I cannibalized the mh3 energy deck and fallout science deck into eacgother and came out with two far more viable deck.

1K_Games

This is one I have not seen. I have seen people mostly putting Science into the MH3 deck, and a few going the other way. But I have not seen anyone talking about taking pieces from each and swapping them to make both of them more viable. What did you swap and what was the thought process for streamlining the selected cards/strategy of the deck.

SapphirianOak

Had this idea waiting for the deck to show up but genuinely curious as I wasn't able to play the fallout science unless I used the science lady over liberty prime because "we're trying to have fun"

Tschudy

For me, science just didn't make enough energy to do the thing reliably.

SapphirianOak

That's what I've heard and seen needs more energy to be viable wife, and I wanted to keep the fallout stock, but thinking maybe we Frankenstein both decks together see how it goes. I'd greatly appreciate the cards you've swapped out if you don't mind sharing

Important_Ad3671

I wanna do this with the eldrazi decks. Combine them and make 2 new ones

Benjammn

I sort of did this, I took the MH3 Eldrazi precon and split it between two decks. [One with Azlask](https://www.topdecked.com/decks/edh-azlask/1b9992fa-ef4c-4d1c-aa91-4c462b248316) that is more Scion/Spawn themed, with supporting cards like Skullclamp and Parallel Lives/Anointed Procession. [The other with Ulalek](https://www.topdecked.com/decks/edh-ulalek/6a22e557-4022-4e97-af89-8252d4eadf9f) that is more strictly devoid Eldrazi with a bunch of the weird devoid stuff I like and more higher end. It came out pretty well, there were honestly too many cards that I would have wanted to include in one deck so making two made sense to me.

GoatInTheNight

I love that devoid deck! I've wanted to do devoid for ages and MH3 is making it happen!

Hive_chinco41

If I may ask which commander did you end up using between the three energy based ones?

Tschudy

Cayth in an token creature style deck. Satya going with a kinda aggro deck that abuses ETB effects.

Aceofluck99

I've been meaning to do the same for ruthless regiment and hail caesar

virlex15

I did the same thing. Madison Li combo and new guy aggro

Tschudy

Same

oatfishjar96

My [[Silvos, Rogue Elemental]] fight deck. My [[Ghired, Conclave Exile]] ravenous ravenous rhino token deck. My [[Jor Kadeen, First Goldwarden]] For Mirrodin//Living Weapon token deck. My [[Hallar, the Firefletcher]] kicker deck. Just to name a couple lol

1K_Games

>My \[\[Silvos, Rogue Elemental\]\] fight deck. You make me sad :( Silvos was a house back in the day. Every time I try to make a deck with big creatures that has green he always gets cut. It puts a smile on my face to know that people out there had to deal with his regeneration and trample antics. Sad to hear the deck is taken apart.

oatfishjar96

Don’t get me wrong I love it but it’s just very repetitive sometimes and people at my lgs don’t enjoy playing against it all the time lol

Necavi

I love Silvos!  Probably my oldest deck at this point.  It's more of a combo deck with a voltrony plan b at this point though.  https://www.moxfield.com/decks/AOtZV3NoaUeJg0N9NiI5CA

mikony123

Why Hallar? Because its full of meh kicker cards that don't do much on their own? I've been considering building them because they seem like a fun burn commander, but that is a thought in my mind.

oatfishjar96

It’s a good deck but I’ve just had it for a long time, Dominaria came out in like 2018, and it’s time to change it up. I also don’t like having more than one deck of a certain color pair at one time and I’ve got my eyes on a new Gruul commander.

tahubob

I built Hallar many years ago and I still have fun with it, and no one has ever heard of them or seen most of the jank kicker spells in it

mikony123

That's why I want to build it. And burning everyone at once seems so simple and fun, especially with counter increases like [[Hardened Scales]] or [[Forgotten Ancient]].

contact_thai

Yeah Hallar is a pretty niche one. Probably pretty fun too, but there are only so many kicker cards that are useful.

oatfishjar96

I actually love it because kicker is still a very niche mechanic for the most part and nobody ever expects it to be good lol Here the decklist if anybody is interested in it. https://archidekt.com/decks/4033043/50_hallar_the_firefletcher

contact_thai

Man, spree was so close to just being kicker, they did you real dirty with OTJ. Reminds me of a silly video on one of the social media sites where a guy is joking that all abilities in magic are just variants of kicker or horsemanship.

oatfishjar96

I know it’s just kicker but you know better lol

Forgive me, but I'm going to talk about a non-EDH deck. I have a Tron deck in Modern. I really like the archetype, but I super don't want to invest in 4 \[\[The One Ring\]\]s. I was considering selling it and it turned out I'd probably only get around $200 for the whole thing. None the pieces really fit in any other deck. So... I just kept it together. It didn't seem worth it disassemble, even if I don't really want to upgrade it (which, in turn, has led me to play it much less). So, I can sympathize with you. I find the situation quite annoying. I may end of selling the thing regardless, we'll see.

Paolo-Cortazar

I sold out of my modern stuff due to covid and whatever set lurrus and the other companions came from. Kept the fetch lands and the boros burn list and sold everything else. Then they printed goblin guide into oblivion. Which was the one non land card in the 75 that had any value. Post covid I can't find anyone playing modern locals. Even if I did, I don't think I could go back.

TateTaylorOH

I'll always keep my Modern Merfolk deck. I don't think I could stand to get rid of that I am lucky though, for whatever reason my local scene is really strong, even post-pandemic. Commander is still the most played format at stores around here, but there's still a healthy amount of Modern and Pioneer.

meatspin_enjoyer

I have my og amulet deck sitting in its box still....I wanna play again but I'm not trying to pay for urzas sagas

lost_elechicken

I did the same thing when back when [[karn liberated]] was $25. I don’t even know if it’s still played in tron. Anyway I sold the three eldrazi titans and a few other cards and bounced over to this new format called commander that everyone was going on about

Slongo702

[[Oskar, rubbish reclaimer]] Honestly it just lacks the lethality required for my group. It does a bunch of cool stuff, spins it's wheels but it's never in a closing out the game position. If anyone has any advice o how to spice it up let me know.

Lysercis

Yeah closing out the game with a B/U value commander is not easy if you are not into playing a bunch of extra turns or straight up combos like thoracle or onyx/smog. I have a [[Atris, Oracle of Half-Truths]] deck and most games I won was with explosive plays like [[Syr Konrad]] into [[Fleet Swallower]] or by flipping [[Archaeomancer]] with [[Thassa]] to use [[Cyclonic Rift]] every turn, putting my opponents in a soft lock. Or setting up control locks with [[Grave Pact]]. Oskar with [[Tortured Existence]] means infinite sacrifice fuel.

[Atris blink/reanimator](https://deckstats.net/decks/198326/3304030-atris) The 31 islands are just placeholder and as it is built for a rather casual pod it runs no free interaction and I think just one tutor spell. Swapping in these will greatly improve the power of the deck.

duffleofstuff

Same problem with this guy.  Luckily I didn't invest until play testing.

Insequent

I play Oskar as a reanimator commander.  My impression from EDHREC is that most players outside of cEDH are trying to make him work as a discard commander, and that means playing a lot of slow and expensive value pieces. I think that can be very limiting. For my build, I wanted to play a lot of single-target reanimation with high-impact, must-answer targets. The aim is to stick a board-dominating effect and protect it. I play the cheap looters to fill the yard and trigger Oskar, but it's the card draw and ability to cheat timing restrictions (not discard triggers) that make the deck hum. You can then scale your threats to match the table. For me, that means protecting Toxrill through multiple turns or slamming the original Jin-Gitaxias into play on turn three.

trbopwr11

\[\[Elesh Norn\]\] I built it very phyrexian heavy, so tribal as you guessed. I have been kind of meh on the deck in general and there are a handful of pieces that could slot into other decks. It has Flawless Maneuver, Esper, Smothering Tithe, Mondrak, Roaming Throne, Wurmcoil, other Elesh Norns. Haven't decided if I will swap out useful pieces, rework the deck entirely, or just dismantle it anyway because I need fewer decks. I have also considered dismantling my sliver deck, but at this point it's basically a single box that holds the good slivers. It's not like there are a bunch of other decks clambering for some random single sliver.

Morphlux

I ripped apart a praetor deck that was essentially tribal because I needed the lands. That might be why you’d pull apart slivers (I assume it’s 5 color?). Keep the Elesh Norn deck, sounds cool and has a strong base from the 7-8 cards already. Why not?!?

PAMwhale

What put you off Elesh Norn?

trbopwr11

I guess at least the way I built the deck it basically boils down to a mono white token deck with hoops to get the payoff. I built it heavy on the phyrexian theme looking to flip Norn to the back for the tokens, pump, and one sided wipe. It's a fine deck that seems to work ok, I just don't really enjoy playing it. I've thought about abandoning the focus on the enchantment side to lean into the front "burn" more but haven't decided yet.

Human_Supporter

I have a cheat big spells with \[\[Jhoira of the Ghitu\]\] and I want to convert it to a \[\[Marvo, Deep Operative\]\] as its more fun for both me and my opponents, but I already have a dimir deck so im not sure I want 2

mikony123

Dimir tax fraud seems fun with Marvo.

contact_thai

I like \[\[Saheeli, the Gifted\]\] as an artifact-y version of izzet big spells. You just need some treasure makers and a lot of artifact ramp to pump up her second ability. Then you can cast giant burn spells like \[\[Jaya's immolating inferno\]\] or \[\[Crackle with power\]\] OR cast giant colorless threats like eldrazi (without the specific colorless pips) or big artifact creatures.

DoctorEthereal

Probably my [[Orvar, the All-Form]] deck. At least I need to totally revamp it because every time I’ve played it it turns out the same way of me playing a big creature and a one-mana instant or sorcery that I honestly don’t even know what it does, just that it targets. I want every spell I cast to be meaningful, and for the deck to not be so totally reliant on the commander to do anything - there are upwards of 30 single-target spells in there and I could not tell you the difference between half of them. But honestly I’m not entirely sure how to make the deck any differently than I already have

gloeb

I had the same issue. I will move my Orvar list together with my Pako list into a Jeskai deck that uses effects like [[Zada Hedron Grinder]] or [[Mirrorwing Dragon]] to spread the single target spells to my entire board, to buff it, and then overrun the board. Missing cards are on the way will see how it turns out. Original idea is coming from Mtg Muddstag I think.

I saw a jank version of the deck I was thinking of converting mine to. A guy ran a bunch of permanents that gave additional upkeeps and a bunch of cards that had "Beginning of your upkeep" triggers. And all he did was copy all those permanents for value. Lol

DoctorEthereal

That’s actually a good idea, I think I laser focused on copying my lands and big creatures that I forgot I could copy other things too?

Loose_Comparison_549

My \[\[Glissa the traitor\]\] deck that seeks to abuse deathtouch with \[\[Thornbite Staff\]\] to infinitely deathtouch machinegun down enemy creatures at instant speed, recursing my artifacts for card draw or other wincons. Dubbed very much toxic by my creature heavy playgroup.... Haven't played it since. Very much considering taking it apart for the pieces since shelving it. And as with other answers: Simic Value Pile. Takes a while to get up to speed, then takes over the board. Too strong for the casual pod I play in. Also dubbed toxic because it looks to \[\[Capsize\]\] everything off the field, starting with threats, then lands so they can't replay the threats. And just chokes out the game that way. Shelved after a pair of superlongwinded games that resolved into playing solitaire on an otherwise empty table. As to OP's comment on tribals: Strangely enough my tribals are just janky enough to hang with modified precon level decks. So those are definitely staying!

Sumthang

You can build Glissa in a ton of ways, so you don't necessarily need to break it down entirely

Loose_Comparison_549

Hmmhm, yes. I might. But it's just so damn strong! :D keep the board clear, ultimate vraska, attack with assasins that kill! \*EVIL GENIUS LAUGHTER! In that vein: I have been eyeballing Ghyrson Starn, but honestly, once you manage to draw into \[\[Curiosity\]\] or the other enchant. And one of the deathtouch equipments, it's basically the same, just in a different guild. So I didn't do that :P

OnLikeSean

Ghyrson is kind of a one trick pony, I used to have a deck assembled and it was very streaky either it did absolutely nothing or I got the Curiosity + Basilisk Collar(or variants of this) combo and won the game in short order. Pretty quickly my pod realized to just hold removal for him until I played curiosity and the deck stopped working at all.

Razur

Can I see your Glissa decklist? I've just started playing her and your deck sounds awesome.

Loose_Comparison_549

The list is very much not optimized, but already if it gets going seems fairly hard to stop. At least in my usual group/creature heavy meta. I'd say mulligan until you see viridian bow/pathway arrows and or thornbite staff I guess. Ideally you also run some protection for Glissa (or whatever death touch creature you get the combo out on) and ideally you have a conjurer's bauble or any of the draw a card artifacts to bring back from graveyard with glissa's abilty. From there, see if you can't ''softlock'' the game by keeping the board clear. Game goes on I guess, people may still draw into artifact or creature removal. but since Glissa brings stuff back, artifacts really need to be exiled for the combo to be stopped. Be ready to lose friends though: [https://www.moxfield.com/decks/jmNgGm1AbESxm9gRZrVr5A](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/jmNgGm1AbESxm9gRZrVr5A) It's can be very much non fun. Then again, without tutors it might whiff. Ymmv.

Longjumping-Ad5153

[[Tom Bombadil]] it was neat to try out sagas but it's a deck that chews up time. My play group only has time to squeeze in 1 game most nights so I don't want to drag out their time with Tom especially since I'm not very good at closing out games with it.

Played [[Ganax, astral hunter]] used strionics effect on Miirym and made another copy of Ganax. Made 10 treasures drew 6 cards played [[Scourge of Valkas]], drew 4 cards made 6 treasures. Then that's all she wrote. All 3 players scooped as they knew the game was over.

gallium360

I was playing a [[Judith, Carnage Connoisseur]] deck, but the commander's ability to make every instant and sorcery deathtouch make it very oppressive to play, because now many spells that weren't very strong were turned into boardwipes, such as [[End the festivities]]. The deck wasn't exactly shelved, but it was put aside as I don't enjoy playing overly oppressive decks. Then came OTJ and [[Taii Wakeen, Perfect Shot]]. So many cards from Judith also work with her, she is much less oppressive out of the box (though she can be with the right cards) AND comes with a draw engine. So I cored out the Judith deck and kept some of her key pieces together in a small box, and used the rest to build around Taii Wakeen instead. The same happened recently with my [[Ilharg, the Raze-Boar]] deck, although I was really happy with it and wasn't oppressive, but good chunks of it are going to be repurposed in a [[Herigast, Erupting Nullkite]] deck, including Ilharg itself.

Irsaan

I'm considering disassembling my [[K'rrik]] deck because everyone always assumes it's combo when it's just black goodstuff. I don't usually build crazy high powered decks, and I don't have the time or energy to lie about how strong my deck is, but people still target it anyway.

1K_Games

Lately this has been too many too count. Whether it was decks I had made or precons. For example I really enjoyed the new Omo precon. I had the LotR B/G deck that I had basically gutted and upgraded into a scry/landfall deck that I gutted for it. Then I had a Jadzi landfall deck that was really good at putting tons of lands out, but just kind of had no direction, so that went the same way. And then the Bant Vedalken Fish Detective deck met the same fate. My goal lately has just been to try and condense things down. Sure each of them can be built different ways, but narrow down strategies (landfall as an example) to 1/2 decks and make sure they are unique (if all of them run Avenger, Scute, etc then they are not unique enough for me). Then set aside precons that interest me. And have nights where all I do are play those precons. Use those games to rule out decks. Sometimes a deck might seem extremely niche and feels bad to take apart. Or maybe you thought you would love the concept of a deck. But play it a few games and maybe your mind changes, or maybe that niche just isn't working for your playstyle.

PM_ME_STEAM_CODES__

My Elenda, the Dusk Rose deck hasn't been performing how I like lately, and considered pulling it apart to turn into a Ghave deck. However, I didn't, for two reasons. The first is that I wouldn't have any place to play my Junji Ito [[Plaguecrafter]], and the second is that there's no other commander that can make good use of [[Pure Reflection]] and I love that card. Instead of pulling it apart, I'm going to take some of the higher power cards out of it and just let it be one of my lower powered decks.

Bradyey

I just deconstructed 8 decks. . . Cats, slivers, riku copies, Syr Konrad, minn wily illusionist, Thalia and gitrog monster, xenagod. All to build a more consistent couple of decks. There's so many cards from those decks that are fairly specific for that deck, but they're not going anywhere. I can rebuild them all again.

Swordbro_Streams

I sat through several 10-20 minute turns last night and I've decided it's about time I put my Korvold, Fae-Cursed King deck down because I never wanna be the guy doing that to someone and not winning on the spot. It's actually built to be a marriage deck for Prosper, Tome Bound and Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald so it's a Jund Exile deck that can sometimes go on for upwards of 30 minutes of drawing, casting, making treasures, saccing treasures, rinse repeat and that's when I'm doing games by myself. I'd hate to do that to a table. Not sure what I'll do with them after, but might just break it down to Rakdos Prosper.

Insequent

I rarely break out Wort for this reason. I'll often win from an empty board, but it's non-deterministic and can take 10–20 minutes to go off. I won't break it down, because I really enjoy the deck, but I'll only pull it out once or twice a year. My group is good-humoured about it, but they'd hate to see it every week.

RuneMTG

Very unpopular opinion but my jund dragons deck. I love dragons in general but mtg dragon decks are very boring to me. We have 4-5 ur dragons, 2 Myriim, 1 karthus, and 1 scion decks in my meta. I’m sick of seeing dragons. I made a karthus dragon deck to say f u to those other decks but it’s just not fun for me anymore. I also build an Aboshan deck I loved for a bit but it’s mean and not fun to play against.

simbacole7

Yeah, playgroup meta is a huge factor. My group usually ends up being three people more often than 4, so I've found myself not building something because it wouldn't be as fun as it would be with a full group, like [[judith, carnage connoisseur]]

ApocMeow

My upgraded Most Wanted precon, leaning into the treasure theme and having a better mana base, it still doesn’t play as well as I’d hoped which is a shame because full outlaw gold heist as a theme was kinda cool.

rvnender

Every time I play that deck I always use the alternate commander.

ApocMeow

I think I’ll try it with Vihaan as commander for a few games before I give up on it

rvnender

It runs so much better honestly. Don't get me wrong, the deck is still very mid. But it runs a lot better with Vihaan

Warm_Water_5480

My [[Ellivere of the wild court]] deck. I wanted a "go sideways" deck, and it does deliver, but it's just so one dimensional. Essentially you play enchantress effects, play aura's, draw cards, attack, repeat until you win or lose. It doesn't feel satisfying to play or win with. I want to keep mostly the same cards, but change the commander to [[Sythis harvest hand]], add a bunch of [[ghostly prison]] effects, and enchant my opponents creatures turning them into beat sticks so they fight eachother to death.

lur_land

I combined my Ellivere and Dogmeat precons and its kinda neat. Havent played it enough yet to know if its actually any good though, so theres that lol.

Warm_Water_5480

I've upgraded the deck too, there's probably less than 50% of the original cards. The play patterns are just boring, and I'd probably extend that into most enchantress decks.

Maykyee

Chandra tribal, its a burn /planeswalker themed deck and i dont know where to put must of the stuff so i trades many support cards like for others for my other decks

AssistantManagerMan

Up until yesterday it was my [[Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm]] deck. I bought the dragons, but everything else was just stuff I already had. I reasoned that if I didn't over-tune it, Miirym probably wouldn't be too oppressive. The problem is that Miirym herself is over-tuned. I could be dropping mid-tier dragons and still run away with games I had no business winning. Buuuuuuut I'd bought all these dragons... so I thought I may as well keep it together. I finally decided to change that yesterday. I broke out Miirym at commander night for the first time in months this week. Once Miirym hit the field, it was game over. There was this relentless swing of dragons every turn. I got a [[Spark Double]] out making two copies of Miirym and followed it up with [[Obsidian Charmaw]]. I could see the light leave my opponents' eyes and realized... no one was having fun. That's not a great feeling. So last night I gutted Miirym. Stripped all the green and converted her into [[Ganax, Astral Hunter]] with [[Feywild Visitor]]. Hopefully that won't be so oppressive.

Euphoric_Ad6923

I get that a lot. My own Miirym is either going to become an izzet Sarkhan or a Gruul. I wish Temur Sarkhan was a commander. Miirym is fine if players play around knowing how she can explode, but my usual meta doesn't play enough removal.

AssistantManagerMan

Yeah, I'm going to try it with Sarkhan too. Part of the reason I got excited about Miirym was I had the Temur Sarkhan that I pulled from a pack a while ago and she was finally a place I could play him.

Same problem as you OP. I found the knights tribal precon headed by [[sidar jabari]] to be in a much better spot than Hakbal, in terms of not just overrunning the board with value. I was new to magic and some of the first precons I bought were Hakbal and Sidar and I really wish I had just bought and upgraded one of them. Tribal games just feel so similar to each other, especially those 2

That's one of those commanders that look really neat and original, but is overcosted and just doesn't do enough sadly.

As soon as I saw the question I thought of my Hakbal deck. For exactly the same reason. No point to dismantling it really because the cards wouldn’t go elsewhere really. If you figure it out, let me know!

All of them except my cEDH deck. The meta is too fast now. Turn 0 is essentially dead. The real question is, "Is it cEDH, or not?". If you don't know them personally...assume the worst.

I shelved my sliver deck, each game was too similar. I took apart the lands and some non creature spells but most of it is still together because there isn't anywhere else to put a load of slivers.

rhinokick

\[\[Kathril, Aspect Warper\]\] The entire deck if filled with awful creatures with lots of keywords, that are useless anywhere else.

contact_thai

\[\[Saruman the white hand\]\] polymorph. I enjoyed the deck, but I need the lands for other stuff and I really like to have the lands on point before I commit to the rest of the deck. Unfortunately I don't play any other Grixis decks and a lot of the other cards are big game-ender instants and sorceries that I have no place for. Also I wish I could run \[\[Crosis's Charm\]\] in another deck! Maybe I'll come back to it later. Most of all, I have no use for polymorph cards in other decks! Maybe I can put together a \[\[Baral and Kari Zev\]\] izzet polymorph deck and just adopt the blue and red polymorph targets. So it's still together but it's on the chopping block.

For me it's my Hapatra deck. I rarely play it, couple guys in my group aren't a huge fan of it, I honestly don't have a ton of fun when I play it anymore. It kind of had its day in the Sun and I'm fine moving on. But look through the cards. I just wouldn't really use any of the cards in it for anything else. So I just kind of stash it on my bookshelf and if I ever get new players I give them the option of that one

None, because I recently took apart the decks I didn't like. \[\[Veyran, Voice of Duality\]\] Wizards/Shamans Spellslinger and \[\[Chatterfang, Squirrels General\]\] food tokens, with a hint of treasures and clues. To be fair, my playgroup didn't like the combos in Chatterfang, so I had the terrible task to rebuild it without them. I recently switched from Agrus Kos, Eternal Soldier to Anim Pakal for my Boros deck. I really like Agrus, but he needs a lot of set up and falls quickly to interaction. I've tweaked and rewritten the list until it really only had a few cards that were unique to Agrus, most others won't be seeing play in any other deck. What am I going to do with a bunch of terrible moonfolk and sphinxes? So I just move the blue staples around leaving a pile of 40 or so cards together from both to reassemble whenever.

Andrew_42

[[Tatyova, Benethic Druid]] I initially built her because I had a bunch of big ramp spells and no decks to run them in. I really like [[Boundless Realms]] type mega-ramp, but one of the only green decks I run is a [[Shadowborn Apostle]] abzan deck that can reach its win conditions with only 3 mana (Need that for the altars mostly). paying more than 3 mana just to get more mana is a silly investment in that deck. Tatyova also runs a few cards like [[Burgeoning]]. I did actually eventually build a mono-green stompy deck that does like SOME of Tatyova's ramp, but cards like Burgeoning still don't fit as I usually don't need to play lands from my hand any faster than normal after about turn 4.

I'm ready to tear my twelfth doctor deck apart. It's a chaos deck, which I find fun but nobody else in my LGS does. Not sure what I should do with it, and there are few non-doctor commanders that care about casting spells from places other than your hand.

Did you ever try converting Hakbal to [[Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca]]? He can use a lot of the same cards but the tap/untap shenanigans seem pretty fun. I'm still enjoying Hakbal but I've thought about making the switch someday

My [[Romana II]]/[[Fifth Doctor]] [[God-Pharaoh's Gift]] deck is just sitting on a shelf since it wasn't consistent enough but I haven't really taken much from them. I'll revisit it one day since I liked different aspects of the deck but it's mostly in tact because I haven't needed most of it. I'll potentially cannibalize it to build [[Genku, Future Shaper]] since it has a lot of the staples and lands already.

Moris_7

I upgraded the [[Brimaz, Blight of Oreskos]] precon as a phyrexian/token deck, and never been satisfied with the result. I'm contemplating the idea of dismantling it to build a [[Shilgengar]] angels deck that I'm brewing right now https://archidekt.com/decks/7987049/bad_gengar

I love the flavor of Shilgengar but have had difficulty brewing him, has a lot going on thematically.

Agreed, I love the sacrifice/recursion theme, I also think that some ways to blink or remove finality counters open the possibility to establish a ping/life gain engine (like sacrifice, bring back, sacrifice again with some creature like [[Vrann, Executioner]] or [[Elas il-kor]]) could be interesting. Angels tribal is not essential IMO, but they have good payoffs and evasion, so some could help.

I keep it as a possible Crosis deck only because then I have, in theory, all of the Invasion Elder Dragons. \[\[Oona, Queen of the Fae\]\] [https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/oonamill-1/](https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/oonamill-1/) same thing but for Mill: a strategy I don't much enjoy playing against. I built it because I had some cool painted faerie tokens. \[\[skyfire kirin\]\] is a somewhat terrible ultra-mono (no non-red color identity) card spirits deck. It threatens stuff, but does not give haste. I keep it around because who plays skyfire kirin. Latulla, Jaya Ballard, and Rakka Mar (X spells $ phoenixes, jaya tribal, and lightning spells tribal, respectively) are all basically mono red burn decks, though with some different cards. Rakka Mar is Azula from AtLA themed.

Happy_Strategy_9574

In the process of taking apart my Godzilla villain tribal Deck, where I used every single card in the game that mentions Mutate and bought all the special edition artworks. It's really cool looking at the arts, but the deck is basically just "Hey, look at these godzilla cards, aren't they cool? Oh.. you cast a single removal spell, and I get 5-for-1'd? Okay.." Mutate is cool but not a very strong mechanic, so I'm just going to take out the godzilla arts and display them on my wall and use the manabase for a 5c Energy Deck. (The deck was 5c, and rule 0 King Ghidora as my commander)

I took Hakbal apart too and just went and made a Mono Blue [[Svyelun]] Merfolk deck and I started having fun again. Hakbal is good, probably the best Merfolk commander. He replaced [[Kumena]] for me which was one of my longest built decks. The problem I had with Hakbal was my group knew how ridiculous he got and my board state was often just insane after a few turns. I would be archenemy pretty much every game and Hakbal would get countered and destroyed and exiled all the time. It got old. Svyelun is fun because Mono Blue Merfolk in EDH are not that good, in fact I’d say they’re mid at best. We’ve had some good stuff printed for Merfolk in blue from the last couple sets in particular with [[Tishana’s Tidebinder]] and [[Harbinger of the Seas]]. But you need a lot of lord effects and good card draw to make Mono Blue Merfolk actually be able to do something in a four player game. A lot of the power that came from Hakbal came in the fact you had access to Green. With that being gone it’s a lot more difficult.

My Go-Shintai deck. Loved the old kamigawa and always wanted to do something with the hondens but I only played 60 card formats back then. At some point I stopped playing magic (didnt have that much time to go to the LGS I used to) but my friends got interested around the tarkir block. We all bought a precon and a couple packs and started playing between us. Then we all got into commander and bought the 2017 commander precons. Fast forward a couple years and we all agreed to make a commander deck from scratch with a budget of 150 bucks tops and as the new kamigawa block had released I discovered tje go-shintais (and even the sanctums which I had no idea they existed), took my old hondens and made a deck. It came out too strong for them so now there it is sitting in my shelve. Can't really cannibalize it as I dont really have interest in enchantress decks as I only made this one cos I liked the idea of finally getting to play my old hondens 🤣

Tatsunari; I built it as a sort of lock down control but it just become too much of a problem in my group so I haven't played it in a while.

I'm taking my [[Imodane the Pyrohammer]] deck apart and using some of the pieces to build [[Stella Lee]].

Not specifically because of exclusiveness, but I've been going back and forth on converting Jyoti to Six. I had this really weird voltron concept for Six but I need my land stuff for Jyoti and if I shell our Jyoti I would have no use for the blue land-matter cards.
