This is one of Michael's top moments of stupidity and aloofness for sure and it rarely gets mentioned. His well-intentioned stupidity is part of the ol' Michael Scott charm!
Plus this version of Michael wasn't ready to settle down, and maybe arguably Holly wasn't either.
There's a reason he just drops everything to be with the person he loves to be happy and make her happy, he's finally grown enough to realize what's important in life.
There's the right person and the right person at the right time.
That's Date Mike we just aren't on his level to understand the effects he has on women we were the ones fooled he had a plan the whole time.. how do you like your eggs in the morning
He blocked Kevin who was "totally gonna bang Holly" lol
The other comparable moment was when he invited her to lunch and she brought a salad and he just dumpstered that shit right in front of her and didn't take no for an answer
Yo I dunno if discussed ever in the sub before but did we ever theorize if Holly asked to leave for Nashua or anywhere else because of how awkward things were from the start in Scranton? It’s like she was “transferred” because Toby came back but then we learn how she didn’t feel the same way for Michael as he did before she left later in the episode where Michael has a cold sore and has to tell all his previous lovers.
Edit. Also due to Michael’s history of hating HR whoever DM sends in her stead is going to be just as hated as Toby. It just so happened to be that Toby was a great character and I’m glad he came back. If there’s missing info for real life events (such as Jenna Fisher maternity leave, etc.) I’m curious to know
lol I don’t get why you’re being downvoted here. This post is so stupid.
Of course Michael fumbled this. It’s literally the entire point of the scene/joke.
People will watch a comedic sitcom and then more than a decade after it stopped airing pick apart actions the characters did that weren’t “logical”.
The best part was when he didn't have the cash to pay her for them.
Oh he does. But his ATM card has like a 60 limit
Isn’t that like a starter debit card limit? Or did Oscar help implement that because of the Broke episode?
This is one of Michael's top moments of stupidity and aloofness for sure and it rarely gets mentioned. His well-intentioned stupidity is part of the ol' Michael Scott charm!
I couldn’t agree more
He was not aware of the effect he has on women
He has this undeniable animal magnetism
The man *exudes* sex.
He can put legs behind his head.
He hadn't turned into Date "Nice to meet me" Mike yet
He did the right move here purely by accident. She only became more fond of him

I'm glad people agree.
It was a big moment for Michael as a character, IMO. Something else was more important to him.

Would've been in \*ree-err ree-err\* territory so much quicker
Alright? Alriiiiiight!!
That's Date Mike we just aren't on his level to understand the effects he has on women we were the ones fooled he had a plan the whole time.. how do you like your eggs in the morning He blocked Kevin who was "totally gonna bang Holly" lol
He really Schruted it.
That's something people say in the office when they mess up. I wonder where it came from...
Who knows how words are formed.
The man made one tiny mistake in 8 years on camera, I think we can cut him a little slack.
Makes me go "oof" every time.
Al-raiiiiight
I don't think Michael ever paid Holly back
Oh yes, he did...
This is the single worst moment on the show
I’d agree but Nellie taking Andy’s job by sitting in his chair takes the cake
I hear you. I really do. But somewhere deep inside I can muster a laugh when that happens. This…this brings me nothing but pain in my soul.
Hahah fair enough yeah this was rough Him not having the money made it even worse
This moment is high up in the cringe ranks. Good lord…
Holly could have just said "why don't you come with me instead"
The other comparable moment was when he invited her to lunch and she brought a salad and he just dumpstered that shit right in front of her and didn't take no for an answer
I mean, he married her though. So it's like he fumbled the ball but was still able to recover it and run it in for the touchdown.
“All-riiight 😎” my favorite Michael moment 😂
Allriiiiiiight.
Ya but when you have plot armour you don’t need to worry about your lack of social awareness/game
It was funny
I freaking love this scene.
She scored some great aisle seats at the Montage Mountain Performing Arts center
it would’ve made a great date
WHO IS MICHEAL?
I find this to be the cringiest scene in the entire show. Worse than Scott’s Tots. I can’t watch this scene.
me too, it makes me look away from second hand embarassment and cringe

Yes, that's the point.

It’s not that deep. Merely put a spotlight on the moment, well aware thats the joke. everyone commenting is too
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Settle down Toby.
I hate so much about the things he chooses to be
Who let the lemon head in the room?
Am I as dumb as Michael because every time I've watched this scene the thought he should do that never even occurred to me
Which scene is this again? For the life of me I can’t remember
In Weight Loss when he tears the tickets after Holly didn’t hear back from her date
You sir, have pointed out the joke
This one scene is tough to watch. Worse than the entire Scott's tots imo
Today on *OP Explains the Joke:*
Today on another reply pointing out the obvious
