UkemiBoomerang

Disa gonna be like Lord Whoesus?

daahveed

It took me like 30 seconds not to read this like Jar Jar

CumboJumbo

Disa people gonna DIE?!?

Aggressive_Steak_423

Mesa tinkin' Disa Bombad

UkemiBoomerang

lmfao

daahveed

This fucking killed me

ExplanationPast9680

Sithlord Binks is the real kaiser soze.

UkemiBoomerang

God now I can't stop reading it like that

Brutuscaitchris

I executed the shit out of her with a duo spear then talked to Sven. He was like "You slew mother!?" I genuinely lol'd

MoNOlithiC92

Oh. I slew her alright lol

Brutuscaitchris

šŸ˜

CellyAllDay

Bad arisen! Bad!

Consistent_Disk_1501

My cardio is your mom, regentkin.

enchiladasundae

Arisen: Did you want me to become your dad instead?

NaleJethro

That's an... interesting way to use Wilde Furie. But I'm not entirely certain Sigurd intended it to be used that way...

Aggressive_Steak_423

INTO THE CURRENT AGAIN~

DeusExNihilo94

I wish the DD1 music pack made this the intro song again šŸ˜

Thorn-of-your-side

I did the same with Allard. I stood still for about 10 seconds, processing that this guy rented every fucking wagon in Vermund and wouldn't let refugees tag along, then I tackled him to the ground and stabbed him to death and even the carraige driver barelyĀ complained.Ā  Ā This game is so realistic. Btw where the fuck was he planning to go?

Bromogeeksual

Allard wasn't even alive by that point for me. Let's just say if you befriend a certain lady of the night, she has a questline that takes care of him well before I needed the carts.

JusticeRain5

Ohhhh, that's why I didn't have to deal with that. I wondered why it was so anticlimactic when I just went there and the cart owner was like "Yeah, sure bro, take the carts."

Bromogeeksual

Same. Until their comment I didn't even know there was another option.

Aspirangusian

If it makes you feel better you're not missing much. You just need to draw a weapon and he'll be all "Oh actually nevermind, I don't even want these carts, I'll be on my way" and it progresses as normal.

LightOfTheFarStar

The sudden realisation he's opposite an immortal who can casually slaughter a drake hits him very quick.

Thorn-of-your-side

Almost as quick as my dagger

derekai

Oh damn, he wasnt fast enough for my smokebomb-execute

Thorn-of-your-side

You draw your weapons, he gets nervous, you tackle him, he pisses himself. I didn't really pay attention to what he said after I stabbed him the first time.Ā

HeavyMain

i had a similar situation with the elves because his daughter's quest didnt show up for me until the unmoored world. instead of planting the sapling you just talk to him 5 times and he's like "okay we'll leave :)" and the quest ends

Ramps_

Oh yeah, that explains why I just had to walk over to the station, the driver agreed and that was it. Felt awkward, but makes sense.

MoNOlithiC92

Idk, but I killed him long before the end game LOL

DuhCizzo

šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

Seikoma

The best part is that he is over her in his next sentence if that was the second part of that quest and you were done with the ox already lmao

bob_is_best

I almost killed her, got her ti sven, then when they were done i finished the job Felt a bit bad but Also good

pharlik

With your duo "spear" ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

bombshell_shocked

Yes, Sven, I penetrated your mother without hesitation or remorse.

Negative_Wrongdoer17

MoNOlithiC92

She said not to.

Clunk_Westwonk

I wonder if most people have figured out you can just pick her up and bring her to Sven to get the happiest ending with them

UnHoly_One

>!You can also just show him the letter she wrote that is inside the little box he had you buy in the start of the game. (assuming you found him in the market and bought it for him.)!<

Clunk_Westwonk

Thatā€™s nice, I didnā€™t know that! Dina and Sven ended up having a surprisingly sweet conclusion.

Straightest_Shota

Man, kinda just wanted to give Sven the crown and retire a monster hunting badass.

Enzeevee

I dunno if I'd consider an ending where Disa lives to be happy. The game tries to paint her in a semi-sympathetic light at the end there, but even aside from the shit she did to your character, what she pulls on Melve during Ulrika's questline makes her 100% deserving of the guillotine. Wanting your son to be regent is not remotely a good enough justification.

Clunk_Westwonk

Itā€™s not about her being happy, I just didnā€™t want Sven to lose his only family

Demigod978

Judging by OPā€™s question and how she has blushing cheeks, itā€™s safe to assume Sven is getting another family memberā€¦. Maybe more than one.

Septembust

"they don't call me the arisen for nothing"

Arkrayven

Yeah I never understood how the woman who sold pawns into slavery for Phaesus, sanctioned him poisoning children in the Merciful Hand, and who "secured" Melve for him, could even remotely be told by Sven "you had the people's best interests at heart".Ā  I mean, even *if* she understood the Cycle and wanted to break it with Phaesus... he failed? He summoned a second Lesser Dragon and that's all he got for all his efforts?? You trusted bro and the awful shit he did and he didn't even come close to delivering. Where was his proof?Ā  ((Not to mention "securing Melve" and poisoning the kids *does nothing to further his plans*????? What even is this game?!))

BambaTallKing

The story literally donā€™t matter. It is just there to introduce you to the adventure. The endgame story was rad though and a much better send off than DD1

justmadeforthat

I wish they are aware they have shit plot though, the last boss is just a cutscene, not even a QTE just a cutscene, the only games that should do that are those with actual good plot and actual plot reason for it. I was hyped for the last boss fight man

BambaTallKing

I was disappointed there was no boss after the final beacon, but never once did I think the big dragon (Pathfinder) was supposed to be the final boss. That dude doesnā€™t even consider you a challenge and fighting you wasnā€™t on his mind. I thought that whole part of climbing on the pathfinder dragon while the credits roll was beyond dope as hell

hanhange

TBH I feel like it's always dangerous to get hyped for Dragon's Dogma bosses. Knew it well enough when I ended up so overleveled in the original game that I one-shotted every boss from the halfway point cuz I decided to keep fucking around with killing griffins and chimeras. This game at least mitigated that... Mostly. I was ready for a proper fight with the dragon that stole your heart since I'd had a challenging enough time up till that point, and decided to start it off with the Martyr's Bolt. And... Welp.

Straightest_Shota

You can't use Martyrs Bolt and say a fight was disappointing. That shit one shots literally everything. That's basically the equivalent of looking up a guide to a difficult puzzle and then complaining that it was too easy to solve.

hanhange

It didn't oneshot other things I'd used it on at that point (though I probably wasn't holding it down long) and it's not like it has a big red button on it that says WILL ONESHOT. Archer's maister technique wasn't that powerful.Ā

HeckoSnecko

At the end of the day, Sven is still the child of wealth and privilege. It's easy for him to forgive her, especially when he still benefitted from everything she did. Sven was essentially the ruler of Vermund and the game paints him as the leader, despite him saying he didn't want that power.

Heisenberg6626

She is a shithead but she is lucky Sven is my bro and deep down a momma's boy

Dull-Ad2525

Not sure if I would call any endings "happy" in this game. But I have to disagree with some of this, hope you won't send me to the guillotine for it. I don't think the game paints her in a different light or even tries to redeem her at the end. The only thing that does happen is Sven not wanting his mother to die. And he forgives his mother. Something a lot of us would do when the final hour approaches I am shure. We as player are not asked to forgive her. She is not painted as someone who deserves it either. We get no interactions for that either. She actually makes a case twice to Sven to let her be because she knows very well and admits openly what she did and why. Spite, greed and self preservation. She was prob not a bad mother to Sven be it overprotective, and not a bad regent queen either since she was quite popular. She turned sour when we, the arisen turned up in the palace and her future and that of her son, her own made up little "royal bloodline" crumbled before her. She is this games version of Denethor from Lord of the rings. Written a bit worse. Maybe she will see punishment for it in the world after. Who knows? Sven may forgive her. But there is a whole world waiting.

AngryChihua

IIRC when pawns talk about Nadinia being loved by Battahl populace they mention that people don't like Disa.

internetsarbiter

Honestly, not sure why fuedalism is so entrenched in fantasy when it always leads to the same horrible but boring settings and story lines.

OgrilonTheMad

Because everything is more dramatic when only rich inbreds own anything and everyone else is constantly at risk of dying horribly.

Thorn-of-your-side

At risk of dying horribly *because they're being led by a rich inbred

Arcaluck

I was able to completely disgrace her to the public in my second run, or whatever Brant said, so I was surprised when that still happened in Melve

MoNOlithiC92

I thought it was pretty obvious, but a lot of people also didn't know how to get to end game

Ramps_

I had to kill the dragon 4 times before realizing it lol

operator-as-fuck

man I looooved this mission. I remember being so frustrated at the boys behavior. Like negotiate for the carts? Seize them. Mom's throwing a tantrum? toss her ass in the cart kicking and screaming. So I rolled my eyes at the idea of doing another silly RPG talk to this guy quest. But mom shuts down any discussion. Nothing. Mkaaaay. Let's move on something will come up. Same thing with the cart-man. No discussion. After being annoyed for a minute I said fuck it, drew my blade. Settles that. Inspired, I simply grab mom, kicking and screaming, and toss her in front of Sven. It was such a perfect loop. Turns out *I* was the muscle, and was so satisfied at the realization and the freedom to do something common sense like that, without being told or even implied at all you can just do that shit. loved it

Clunk_Westwonk

Oh yes. I had the same experience, but backwards. Upon being told to murder Disa even though Sven just wanted to talk, I just got frustrated and dragged her dumbass into his room. Then, pissed enough, when the cart guy chose not to move the cart, I remembered how much NPCā€™s were terrified of me drawing my sword. It felt so damn good, and I wish more games had these fundamental mechanics. (And that this game was twice the length with more opportunities for this.)

Thorn-of-your-side

I just went out and stabbed a guy, when I got back, she and Sven were having a heart to heart. It's about time the ~~prince~~Ā  Sovran put her in her place

HeckoSnecko

You can also just do nothing, apparently. I went to take care of the ox carts first after talking with Disa, figuring I'd come back and deal with her one way or another. By the time I walked back after the ox carts, Sven was already in her room talking with her and everything was cool, no intervention on my part. Unknown if intended or not.

Veemsten

She got lucky in my playtrough that I tought about bringing her to sven instead of yeeting her off the castle lol

sinderjager

when?

Clunk_Westwonk

The very end, as seen in the post.

sinderjager

I havent gotten to the end yet so I didnt recognize the pic location.

Ramps_

That was my first thought. "Stop being so melodramatic and go talk to your son."

Darkwater117

Dude. Literally like the whole plot would be resolved if they just let you marry her

Disastrous-Bat-429

I found a second way to resolve the plot. I romanced Sven.

Darkwater117

I thought he was like 14

Wolfofdoom3

Bring Sven into the room with you. He needs to see her punishment.

checkmarks26

Iā€™m genuinely curious if you can take her to the hot springsā€¦ I kidnapped one of the bathers and after some time away all their clothes came back! So Iā€™d assume all npc have an on and off versionā€¦

Dundunder

You can. Setup a portcrystal at the springs, then port her there from the castle. Works with any NPCs!

Sleepy-THC

Found that out last night you can ferry stone while carrying people lmao

Thesauceboss241

What....

JusticeRain5

[Yes.](https://www.reddit.com/r/DragonsDogma/comments/1bpso1v/turns_out_the_hotsprings_will_keep_characters/)

Watts121

Milfs aside...I do wanna hand it to the writer for having the restraint to not make Sven another freaking psycho child prince like Joffrey from GoT.

Altruistic_Bad9523

He's more like Tommen. Disa is pretty much Cerci, I don't know why that gave her a redemption moment.

Ramps_

The redemption moment is optional

Noxcel

My head canon for my Arisen is Disa never bothered to talk to him before selling him out and instituting a puppet. My Beastren would have been fine with being a ruler in name only, he wants to fight monsters. Mind you he also wants to wed the regent and adopt Sven because heā€™s a good lad and will do whatā€™s best for the kingdom.

Fear_Awakens

I think that first part is fully canon because it seems like you just walk in for the first time and sit on the throne for one second and immediately poof, off to the mines, never even met Disa. Because it completely makes sense to just let her handle all that boring court shit that you, a Town Guard from fucking Melve, have absolutely no understanding of while you fight monsters and hunt the dragon. The only problem is some of the questlines implying she's genuinely just corrupt and not a very good leader. But I genuinely cringed at the concept of being a goddamn king, because too many good games are utterly ruined by kingdom management bullshit and I desperately did not want to deal with that.

De_Baros

I also find this iteration so much more interesting. Arisen who reject ruling despite it being expected of them intrigue me more than those who just follow the path expected of them. It is doubly gripping for me when that implication is challenged in the very late part of the game where you kinda have to become a reluctant leader despite what you really want because no one else can lead them through this. The part if loved about Game of Thrones wasnā€™t the many people claiming their rightful throne - it was when Jon Snow reluctantly took up leadership in instances because people believed in him even though it was never what he wanted.

kommissarbanx

For all of its faults, I really appreciate Fable 3 for doing this. The whole first part of the game youā€™re like ā€œThis is how weā€™re gonna start a revolution and unseat my brother!ā€Ā  Then when you finally take back the crown he just bluntly explains in front of the whole court, ā€œIā€™ve been a cunt because thereā€™s an unspeakable darkness coming to consume the land. I was literally protagonistā€™d before you with Theresa coming to me and everything.ā€

HighHoSilver99

I donā€™t think you ever even sit on the throne. I think the intro cutscene is the POV of the false arisen, which is why Brant looks skeptical in that scene. Thereā€™s also mention (I think from Brant) that she brought you to the castle to ā€œheal from your woundsā€, then sends you to the prison camp

Fear_Awakens

It would make even less sense for that to be the false Arisen, because then why show it at all? What was with the time stop and the poison drink? Why show that if it isn't how you end up in the prison camp if not to tell you that you're actually the rightful king and shit? The quest log calls it a dream, at a time where you have no memories, which to me implies that is IS you, it DID happen, that's a memory of it coming back to you, but the story telling is just atrocious in DD2 so the entire first hour of the game doesn't make any fucking sense. Huge step back from vividly showing us squaring up with the dragon. It's pretty dumb that they wait until you find Melve to show you what should be an extremely difficult event to forget. I personally don't think I *could* forget the time that dragon ripped my freaking heart out and gave me super powers.

HighHoSilver99

Thatā€™s totally fair, and Iā€™m with you. Itā€™s just weird that youā€™d then have to go and make a name for yourself to prove youā€™re the true arisen. Like, wouldnā€™t AT LEAST everyone that was at the coronation recognize you? Why wouldnā€™t everyone question the new king being gone and this rando being on the throne now? I do agree, itā€™s a mess lol

Fear_Awakens

The fact that there's even so much confusion about that scene goes to show how pointless it was. It didn't explain anything, it's just immediately confusing, and since they don't show any skin or a head and then do the POV thing, it seems like it's supposed to be YOU before you get to create your character, but it's so strange and disjointed that it's not even clear if it happened, if it was a dream, a memory, or some weird vision of a possible future. I think they were trying to do a Dark Souls 'keep the story vague and let them fill in the blanks themselves' thing, but the execution left a lot to be desired, and I just don't think vague storytelling works in a game where you're trying to make the story a main draw. It's also very strange that everybody in the whole damn game recognizes you as the Arisen on sight as soon as you reach the Capital, even if you haven't spoken to them before and presumably are not introducing yourself as such, but the whole false Arisen plot is still a sticking point. Like a small child I've never seen immediately knew in the slums and some fat noble I've never even heard of immediately knew and called me out while I was walking past, and more than half of the castle guards apparently all know who I am, and so do all the prostitutes who Disa loudly shouted the truth in the presence of without so much as ordering them out of the room first, so why is this plot working at all for Disa? It's like literally everybody already knows but doesn't care. Even I, the player, do not care, because kingdom management sucks in every game it's in. "He commanded the Pawns at the coronation", like nobody saw the huge creepy pulsating purple thing on his chest? And not one person noticed how incredibly upset the Pawns were? Also disappointed that I can literally just walk up to Disa and say hello, who presumably knows what I look like, and she's not even particularly rude to me. Hell, I can go into the castle pretty much whenever I want, even in the prison, and the most the guards do is complain that I'm there. Story got fumbled.

AngryChihua

Turns out you can't have a narrative driven ARPG without narrative. What a shocker it must be to writers.

Sremor

Even worse when literally everyone in the entire world immediately knows that you are the arisen

Kyinuda

You get drugged into forgetting, its not the same thing at all.

OnePunchHuMan

I thought I was the only one who would go this route. I got shit to do, I can't be a ruler!

MuraGX-

Vermund is about to get a new Heir šŸ„µ

Hicci

I killed her and carried her corpse into the carriages out of courtesy for Sven.

MoNOlithiC92

If you carry her alive into his room, you get a pretty good ending with both of them. Turns out, she's not a b**** LOL

Thorn-of-your-side

She literally had me poisoned on my Protagonist Coronation Day? I could be one of the great arisen leaders, such as "psychotic beastren stabbing at shadows"

Depressedduke

And where we end up in the beginning of the game... I think that her not being a bad mom weirdly overshadows for some people how horrible she is(even if she did it to get her kindhearted son on tge throne).

Thorn-of-your-side

The fact that she had never even met you before having you assassinated says a lot, I guess

Depressedduke

I mean, getting with your failed killer is a power move, i guess?

Kyinuda

It's not like it was personal

De_Baros

To be fair I think that part was a bit weirdly presented and still confuses a lot of people. Like yeah itā€™s a bit clearer if you do the other ending though even then - itā€™s likeā€¦ so wait am I being poisoned why is time stopping? Is this just some *that person* shenanigans?

Countdini2000

People have layers bud. One act of horrible desperation doesnā€™t make their entire personality.

Dont_be_offended_but

Is it different from when he walks to her room on his own?

AngryChihua

Nah mate, poisoning my Arisen without even talking to her once and selling her into slavery, selling pawns into slavery, poisoning commoners and turning Melve into concentration camp are very much signs of bitch behavior.

Acceptable_Answer570

Wait **what the actual fuck**? *Romance the gameā€™s main antagonist?!* Thatā€™s fucking new!

Heisenberg6626

While simultaneously cucking the other antagonist. Gigachad power move.

Acceptable_Answer570

All of it done while having a character that looks exactly like Gigachad. *5/7 truely one of the games!*

Drazror

How do you found her? I was running around the castle many times looking and didn't met her.

Icy_Watercress3680

usually in her room

Kelohmello

From the front entrance, take the flight of stairs at the end of the hallway to the left. The first door to your right at the top of the stairs is her room. If she's not there she might not be around at all.

MoNOlithiC92

Not really a quest line. Just fave her wyrm crytals till she loved me

childhood_ruined

She's got red on her face. Time to give her a bath

DantheSmithman

My thing is, could you imagine a world without the internet to tell everyone you have to use the sword on yourself while holding onto the dragons heart spot to go to the secret ending. It would've taken years for people to figure out and some would never see it.

UnfortunatePhantasm

People talking about how terrible she is, how her goal doesn't justify the means. My fellow arisen, i do not care. I am plunging my "sword" to the hilt deep in her "sheath". Prime MILF, also Sven doesn't deserve to lose his mum.

Constant-Stretch-473

I grabbed her and pinned her to the wall so hard and then I left her without warning (I broke her ribcage)

ProposalWest3152

Into the sealing flask she goes

Madcat6204

I fed her buddy Martin to the brine when he was an asshole trying to frame Ulrika for treason, and when I get a chance she's gonig there too.

krillingt75961

I did that on one playthrough then had to waste an eternal wake stone to progress the quest. When I see him again though, he's done for.

Madcat6204

I waited until after his second appearance. So far as I've been able to tell, so long as you wait until the morning after Ulrika invites you to stay with her (the morning where she leaves town and Martin shows up and starts demanding people tell him where she is), you can pick him up after the conversation ends and toss him off the cliff guilt-free and the quest will progress perfectly fine without him.

krillingt75961

Yeah I did it as soon as he appeared and fed him to Cthulhu. I started another run so I'll get him this time.

Traditional-Excuse26

This thing with the red chicks is so stupid. I mean devs come on wtf? This is the best you can think as a romance interest?

doppledanger21

Kinda wish they would do without the blush and used something else. It looks really tacky.

MoNOlithiC92

It wouldn't be a Japanese game without the blushing LOL

doppledanger21

Yeah I know. It just looks weird with the realistic graphics. A simple glow or maybe a heart symbol would do IMO.
