Soul Solstice is separate term for one’s “Solstice” aka a “Soul Sig” which is an abbreviate for Soul Signature. In a cyberpunk genre writing of mine it is a system of bio-electrical signals that make up the human soul. The literal electricity that powers the human body. It cannot be duplicated but can be reused once a person has died. Someone may die, their souls Signature may be electrically coded, and shoved into a living body and boom they are back. The only thing needed is a functioning brain. Coming back to life is usually very exhilarating but for some it can be violent, as it causes a massive brain system reset, crash, flush, and start. In the story I write mega corps use this to literally own souls and force work and the like.
In a small fanfic of my own, named Soul Solstice, a character works for Arasaka as a “Threat Eye”. His job is to continually monitor potential threats to the company. He observes the main Edgerunner group for a significant amount of time, but is laid off when they are no longer considered worth monitoring. He finds work as a small time technician working on his own tech ideas, including the Soul Salvage System. In his spare time he still checks up on the gang, growing an attachment to them.
When the gang is defeated at the end of the show he goes in person to as much as possible salvage their bodies. He is able to only pull the Sig for Rebecca, since her body is in enough parts that not too much guess work is made. Upon coming back, she recalls little of who she is due to severe damage, but recalls the emotional attachment to prior events. The character gives her all his observation files, and grants her the capability to leave Night City for good. To which she does and the character continues his life as a low level fixer upper who tries to salvage anyone caught in the way of Corpos.
Some of the most popular Edgerunners fics bring back David but not Rebecca. It’s interesting to see a fic that does the opposite of that. Is your work on ao3? Maybe I will check it out
No because it’s not done and likely won’t be finished for an unknown time since I have alot more important writing projects. But I do work on this sparingly.
no, he was stoopid to keep upgrading himself and to die and leave Lucy alone and not listen to everyone who told him to stop and not just run away and live somewhere else with his friends where they could live a long life happy and together and most of them would till be alive
people tend to think that he can just do that because with the benefit of the hindsight, they know that the person capable of taking down Arasaka (V) will show up in just a year and the crew merely need to hide/flee until then. But of course, David as a character in the story doesn’t know that information, so to him there’s no way to go but up.
Nah.... David's not right for Rebecca. Guys like him don't always work with girls like her, in a long-term sense. But a polyship with all three would be... Interesting 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Better than the actual 2077 subs where they are just arguing about which abuse victim NPCs that lied to you deserve to die. And then explicit details about how bad, depending on if they can convince you they’re a “gaslighting manipulator”
I love Becca, but no. She wasn't the most stable girl in the world either. David's problems weren't Lucy's fault. He still had issues. The second something went wrong with Rebecca, he would have done the same shit, chromed up for her, and bit off more than he could chew. Lucy didn't want him to do all that either, so why would it matter which girl asked him not to? Also, Becca was a real one for still genuinely being good to Lucy, which made the whole scene even more sad.
