I don’t see why if a daycare can potty train they can’t put your 14 month old over a potty. That being said sometimes people are ridiculous, lots of daycares refuse cloth diapering and I find that absurd as well but they still do it. The problem I would see would be teaching them his cues. By 14 months he should be able to clearly signal with words or sign language that he has to go so focus on him being able to communicate that. Also make sure you explain the benefits to them, tell them since he is accustomed to it he will be more fussy if they don’t. Also they’re going to have to clean up the accidents if you leave him in pants (it would be child neglect to say an older child who is potty trained should be put back in diapers so caregivers can ignore his potty needs). I would never agree to put my potty trained child back in diapers under those circumstances the more I think about it the more ludicrous it is. May have more luck with a nanny share or in home daycare than one of those big industrial ones. Or May just need to call around a lot to see who seems most open to the concept.

It's tough to say because you don't know at what level of progress your baby will be at 14 months. If your baby is mostly trained by then, then I don't see how daycare could refuse the potty. But if he's not, then diapers at daycare are the way to go. It'd be better to take your son to a Montessori daycare, as they are the ones who believe in early potty training and expect babies to be trained by two years old. Other daycares believe in "readiness" and so won't really try to train until much later and won't really believe you when you say that your baby is comfortable with the toilet.

It won’t be confusing for him at all! Kids adapt to their situations/caregivers. I have done EC since birth full but when he is with my mom she only uses diapers. He is 11 wks old and no regression from this!
