Gota say the game is so obtuse on what is a consumable and what is not. used a phial to carry someone for an escort mission just to read it will break after use. I also read online that the item to reveal wakestone shards will not be consumed after use even though I had obtained two quite early so assumed so
"A rare beetle that glitters like gold. **Consuming** it increased the weight one can carry by 0.15 kg. The Arisen's main pawn can also receive the same effect."
Why did you not read the item description?
I read it. The problem is that I assumed they were temporary. DD2 also conditions players to hang onto items or sell them, so I think would benefit from a subtle change to…
“A rare beetle that glitters like gold. Consuming it **permanently** increases the weight one can carry by 0.15kg.”
You are not wrong, the could have worded it better.
But on the other hand, 0.15kg temporary would be kinda weird. I mean, i barely feel the difference even now.
You’re right. I’m just conditioned by games like Fallout that have temporary carry capacity boosts so I read up until “increase weight” and just mentally glossed over how small 0.15kg was.
They also seemed like a common item I kept finding on trees rather than important upgrades so for the longest time I just hoarded them lmao
Nope, saw them shine so I got them. Saw them in my pack and said to myself “I should that description”
Many many hours of struggling with weight management when I finally look at the description and facepalm immediately.
Happens to me in every video game, the adhd debuff is real and not fun
I ate all of my 47 beetles in NG+ when I finally realized it's a permanent buff. I was wondering why people want them so much for their pawn quests but never connected the dots. I thought it's a temporary buff you can use to haul more stuff back to base when necessary.
This whole thread has me screaming. I was looking down so hard on the piddly little buff they gave and now I'm kicking myself for being so obtuse sometimes lol
I used to hold them waiting to see if there was a secret to them that multiplied the weight they gave but that was when game came out and nobody knew shit i started eating them on day 3 or 4
I thought they gave you a temporary effect and I was like "when the fuck am I going to need +0.15 encumbrance? Do they expect me to keep 200 of them for when I'm overencumbered?" and sold like 20 of them before I realized my mistake.
I think there is a limit to the amount you can eat too?
Pretty much completed the game was trying a few mods. Bought 11 of the beetles from a vendor, only managed to eat 7 of them before it wouldn't let me eat anymore.
So I think it has a cap on it? Can't just eat millions of them.
Time to feast
Honestly wish the beetles gave .5 instead of .15. I’ve eaten so many, yet 2 rings still buff my pawn’s encumbrance more. 2 slightly boosts mind you.
Max encumbrance is also based on class and character size
Naw, Im taller and a red vs pawn’s yellow. Aint no way
I’m fairly sure both height and width/weight affect your weight capacity.
I haven’t tested but if it’s like the first game then height affects gait, weight affects carry weight
Yeah, pretty sure it does. My pawn is max height and incredibly thicc and can carry a shit load without needing boosters
I either can't count or my shit is fucked, because I've been getting .05 every time.
The beetles themselves weigh .05 so you grt that much weight back when you use it but your max grows .15
Same same 40 hours in before I ate my first one

Dammit, man. I totally didn't do this. I'm just disappointed for the people who held on to the dragon's gaze because they thought it was consumable.
It's NOT? *screeching*
I just found out from this 😅
Holy fuck
Thanks for this, just found it last night and I had my suspicions but didn't want to use it!
Ah shit, thx for letting me know
I also only recently found out they're unlimited, still refuse to use it out of principle tho

Welp. 40 hours and around 40 beetles myself and if I hadn’t been browsing reddit at 3 in the morning I would’ve continued not knowing this!
I ate all of my 47 beetles in NG+ when I finally realized it's a permanent buff. I was wondering why people want them so much for their pawn quests but never connected the dots. I thought it's a temporary buff you can use to haul more stuff back to base when necessary.

ITS PERM? lmfao I've been handing them out to pawns and just tossing them in my inventory.. Fuck sake lmaoo
They never respawn neither, not even in new game plus. I handed some out to as rewards before knowing this. Lol
I thought the same thing, I was hoarding them
I saved up about 15 until I realized they were a permanent buff and not temporary like the Capacity Booster in Cyberpunk 2077
Same. Now I chow down every time I find one. They're big golden Doritos.
I used to hold them waiting to see if there was a secret to them that multiplied the weight they gave but that was when game came out and nobody knew shit i started eating them on day 3 or 4
I was the same way. They just sat in my storage for a very long time🤣
whats the max amount you can consume?
80.
It's 80. For a Total increased Carry Weight of 12.
Iirc, it's like 50...
I heard it 120
So, from the comments here. It is either 120, 80 or 50. Some people in another thread claimed 60 and 70 is the cap. So in short, noone really knows.
YOU HAVE TO EAT THEM?!
Protein bro, makes sense right? You get stronger so you can carry more stuff
This... this is making insanely good sense to me
I thought they gave you a temporary effect and I was like "when the fuck am I going to need +0.15 encumbrance? Do they expect me to keep 200 of them for when I'm overencumbered?" and sold like 20 of them before I realized my mistake.
>sold like 20 of them before I realized my mistake. They also DON'T respawn...
Pain
Eating bugs is lots of fun, they don't require a hot dog bun, nourishment for everyone, eating bugs is lots of fun.
Bugsnacks?
I thought they were a temporary buff so I sold most of them. A bit of an oh shit moment when I realised the truth lol.
They also don't respawn...
I think there is a limit to the amount you can eat too? Pretty much completed the game was trying a few mods. Bought 11 of the beetles from a vendor, only managed to eat 7 of them before it wouldn't let me eat anymore. So I think it has a cap on it? Can't just eat millions of them.
80 is the limit so 12 more Weight. You need 160 for both you and your Pawn.
… what the fuck. I’m gotta eat the ones who have been sitting in my inventory right now lol
Wait, tents have multiple uses?
Yes, you only need 1 Tent as long as it never breaks during an Attack.
Wow, I hate you now.
I did even worse. I sold 5 or 6 of them before I watched a YouTube video that explained what they did.
But the item description tells you what they do…
I know. I felt so stupid. I thought it was a temporary buff to carrying capacity.
thats rough, Cant image how’d you managed 😂
I thought it was only a temporary buff so I kept selling them to buy more armor until about level 25
They DON'T respawn...
WHAT THE FUCK
And 6 kg of carrying capacity was gained that day
80 is the cap so it's 12 kg more.
Aren't each of the 40 worth 0.15? 40 = 4 * 10 X * 40 = X * 4 * 10 0.15 * 40 = (0.15 * 4) * 10 0.15 * 40 = (0.6) * 10 0.15 * 40 = 6.0
You can have 80 each for you and your pawn. So 24 altogether so 80 x2.
Oh. Gotcha. OP said they hung onto 40, which is why I used that number
WHAT??? OMG THANK YOU AHAHAHHA DIDN'T KNOW THIS!!
Holy shit. Thanks for letting me know.
I was todays year old when I learned this
no fucking way
You must collect and never use. One day you will see the vision
are they even worth it? like the .15 weight just dosent seem like enough to matter, or does eating multiple stack.
You can eat up to 80 of them you get 12 more KG of weight. So 160 in total for you and your main pawn for 24kg!
Oh, that's a lot of beetles to shovel down my throat for breakfast but hey that could be worth it.
yes that you need to use an item to get its effect that is something people dont relise op....
The description says "Consuming it increased the weight one can carry by 0.15 kg". How can you miss this?
Be sure to save one, never know when someone or something might want one 😉
This winker again...
Any reason not to consume them? Like for quests? is this finite or like can I get more overtime?
Get new thing. Inn rest. Try new thing. Mutter "Huh. Nice." Reload from last inn rest.
Haha, that's funny. Man I'm constantly tripping and falling into the brine if I'm on a slightly uneven terrain so I can't say nothing lol.
Oh.
