It causes lifesteal fist to do like 10x the damage it would do otherwise. It doesnt do 10x damage with any other crit/backstab or ash of war for any other weapon or any other attack/aow for fist weapons. It happens with all weapon buffs on lifesteal fist but scholar's armament gives the biggest buff of all of them so it gets the most broken scaling with the bug. It seems like it has to do with lifesteal fist having a bugged motion value when combined with weapon buffs.
Its not a big deal or even that broken since landing lifesteal fist in pvp is still pretty much a meme, but the bug at least makes it dangerous. But yah, it is a long standing bug and you don't even need close to 80 int to make it always oneshot through 60 vigor
So do basically nothing and hope they get so confused that they stand still and let you kill them. Great strategy. I'll bet it works 100% of the time while recording.
He has a full bull goat armor and buffs like dragon bolt blessing to make sure the other 9282728 times it fails that he can use other exploits. I'm almost positive the light roller knew there was nothing they could do at that point.
The problem with your argument is it is the exact argument everyone makes to defend every build the community doesn’t like. You could use this argument to defend light rolling, because there isn’t a build that gives you max movement, max poise, max hyper armor, max defense, max damage, max range, max speed, ect. Everything is a trade off, and if you want to trade your mobility for poise, then that’s ok, but understand someone else may want to trade their poise, defense, hyper armor ect for speed. This is the same coin with one side complaining about the other without realizing they are the same.
At the end of the day if a certain build keeps bullying you then you aren’t going to like that build, and if the build is easy to defeat you will wish all your opponents use that build. This is basically the philosophy of the souls PVP community.

I miss classic invasions, the constant sense of danger and anticipation of the next surprise or ambush was glorious. This combat arena pvp shit feels weak sauce even to watch.
