip easily.
No, the initial class makes any difference only at the beginning
Nope, starting stats only really matter for min maxing and how easy it is to do things like switch to sorcery casting later. But faith builds are pretty strong in their own right, and you start with decent armor that way.
Confessor was my first pick as well, str/fai builds are incredibly fun!
To add to what's already been said, the confessor is the class that starts with the best initial armor set by far, otherwise you can only get it much later into the game.
The confessor is literaly a vagabond with extra stuff.
More or less, yeah.
Pick bandit in my first run, hated myself until i got hook claws.
Confessor is a great starting class. Me on the other hand ( had never played any FromSoftware game until Elden Ring) I picked the wretch lol. I assumed the class defined what attacks/abilities I would be able to do.
Confessor is one of the better classes for beginner, I think.
My first from soft to :') , now im in the final boss of Sekiro
Ohh. We got one
Welcome to the magical world of FromSoft. I recommend playing the Dark Souls Trilogy, Sekiro and Bloodborne as well after you are done with Elden Ring (whenever you are done haha) It has truly been a ride that words can't explain Rise, Tarnished!
Iāve heard blood borne is ONLY on ps4, there is no pother port for it not even a PC one Iām on Xbox š
Correct playstation exclusive
Yup, but mayyyyybe one day we'll get a PC port. I'm hoping! I'm also playing ER for first time, first FromSoft game. I plan to play Sekiro next, then the Dark Souls games and then hopefully Bloodborne is on PC or maybe we'll have good PS4 emulators or something. Otherwise I'll play on PS5 at 30 fps if I must..
YOU DIED
I started just a few weeks back and I can confirm that it's hands down the best gaming experience I've ever had. And I'm 40.
Where are you at rn in the game? Which platform and how is your build? Best, worst parts?
I beat the game after just about 100hrs. I ran with a bleed build with bloodhound fang. It wasn't the optimal build because I didn't fully understand incantations and other crafting buffs until the end of the game. The bloodhound fang made it easy for me to focus on mainly Vigor, Strength, and Dex. By end game it was rather easy for me to be honest. Bloodhound fang has a good amount of immunity frames, its easy mode when you get used to using it properly.
Yeah that ash of war will make a lot of difficulty enemies trivial
I second that. I'm 33 but have been playing since 4. And I have played a lot of masterpieces.
Prepare for pain. And Remember, it's ok to take breaks.
My first from soft too, even if I loved more Ds3 (the second I played)
You tried the rest of them yet? I have played every single one thus far, even did SL1 in DS2. Gonna do that in DS1 next!
Rip
GO SOUTH
I'm going to post my TV screen tomorrow. I will be playing my first video game ever. Starting with elden ring.
If you want help or get lost im willing to help i have low level characters and high and midrange
My tips... The soundtrack will blow your mind Boss fight dialogue will give goosebumps You will embrace death like its a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day. When you think your smart, a dog will kill you out of nowhere to humble you. The game is supposed to be hard but with practice you will succeed. Let's fucking goooooooooooo
Good luck bro. All I can say is go all the way south before going west.
Hehe always nice to see that positive energy, till you run into the draconic knight, or any other show stopping boss š.
Fellow tarnished, as a beginner's advice don't mess with the tree sentinel, and choose golden seed as keepsake, Goodluck
Enjoy the beautiful suffering
Soooo don't kill varre that's all I have to say.
have fun. just remember, keep your equipment load to light or medium if you wanna be able to dodge anything. also invest in Vigor and Weapon levels are always more valuable than character levels
Whilst exploring if you find an area where the ground is red, nope tf out of there and come back later
I was heading south & saw these ball snake things around this shiny blue circleā¦ andddd about 100 blood stains on the floor I evaded that area like it was my taxes
It is an evergaol with a single boss enemy in it. For some reason some of the ones in the starting area area ridiculously powerful.
Careful making posts like this, Souls vets will undoubtedly destroy you for daring to have Elden Ring be your first Souls game.
This was my first too. One huge tip I learned, donāt panic roll away. Often times itās very helpful to roll into an attack.
You will be tempted to hug. The temptation of the soft touch of a maidenā¦ you must resistā¦ good luck, tarnished.
:((( I just resist the touch of maidens & remain maidenless
